She earned a special place in our hearts for an emotional, humble speech in which the superstar said Carrie Underwood “damn well” deserved the honor instead. “Last night, a huge dream of mine came true,” Lambert added while choking back tears. “I went from being a little girl singing in a hairbrush to watching Shania Twain with Faith Hill and Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson.
