Kristen Stewart Says She’s ‘Having Fun’ Promoting ‘Eclipse’

‘Now, I’m not nervous about what I say,’ actress tells MTV News of doing interviews. By Josh Wigler Kristen Stewart Photo: MTV News Kristen Stewart is having fun. Now, that might not sound like a groundbreaking statement. After all, the “Twilight” actress is a star of one of the decade’s single biggest franchises, not to mention the fact that her character is at the center of a romantic tug-of-war between heartthrobs Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. But Stewart has sometimes come under scrutiny for appearing less than enthused, even uncomfortable, during interviews. While out promoting “Eclipse,” though, a visibly upbeat Stewart told MTV News that she’s having a lot of fun promoting the franchise’s upcoming third installment, due June 30. “I’m not forcing myself to do it. I’m actually just naturally having more fun with it,” she said of doing press for the movie. “You get to talk about stuff that you normally don’t really think about, so there’s an interesting aspect to it.” Stewart said that her outlook has changed because she’s grown more relaxed and less self-conscious about the kinds of topics she’s asked to address during interviews. “The only thing that really freaked me out before was just getting nervous about what I said,” she explained. “Now, I’m not nervous about what I say — just because I know what I want to say. Before, I didn’t. I had nothing to say. As an actor, it’s like, ‘OK, cool, I’m so interesting and I’m just going to sit here and talk about myself and look like that’s important to other people.’ That was always hard for me to do, so I looked, like, rude or whatever. But I’m having more fun with it now, as you can probably tell!” KStew is feeling less nervous about doing press these days: Do you think she gets a bad rap about her interviews? Kristen Stewart Says Jacob Becomes ‘Desirable’ To Bella In ‘Eclipse’

‘These are real people dealing with real problems; they’re not just vampires and wolves,’ Stewart tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Kristen Stewart Photo: MTV News The characters in the “Twilight Saga” have been through a lot. In “Eclipse,” due June 30, Kristen Stewart says the trials and tribulations faced by Bella, Edward and Jacob are about to come to a head. And, things are going to get really real, really fast. “There’s a moment right before the big battle happens; Jacob gets emotional and crazy, and he’s gonna try and hurt himself and fight,” Stewart told MTV News about one of her favorite scenes. “And [Bella] gets to a point where the only way to save him is to kiss him, and what surprises her is, she’s not only able to do it; she can clearly see that he offers a really desirable path that, before, because she was so obsessed with Edward … she just had to like nothing else. She had no perspective, and so it’s a moment.” Jacob making a strong case to win over Bella makes the supernatural “Twilight” characters seem more human than ever, Stewart said. “If she’s ever reeled, it’s that moment, and then two seconds after, she has to go talk to Edward about it, and he’s heard everything,” she said. “So it’s a little bit more … it’s just not as fantasy. It’s like a little bit more real. These are real people dealing with real problems; they’re not just vampires and wolves.” This real issue all stems back to the flick’s overarching love triangle , which becomes more intense in this film. “The love triangle is real,” Stewart said. “In [‘Eclipse’], she is just older and a little bit more [wise]. Now you really believe her. It took awhile for her to know herself well enough to make a decision.” We’ll be live at the L.A. premiere of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” on Thursday, June 24. Ed Schultz Hates Country Star Lee Greenwood’s Patriotic Song ‘God Bless the USA’

Brian Maloney at Radio Equalizer found Ed Schultz on his radio show Tuesday mocked country star Lee Greenwood and his patriotic song “God Bless the USA,” which he suggested was an anthem for American imperialism. Remember when every time we invaded an oil-rich country or any time there was any kind of confrontation, we were subjected to — ad nauseam , I might add — [mock sings, really badly] “God bless the USA.” That Lee Greenwood song…I mean, Every single event! Every time we were marching to the flowers put at our feet in Iraq, it was more Lee Greenwood! [mock singing again] “God bless the USA!” Man, we need an oil spill song is what we need! We need to get somebody — [laughs at himself] Some idea, somewhere, some songwriter out there’s gotta come up with something, to remind us, just like Lee Greenwood reminded us that it was the right thing to do to love America and invade everybody. We need some song out there to remind us that, [sings] “It’s BP!” Greenwood’s song, written in 1983, expresses a love for our flag standing for freedom and for American soldiers: “I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free / And I won’t forget the men who died who gave that right to me.” Ed Schultz finds that too sickening to sit through. That’s not the worst attack on Greenwood. Snopes dismissed the smear that Greenwood was a Vietnam-era draft dodger. He was deferred because he was a father at 17.

Chris Paul Recalls Having The ‘X-Factor’ On ‘When I Was 17′

New Orleans Hornets star and his high school friends called their crew the X-Factor and even had hoodies made. By MTV News staff Chris Paul Photo: MTV News Seven years before he made his third NBA All-Star team, five years before he played for the U.S. in the Olympics, and three years before he won the NBA’s Rookie of the Year Award, Chris Paul was just a 17-year-old high school kid who enjoyed hanging out with his friends as much as shooting hoops. OK, maybe not as much — Paul was named North Carolina’s Mr. Basketball during his senior year, after all. But as we learn in the upcoming episode of MTV’s “When I Was 17,” the New Orleans Hornets point guard has as many memories of chilling with his pals as he does about raining 3’s over their heads. And not all of those memories come off looking so cool years later. Case in point: the crew he and his friends created. “We had a little crew called the X-Factor,” Paul revealed. The group was comprised mostly of football players, with the 6-foot-tall Paul contributing his fast feet, if not bulk. “We felt like we needed something to set ourselves apart, so we had jackets made,” he said. “Then going down the sleeve it said ‘X-Factor.’ ” The sweatshirts were white with mint-green graphics. There were hand-drawn, comic book-style musclemen placed here and there, a photo silkscreened on the back and a quote from Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Paul and his boys thought they were pretty cool. Paul’s brother CJ was less than impressed. “I just remember Chris came home, had a hoodie that said ‘X-Factor’ on it,” CJ laughed. “I thought they were very lame.” But to this day, Paul remains proud of his crew and their gear. “There’s always going to be haters,” he said. “But I think they were more envious, because whatever they were a part of would never be bigger and better than the X-Factor.” “When I Was 17” — this week featuring Chris Paul, Pitbull and Vanessa Minnillo — airs Saturday at 11 a.m. on MTV. Kristen Stewart Says ‘The Love Triangle Is Real’ In ‘Eclipse’

‘It took a while for her to know herself well enough to make a decision,’ Stewart tells MTV News of Bella. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Kristen Stewart Photo: MTV News We all know that Bella chooses Edward, but in “Eclipse,” Jacob has a shot for, like, a hot minute at maybe stealing the would-be vampire away from her true love. Kristen Stewart said that’s one of the things she loves about the film: Bella, now on the brink of making a major life decision, is finally empowered enough to feel like Jacob could be the guy for her. “I feel like she goes through so many traumatic events, and when she gets to the end of them, she feels a little bit more righteous than she did before,” she told MTV News. “A little bit more knowing and sort of like, ‘I’ve lived. Take my word for it. I know what I want.’ And nobody ever puts any stock in what she’s saying.” Instead, Stewart said, “Bella’s just sort of the dumb young girl who doesn’t know what it’s like to be a vampire, and it’s not about that for her. This whole vampire thing is going to be hard, but she’s a strong girl and she can make sacrifices. “What I like about ‘Eclipse’ is that … she really, actually looks at someone else, and it shatters her ideals,” Stewart added. So what does that mean for Bella, Edward and Jacob? “The love triangle is real,” Stewart said. “In [‘Eclipse’], she is just older and a little bit more [wise]. Now you really believe her. It took awhile for her to know herself well enough to make a decision.” We’ll be live at the L.A. premiere of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” on Thursday, June 24.
