Source: John Lamparski / Getty Writer Tuwanna Thompson, known professionally as Wanna, is suing Karen Civil and the CEO of her website Christian Emiliano. The lawsuit stems from a tweet she posted regarding rapper Nicki Minaj . Last year, a writer found herself in the middle of a Twitter war with not only rapper Nicki Minaj but her legion of fans: The Barbs. The whole thing started when Wanna Thompson, whose real name is Tuwanna, shared an honest and kindly worded tweet about how she would like to have seen Nicki’s lyrical content change and grow as she does. Text “RICKEY” to 71007 to join the Rickey Smiley Morning Show mobile club for exclusive news. ( Terms and conditions ). She wrote: “You know how dope it would be if Nicki put out mature content?” Just reflecting on past relationships, being a boss, hardships, etc. She’s touching 40 soon, a new direction is needed.” As a result, Nicki Minaj hopped in her DM with some less than kind words. Nicki Minaj exhibited #Queen behaviour when she hopped in my DMs and insulted me numerous times over an innocent music opinion while her fans continue to harass me and DM me death threats. This is NOT okay. pic.twitter.com/bJI9TVvJV7 — Stacy, Tracy, Ronna, & Ronda, Donna, Yolanda, Ta.. (@WannasWorld) July 1, 2018 Afterward, Nicki’s fans began their months-long harassment of Thompson , which included them sending her threatening DMs and messages on all her social media accounts, email and even her cell phone. Thompson said that if she knew the tweet would cause this much commotion, she would have never sent it. In addition to the threats, Thompson was subsequently fired from her internship as a writer with Karen Civil’s company, who has worked with Minaj in the past. Which is why she is suing Civil, claiming that Emiliano’s tweets about her impacted her ability to find employment after her termination from Civil’s company. She’s suing for $1.5 million for defamation. According to Hot New Hip Hop , Civil’s attorney, Walter Mosley, responded to the story of the lawsuit. “We have not been served with any lawsuit so we can not respond to the specifics of this alleged case. However, my firm was hired to respond to defamation and figure assault perpetrated by this young lady many months ago and it seems like her actions have persisted from reading this article. At this time we will reserve our rights to exercise the full extent of every available remedy both financial and/or filing for injunctive relief. We should also remind Tuwanna Thompson that she is still under a comprehensive NDA w/ Karen Civil. Karen Civil is the CEO & Owner of all her companies & properties.” [ione_media_gallery src=”https://rickeysmileymorningshow.com” id=”2010347″ overlay=”true”] This story was originally published on MadameNoire.com . Well, if you were looking forward to Single Ronnie re-joining the Spiral Squad on the current season of Jersey Shore, we’re afraid you may be disappointed. According to his latest interview, Ronnie is still in a relationship with Jen Harley — and it seems he has every intention of sticking by his baby mama’s side. “Right now things are going good [with Jen], and I think it’s because I made a change and I stopped doing the same thing over and over again,” Magro told Us Weekly exclusively. “I started just focusing on myself and stopped worrying about what other people wanted from me, and what I want for myself. So right now things are good.” “I’ve decided to start focusing more on me” sounds like your a New Year’s resolution announced by your most narcissistic friend, but we think we know what Ronnie is trying to say here. Focusing his attention on what others thought or expected of him led to his signature “Ron-pages” … and incidents like last year’s Vegas pool party fight that briefly shut down production on Shore. When Ronnie focuses on what’s best for Ronnie he surges, rather than spirals. Many would argue that what’s best for Ronnie would be breaking up with Harley again and actually making it stick this time, but hey — do you, bruh. Unfortunately, Ronnie’s announcement that he and Jen are still an item comes at an awkward time. Thursday’s episode of Jersey Shore saw Ronnie spinning an unlikely story of being attacked in a restaurant parking lot the night before Mike Sorrentino’s sentencing. Holes in the story and injuries that seemed inconsistent with Ronnie’s account led many to the conclusion that he had been attacked by Harley and was attempting to shield his baby mama from blame. But Ronnie promises that he will not be at the center of the drama during the new season of Shore. For one thing, we imagine much of the focus will be on Mike Sorrentino, who was sentenced to two years in prison on last week’s episode. (Sorrentino’s sentence was later reduced. He’s currently behind bars, but will likely be released to a halfway house before the end of summer.) On top of that, Ronnie is newly sober and intends to stay that way. That means no Ron-Ron Juice, no smush rooms … and hopefully, no drama. “I feel like now that everyone’s growing up! Even the new season, it’s not us in the club,” he added. “A lot of the stuff that goes on with us is real life stuff, real life things, and real life s–t doesn’t go on in the clubs anymore!” That’s all well and good … but bad stuff can happen outside of the club, too. Just keep this man away from rooms with “self-closing” doors, and everything will be fine!
Source: Getty Images / We TV Last week Jermaine Dupri found himself in the crosshairs of social media when he suggested that today’s female rappers are basically strippers with microphones. After getting called out by stars like Cardi B for his asinine comments, he went and launched a So So Def Female Cypher in an effort to calm criticism aimed at him—but Ari Lennox still wants more smoke. Also, his cypher isn’t going to help. View this post on Instagram After all the calls,DMs, angry tweets and other messages saying “I am a major gatekeeper in the hip hop world, why don’t I invest in a female who is out here hustling and making a name for herself?” I decided to create the #SoSoDefFemalecypher, details coming soon A post shared by Jermaine Dupri (@jermainedupri) on Jul 12, 2019 at 1:19pm PDT Ari Lennox wasn’t impressed with what Jermaine Dupri was selling and took to IG live to spit a freestyle over Busta Rhymes “I Know What You Want” Instrumental and straight called Dupri a “sexist pr*ck” after stating “To me it seems like you hatin’/it seems like you don’t like how that queen takeover tastin’!” Tell ’em how you feel, son! Though she was clearly having fun with the freestyle as she laughed in-between bars, Ari definitely made her point that in this era of the woman, female rappers can and will rap about whatever they want, however they want, and get that bag while they do so. So stop hating. ari lennox made a diss song for JD i’m crying this shit had me rolling #JermaineDupri #arilennox pic.twitter.com/hfqQtH5csf — Hot Girl Britt (@B_r_i_t_t_96) July 12, 2019 Social media meanwhile peeped game and took to the net to slander Dupri for a bevy of reasons while calling into question his one-sided view on today’s state of Hip-Hop music.
