A 6.5-magnitude earthquake rocked southeastern Iran on Monday, state television said on its website, without reporting any immediate casualties. A magnitude 5.4-earthquake jolted a city in southern Iran Friday but caused no casualties or major damage, Iran#39;s state TV reported. The epicenter was near the city of Firouzabad, about 620 miles (1,000 kilometers) south of the capital, Tehran. The city and surrounding areas are home to 117,000 people. Police stop attack on Muhammad cartoonist

Danish police last night shot and wounded a 27-year-old man trying to enter the home of Kurt Westergaard, whose controversial cartoon of Islam’s prophet sparked riots across the Muslim world five years ago . Police confirmed an “incident” at the house in Viby, near the city of Aarhus. Danish media expressed fears that it might have been an attempt on the life of the cartoonist, who had been targeted in previous plots.
