Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie Goes In On Crusty-Lipped French Reporter Who Asks If Nigeria Has Any Libraries

Monica Schipper/WireImage French Reporter Doesn’t Know If Nigeria Has Any Libraries Award-winning Nigerian writer  Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie was asked an insane question during an interview that shocked both her and the entire crowd. French journalist Caroline Broué asked the author whether or not there were any libraries in Nigeria, which was met by a look of complete distress from Adichie. On est en 2018, et une des plus grandes romancières au monde doit expliquer qu'il y a des librairies dans son pays. Restez jusqu'au bout pour voir la réponse brillante de Chimamanda Adichie : pic.twitter.com/C3o7CJXEc7 — Loopsider (@Loopsidernews) January 26, 2018 Adichie was the guest of honor at La Nuit Des Idees ( The Night of Ideas),  there to talk about the “commitments to the fight against inequality between men and women, her convictions with respect to the role that African countries should play in globalization.” But she ended up having to teach this journalist a lesson. And according to one bilingual Twitter user, Broué’s follow-up reasoning was even worse than the initial question: And to think the journalist doubled down on this ridiculous question with: Oh in France, we don't know very much about Nigeria. When we hear Nigeria we think about boko haram and violence and security. Tell us something different. Girl really? #Bye — Yvonne Mburu (@ymscientist) January 25, 2018 “I think it reflects very poorly on French people that you have to ask me that question…I think surely… I mean it’s 2018,” she said in response to the question. The crowd erupted in applause. A lot of people are arguing that many in France and other countries probably don’t know a lot about Nigeria, and that it would be better to educate than scoff at such an insane question–though implying they might not even have one book store in the entire country is more insulting than not knowing facts about a particular place.

Making It Rain On Them Racist Jedi Hoes: Lupita Nyong’o Officially Joins ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ Cast

Take that racist Jedi weirdos! Lupita Nyong’o Officially Joins “Star Wars: Episode VII” Cast Via The Washington Post: Finally, Lupita Nyong’o’s first post-Oscar role has been made official: “Star Wars: Episode VII.” No word on what breakout star Nyongo’o, who swept award season with a devastating turn in “12 Years a Slave,” will play in the highly anticipated franchise film directed by J.J. Abrams. Production company Lucasfilm made the announcement Monday morning; also joining Nyong’o is actress Gwendoline Christie (“Game of Thrones,” “Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2″). “I could not be more excited about Lupita and Gwendoline joining the cast of ‘Episode VII,’” Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy said in a statement. “It’s thrilling to see this extraordinarily talented ensemble taking shape.” The previously announced cast includes original stars Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) and Kenny Baker (R2-D2). In addition, newcomers John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson and Max von Sydow. The news broke in a grand announcement in late April, after weeks of rumors about who would reunite for the film, scheduled for a Dec. 18, 2015, release. There’s been lots of chatter about Nyong’o’s next big career move, especially in light of her Oscar win and the unfortunately typical type of lackluster roles out there for younger actresses — the 31-year-old had stayed quiet on that front since award season. She’s reportedly in talks for a voiceover part in a new adaptation of “The Jungle Book,” and she recently optioned the film rights to Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s novel “Americanah.” There are rumors that Nyong’o could be playing Obi-Wan-Kenobi’s descendent in the film. What you think? Is little Lupita a good fit for “Star Wars”?
