Ah, awards season. What a perfect time for a new Ron Howard film about a difficult ethical quandary starring…Vince Vaughn and Kevin James? Huh? It opens with a gay joke? And then follows that with Queen Latifah talking about her “lady wood?” Ohh, I see. It’s actually a another comedy about guys who like each other more than their wives, opening over a year after the amiable I Love You Man already took “bromance” past it’s peak.

Eclipse box office result 2010

“Eclipse,” about a romance between a teen and a vampire, will open in more than 4,400 U.S. and Canada theaters, a record number of venues and one that almost guarantees a blockbuster. Hollywood hopes the sleepy summer box office gets jolted awake by vampire film “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” when it debuts on Wednesday, ahead of what some experts believe will be a $175 million-plus opening over five days.
