Sony Is Bringing The Walkman Back, But With Modern Twists

To celebrate the technological advancements the 40th anniversary, Sony is dropping two new models of the portable music player. The tech giant announced the Sony NW-A100TPS and the lower-end Sony NW-A105 are on the way.  We are sure there is some head-scratching going on reading this. Mainly with tape cassettes being a thing of the past. BUT these models have been modernized to suit the modern-day person. The “rebooted” Walkman devices will run on an Android OS and come with a bevy of new features. For instance, the DSHEE HX processor will provide improved compressed audio, a vinyl processor for the audiophile who enjoys a vintage sound. Plus there is an S-Master HX amplifier which will supply the best quality audio. The new Walkman will also sport a 3.6-inch touch panel, USB-C charging port, Bluetooth capability, and expandable 16GB storage. Where the two devices differ is the NW-A100TPS will be sporting a 40th-anniversary logo, an interface that resembles a tape cassette, unique packaging and case that is will resemble the original Walkman. The NW-A105 will be the cheaper model and will not be decked out with fresh designs. Since we are on the topic of price, reports indicate when they launch in Australia and Europe later this year, they will cost AUD 599 and €440 EUR/£400 GBP. As far as a release date for the US, details have yet to be announced, but when they do both models will probably cost somewhere between $400 and $500 according to reports . Now we are not sure who is in the market for a separate device that plays music being that most people use their smartphones to stream music now. Kathryn Dennis’ Late Mother Honored by Boyfriend Hunter Price

Recently, Southern Charm fans were given the awful news that Kathryn Dennis’s mother passed away . She was only 59 years old. Tributes and comforting words are pouring in from friends, castmates, and fans. Most touching of all is the tender message left by Kathryn’s musician boyfriend, Hunter Price. Last Wednesday, Allison Calhoun Dennis passed away after a battle with ovarian cancer. Allison, and through her Kathryn, was a descendant of the United States’ seventh Vice President, John C. Calhoun. 59 is a profoundly young age at which to die. Kathryn is of course grieving, as is the rest of her family. They have requested privacy as they cope with this terrible loss. On Instagram, Kathryn paid tribute to her late mother with a single word: “Family.” Kathryn’s boyfriend, Country singer Hunter Price, penned a beautiful comment as a tribute to Kathryn’s late mother. “You’re the strongest, and most beautiful woman that I’ve ever been so lucky to love,” Hunter gushed to Kathryn. “Your mom will always be with you no matter what;” he affirmed. Hunter concluded: “just as I know she’s always been.” That is sweet and touching without dragging on — perfectly appropriate for a public message on social media. Hunter was not the only one close to Kathryn who reached out over Instagram. Danni Baird is one of Kathryn’s besties, and she of course commented. “Love you to pieces, Kat,” Danni expressed. “Your mom is so proud of u.” The strikingly beautiful Naomie Olindo also weighed in. “Sending you allllllll the love in the world,” Naomie wrote. “KD I am so so sorry for your loss.” Allison played a major role in Kathryn’s life, even in recent years. Not only was she her mother, but she acted as an additional caregiver for Kathryn’s children, Kensie and Saint. This has proven vital during Kathryn’s heated, bitter custody dispute with her disgraced ex, Thomas Ravenel. In retrospect, it’s a wonderful thing that she was able to do that for Kathryn. It means precious memories for Kensie and Saint. Those important moments are now priceless. Kathryn Dennis is only 28 years old. In fact, she just had her birthday last week — the day before her mother’s heartbreaking passing. That is a distressingly young age at which to lose a parent. Even if Kathryn were not going through a tumultuous time in her life right now, her mother’s passing would be hitting her hard. It is a relief to know that she has so many friends and loved ones to support her as she tries to cope. Based upon the comments from Hunter and others, it sounds like she’s in good hands. At the risk of getting a little personal, here: f–k cancer. Celebrities can seem out-of-touch at times. Certainly, Kathryn’s spending has at times made her seem to occupy a separate existence from the rest of us. But cancer afflicts the mega-famous, reality stars, and ordinary peasants. It destroys families no matter their income. (The only difference is how much medical debt the disease leaves in its wake, and whether someone can afford regular screenings) Kathryn should know that she’s not alone. Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have both spoken out since rocking the celebrity gossip world with news of their split. And each has said something very, very different. Following a mere eight months of marriage — but a decade of mostly being together, with the occasional hiatus here and there — Cyrus and Hemsworth pulled the plug on their romance over the weekend. The separation was confirmed by a rep for the singer, who said the following to People Magazine: “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. “Please respect their process and privacy.” As you might expect, however, this latter request has been ignored. This likely would have been the case no matter what, considering just how famous both halves of the now-former couple are, but a follow-up to the story has made it impossible for outlets to simply give Liam and Miley privacy. The Dolomites were not created over night, it was over millions of years that this magnificent beauty was formed. Manuel is big on philanthropy and is on a mission to diversify swimming. “The gold medal wasn’t just for me; it was for people that came before me and inspired me to stay in the sport,” she told the New York Times in an interview. “For people who believe that they can’t do it, I hope I’m an inspiration to others to get out there and try swimming. You might be pretty good at it.” Earlier this year, she visited LeBron James ’ I Promise School in Akron, Ohio to talk with students about water safety and encourage them to learn how to swim. In partnership with the Akron Area YMCA, she will provide all of the students with swimming lessons this summer. She is also spreading awareness about the high drowning rate within the Black community and is working hard to reverse the alarming trend. “The most important thing is saving lives more than winning gold medals. Representation is important,” she said . Source: Peter Cade / Getty Instagram Might Be Getting Rid Of Their Public Like Count Sometime Soon Some of us like to act like we don’t care about Instagram likes–and some of us actually, really don’t care. But others have built entire careers off the number of likes they can pull in per picture, so there’s definitely something important about the number under that little heart icon on all of our pictures. While the number of people who double tap certain photos seems pretty arbitrary, a lot of people are starting to think more and more that the attention we pay to social media can be harmful to our self-esteem, mental health, and other factors in our real life. That’s why Instagram could be getting rid of this feature for good. Instagram is expanding its test of a feature that hides their public “like” counts. The test began in Canada in back in April, and, starting on Wednesday, the test expanded to Ireland, Italy, Japan, Brazil, Australia, and New Zealand. At this point, this is still just an experiment, and Instagram hasn’t said whether or not the feature will come to the US–but this gradual implementation into different areas could be the platform’s way of introducing a really big change. As for the tests going down in these 7 countries, Instagram users can opt out of the test, but it’s on by default. “Likes” aren’t shown in any public part of the app, including on public-facing grids or on the main feed, but the person who posted an image can still see the “like” count privately. We’re currently running a test that hides the total number of likes and video views for some people in the following countries: Australia Brazil Canada Ireland Italy Japan New Zealand pic.twitter.com/2OdzpIUBka — Instagram (@instagram) July 17, 2019 There have been a lot of positive and negative reactions to this newly implemented test run, with most of the concern being for the livelihood of Instagram’s influencers. After the initial idea was announced, Elle ran a story titled “Instagram Is Experimenting With Hiding Likes, Which Would Make It Much Harder to Be an Influencer,” which points out that brands care a lot more about hiring influencers with high engagement rates (a high percentage of likes compared to their follower count) on their posts than they do about how many followers someone has. On the contrary, marketing blogger Charles Tumotto Jackson argued that influencers would be fine — probably just pivoting to a higher reliance on Instagram Stories. That’s where they can use the swipe-up feature to link directly to purchasing pages, and “everything becomes measurable and even more transparent than it used to be.” Plus, like mentioned above, the influencers themselves can still see how many likes are being brought in, which is something they can show to a brand just like the back-end analytics already provides–proving once more that their business and livelihood probably won’t be affected by this change as much as people think. It’s our job to write many words about things and people within the world of celebrity gossip, so we’re gonna go ahead and give this a shot… In honor of the very first time he can celebrate Father’s Day for a personal and important reason, Prince Harry has gone ahead and shared a new picture of the person who has made this possible. We’re talking about the Royal Stud’s only child to date, of course, Archie. The latest member of Great Britain’s most famous family entered the world back on May 6 and, aside from one public outing two days later, has mostly been kept out of the spotlight ever since. Harry and polarizing wife Meghan Markle have been caring for the newborn away from London and all the cameras, onlookers, press, etc. over the past five weeks or so. But Harry took a break from this hiatus on Father’s Day. “Happy Father’s Day! And wishing a very special first Father’s Day to The Duke of Sussex,” reads the caption on Harry and Meghan’s official Instagram account to the image above. Really, does it get any more precious?!? The snapshot features young Archie’s tiny hand wrapped around the finger of his father. And while the bottm half of Archie’s face is covered up, this is actually the best look we’ve gotten so far of the brand new human’s eyes and head. Just over a month ago, meanwhile, Markle and Harry celebrated her very first Mother’s Day as an actual mother by also sending an emotional message to her fans around the world. We honor and celebrate each and every one of you,” the Royals wrote along with a picture that showed Meghan tenderly touching her son’s tiny feet at the time.
