Coal ship carrying 950 tons of oil hits the Great Barrier Reef at full speed. Small patches of oil have been seen so far Sunday, but no major leaks apparently. The ship was heading to China, and ran aground off from the shipping lane? What they were doing there is beyond me. Perhaps now Australia will toughen the regulations for ships passing through the area. The Great Barrier Reef, one of the most revered natural wonders, is very susceptible to environmental disasters. Let's hope the ship doesn't continue breaking apart and a disaster is averted. added by: webturtle0
