Early this morning, R.L. hit us with his new mixtape “The Return II,” which got us thinking about just how much we do love and appreciate R&B . So we figured, in addition to his offering, we would bring you an all R&B edition of the BoomBox today. R.L. – Mixup II Our favorite of all the dope songs we found on R.L.’s mixtape (which you can get here ) is this medley, where he takes on three songs you know and love: “Before I Let You Go” by Blackstreet, Prince’s “I Would Die For You” and, just to show there are no hard feelings, Jagged Edge’s “Let’s Get Married.” Flawlessly. Verse Simmonds – Love No Glove You probably thought you could do without another song using that bed springs sound effect. You’re gonna love this one anyway. From Verse’s new “Sextape Chronicles II” mixtape, which you can get here Syleena Johnson – Like Thorns Syleena is slowly, but surely, making her way back to the top, championing the cause of grown-woman heartache along the way. Robin Thicke – I’m An Animal We LOVE Robin Thicke. We really do. This song though… Shontelle – Reflection Hmm… We really didn’t realize that Rihanna 2.0 had two albums on the books already! This cut from her forth coming third album is all kinds of light and positivity and happiness… Maybe we should call Shontelle the Anti-Rihanna then… Bonus : Kiyana – Take Me Away Meet New Black Kid On The Block Kiyana. She’s 21, and could very well the next torchbearer to carry on the legacy of Mary J. Blige. Keep an eye on this one…
