1 2-year-old activist Amariyanna Copeny —dubbed Little Miss Flint—is furthering her efforts to address the water crisis in her city. According to Atlanta Black Star , Copeny teamed up with a water filtration company to make clean water accessible within her community. This is my water filter. The funds will go towards creating a long-term sustainable solution to the water crisis by bringing state-of-the-art water filters to underserved communities. The implementation of the water filters would give individuals the ability to have safe running water within their households instead of spending long periods of time waiting in line to get donated bottles of water. It would also curb plastic waste. Over $130,000 has been raised towards her $150,000 goal. Copeny is partnering with the company Hydroviv which designs and builds custom water filters. “Ever since April 2014 my community has been faced with a lead crisis that we’re still recovering from. My community needed water they could trust and bottled water was the only resource for drinking water that many in my community trusted,” she wrote on her GoFundMe page . “For my new donation campaign, my team has partnered with a socially-responsible water filtration company, which will allow us to maximize the impact of donated funds and eliminate the single-use plastic waste that is associated with bottled water.” Copeny has been dedicated to spreading awareness about the Flint water crisis and evoking change. Through her campaigns, she’s donated over one million bottles of water to families in need. Young activists are stepping up to address Flint’s water crisis. In March, rapper and actor Jaden Smith ’s eco-friendly natural spring water brand JUST Goods Inc. joined forces with Flint’s First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church to implement a system called “The Water Box” which can help reduce lead and other toxic chemicals in contaminated water. Source: Boston Globe / Getty Jasiel Correia II Arrested On Federal Extortion Charges It seems like the mayor of Massachusetts thought life was a drama series and he could get away with extorting desperate weed vendors in the area, but instead, he’s been popped on extortion charges. According to USA Today , Jasiel Correia II , 27, was arrested Friday on federal extortion charges for allegedly operating a scheme to help marijuana vendors get approval to operate in exchange for hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes. Allegedly Correia agreed to sign non-opposition letters in return for significant six-figure payments from four marijuana vendors looking to open businesses in the city. The mayor also is accused of extorting $3,900 in cash and a “Batman” Rolex watch from a property owner in exchange for activating the water supply to his building. Federal prosecutors also Correia demanded his chief of staff give him half of her $78,700 salary in return for appointing her and allowing her to keep her city job. Four others, including the former chief of staff, Genoveva Andrade, also were charged with federal crimes. Correia appeared in Boston federal court Friday afternoon and pleaded not guilty. “I’m not guilty of these charges. I’ve done nothing but good for the great city of Fall River, me and my staff, and my team. I’m going to continue to do great things for our citizens,” he told reporters afterward, standing next to his attorney outside the courthouse.

Like, why don’t you move it ?” Kevin narrates. “And as soon as she turned her back,” he details. “I grabbed it and crammed it in my back pocket.” “And I don’t know if you know,” Kevin adds. “But skinny jeans are not easy to cram things into.” “I was so clueless,” Astrid confesses about Kevin’s plan to pop the question. “And you never get a surprise really by me, ever.” “I feel like I pay attention to everything,” she shares. “And I had absolutely no clue.” Notably, Kevin avoided spoiling the surprise and had to take the risk of shopping for the ring alone. “I’ve always told him I don’t like when there’s too much crazy stuff going on in the ring,” Astrid recalls. “We’re very simple people.” “We were both in jeans and a T-shirt and a tank top [when we got engaged], which is just how we are every single day, which is so us,” she adds. “Rather than some crazy, fancy thing. So the ring definitely reflects both of our personalities,” Astrid says. “And he got a cute little inside joke engraved in it.” Just because the ring was simple and over-the-top doesn’t mean that Kevin didn’t spend a great deal on it. Plastics in the ocean is a trendy cause on the internet, which I am not against, even though I typically hate trendy things because I love the ocean and I think killing the ocean life for our consumption is pretty fucking gross…. Save the fucking Dolphins / Whales / Turtles and Sharks..but I also know that humans are fucking gross, they are greedy slobs and their disgusting trying to get rich tactics have shaped a really shitty fucking society for all the live in… From mass producing shit we don’t need, to poisoning our food, our water, forcing us to work shitty jobs to buy shit we don’t need, ending up more miserable in debt, but we have that shiney shit to remind us that it wasn’t what we needed to be fulfilled, and that working every day for it is not fucking worth it.. Imagine a life of the early settlers, working the land, trading what you grow for what others grow, no need for money or currency or anything, and no real waste cuz we have nothing to waste…spending our days at home all day like me, instead of going to an offic and dying prematurely thanks to stress from nonsense problems that don’t fucking matter, especially when you’re just a paid employee..instead of dealing with stresses that do matter like living the best life.. Point being, individuals doing waste free now cuz it is trendy, or people drawing attntion to plastic on the beaches are too little too late, the damage is done, and unless big business stops destroying the world you plastic straw ban isn’t gonna do shit…. BUT if you get naked like Anja Rubik….to promote a clean world…it’s a nice way to bring awareness to what we already know.
