Kanye West Is Planning Something But Nobody Knows What It Is Yet Kanye West somehow swindled MTV into giving him four minutes at the VMAs to do “whatever he wants.” Given Kanye’s previous behavior of doing wild stuff when he hasn’t been given a pass, there’s a certain amount of tension in the air for what he might pull off. That tension that might be hitting danger levels because as of right now, a few hours before the VMAs is scheduled to be on TV, Kanye hasn’t even rehearsed yet. Via TMZ Kanye West ‘s MTV VMA performance is shrouded in so much secrecy, he hasn’t even taken the stage for a ‘run through’ … just hours before the live awards show kicks off. Our sources backstage at the VMA’s tell us, unlike other artists, Yeezy has not performed a rehearsal of whatever the hell he plans to do on stage, and “nobody knows what he’s doing.” However … we’re told execs aren’t too worried because they know Kanye delivers when it counts. As we previously reported, Kanye gets 4 minutes to do whatever he wants , including talking, rapping, dancing, or even just staring at the crowd. Britney Spears’ Las Vegas show was said to be selling poorly out of the gate, according to earlier reports. Well, those reports look to have been wrong. The pop star’s people are calling “Piece of Me” the “best-selling show in the history of Vegas” before she’s even debuted … and they may not be far off. Britney Spears Ticket Sales Sluggish? Britney Spears will be performing 48 shows a year for the next two years, for around $300,000 each. Seats are already available now for the first 16 shows. For those 16 concerts, a total of 73,600 tickets were for sale. The number of tickets actually sold? 70,242. In like a week. Of the 3,358 remaining, 2,887 are in nosebleed territory. Whether it’s the ” best-selling show in the history of Vegas” or not is hard to prove. But it almost doesn’t matter, because she is about to OWN Vegas. Planet Hollywood sources say they are thinking about adding shows if Britney’s game – again, all before she’s taken the stage there – in the coming years. It’s Britney’s world. Bitch. The Strokes, Arcade Fire and Phoenix also headline the August fest in Chicago. Early Tuesday morning (April 6), organizers of the granddaddy of U.S. summer fests revealed the lineup for the 2010 edition of Lolla, and Gaga’s name is atop the list, joined by fellow headliners Green Day, the recently reunited Soundgarden, the reformed Stokes, the Arcade Fire and Phoenix. Most of the headliners for the Chicago festival have some connection to Lollapalooza’s past. Lady Gaga was a relatively unknown side-stage performer in 2007; Green Day and the Arcade Fire have both taken the stage at the fest, and Soundgarden were twice a part of the original touring version of Lolla, having played the trek in both 1992 and 1996. Since splitting in 1997, they have not performed live together. The Lollapalooza gig will also be a return to the stage for the Strokes, who have not performed together in more than four years. Joining those headliners on the bill are MGMT, Hot Chip, the National, Erykah Badu, AFI, Grizzly Bear, Spoon, B.o.B., 2ManyDJs, the New Pornographers, the xx and Switchfoot. There are also legends like Jimmy Cliff and Devo, a jam-band or two (Blues Traveler) and even Chicago-area talent, most notably soul belter Mavis Staples. You can view the entire lineup — some 120 artists, with more to be announced in the coming weeks — over on the fest’s official site . Lollapalooza 2010 will be held August 6-8 in Chicago’s Grant Park. Passes are already on sale, though “early bird” packages are long gone.
