Chicago Woman Dies After Being Beaten To Death With Sledgehammer A Chicago woman who was killed during a domestic violence incident reportedly died from injuries caused by being beaten with a sledgehammer. via Chicago Tribune A 39-year-old woman was killed in an apparent domestic incident in Addison overnight, according to police and sources. Police responded to the 900 block of North Craig Place to investigate a domestic disturbance at 3:12 a.m. Friday, Addison police said in a statement. Police were not releasing any other information except to say that it was an isolated incident. The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified the woman as Martha Worley, who lives at the address where the incident occurred. Sources said the woman was beaten with a sledgehammer and at least one other person was stabbed in the throat. Sources indicated that the offender was also injured and hospitalized. Worley was pronounced dead about 5 p.m. Friday at Loyola University Medical Center. She had suffered blunt head trauma prior to her death, a spokesman for the medical examiner’s office said.
