Reports Say Man's Court-Appointed Attorney Hopes to Use Insanity as Defense (AP) A 59-year-old western Michigan parolee will stand trial in the sodomy of his pet pit bull. The Muskegon Chronicle reports Friday that a two-day jury trial is scheduled Jan. 4 for Jose Sanchez in the 14th Circuit Court. Sanchez' parole officer was told the pet dog was sexually assaulted Aug. 2. The Muskegon man is charged with one count of sodomy, a 15-year felony. The newspaper reports that Sanchez' court-appointed attorney hopes to use insanity as a defense. Results of an evaluation by the Michigan Center for Forensic Psychiatry were not available. The pit bull has been placed with an animal rescue group.
