AP – Police investigating the death of former boxing champion Arturo Gatti are working on the assumption his wife strangled him with her purse strap while he drunkenly slept.

Former boxing champion Arturo Gatti, who was to testify in a trial in New York this week in a lawsuit against the New York State Athletic commission by former opponent Joey Gamache, has been found dead in Brazil. Gatti was 37 years old.
