LL Cool J Defends "Accidental Racist," Proud of Controversial Single

LL Cool J is standing up for ” Accidental Racist .” The track – released today as part of Brad Paisley’s new albu –  features the country singer crooning about life in the South, while the rapper jumps in about what it’s like to be African-American in society. LL refers to himself in the song as a “new fangled Django,” while Paisley says his native region is still “siftin through the rubble” of “Reconstruction.” Accidental Racist – Brad Paisley and LL Cool J As you might expect, such a topic has generated a lot of controversy, but LL tells CNN that he’s “proud” of the duet. “Music is about, and art is about, connecting different people, and building bridges and breaking the rules,” he said. “If it’s not compelling, and it’s not complex and it’s not interesting, then what are we doing it for? So I think that’s the right move.” The rapper concludes that he needed to “shake things up” and he hopes the world “hears and enjoys” the track. They sure have heard it. But have they enjoyed it?
