Source: Star Tribune via Getty Images / Getty Sebastian Telfair Sentencing Turns Into A Scene Sebastian Telfair is heading to prison over the gun charges he racked up in the summer of 2017 and he’s not taking it gracefully at all. On Monday, Telfair was sentenced to 3 and a half years in prison and a complete meltdown over the sentencing ensued. The father began crying, foaming at the mouth while screaming in defense of himself. According to Daily Mail, he yelled: ‘Please don’t take me from society right now,’ Telfair told the court. ‘I am 34. I can go play in China for six years and take care of my family. I’m waiting for my daughter right now to get her period. Real mental illness because I wasn’t around… She hasn’t even gotten her period yet.’ The ex-NBA star was accused by officers of possessing three loaded handguns, a submachine gun, extended magazines, ammunition, and a ballistic vest. The officers also claimed to have smelled the scent of marijuana coming from his vehicle and a “roach” or smoked piece of weed was said to be found in the car as well. Telfair denied being in possession of drugs during his outburst. ‘I’m being convicted on perjury. Your honor, I swear he took it out his pocket. Nobody was smoking right there. Nobody was smoking your honor. What my community gonna do? We’ve been doing basketball classes for 15 years. Don’t let them do this to me.” He was completely devastated from the clip. Source: Mirrorpix / Getty Colorado Springs Police Kill Teen De’Von Bailey Folks in the Colorado Springs community have gathered to demand justice for 19-year-old De’Von Bailey who was gunned down by police under suspicious circumstances to say the very least. Surveillance footage captures portions of the incident according to a report on CBS Denver . Although the beginning of De’Von’s interaction with police isn’t seen, we can see what appears to officers firing their guns at him while he is running away from them. There is no audio so it isn’t totally clear when the shots were fired. The department’s official stance on the incident is that De’Von was a robbery suspect, which is all well and good, but doesn’t exactly explain why FATAL FORCE was required. Even more quizzical is De’Von’s father’s reaction to his Black son’s death at the hands of a white state agent. “I don’t want to make this about Black Lives Matter or anything, because all of our lives matter. I know everyone says my son was killed by a white cop and he’s a black man in the community. And yes, those are the facts, but that’s not what this is about. This is about what’s right is right and what’s wrong is wrong. What’s wrong is my son was shot in the back by law enforcement,” he said. Uh, ok. CSPD says the body camera video that was captured by the officers during the shooting will be released to the public this week.
A Wisconsin teacher was recently placed on administrative leave after he allegedly ripped several braids from an 11-year-old student’s scalp. According to WISC-TV , the young girl’s mother, Mikiea Price, claims the assault happened on Feb. 13 by the hands of Madison Metropolitan School District’s acting principal and positive behavior support coach Rob Mueller-Owens. Price states that the incident happened when Mueller-Owens got upset when her daughter and a friend that sprayed some perfume in class. When the girls did not listen to him to stop, they were instructed to leave the class. “When he came in, he asked (my daughter) to step out and she didn’t listen, and didn’t step out and as he walked toward her, she said she went toward the window and just wasn’t following direction, and he told her in front of the whole class, to the teacher, ‘Take the class somewhere else,’” Price told Madison365 . “And (my daughter) said, ‘No, that’s fine. They can stay, I’ll go.’ As the girl was walking out of the classroom, Price said, Mueller-Owens began pushing her out. Soon after, she fell into a row of lockers, where the teacher lost his balance and fell on top of her. It’s believed that somewhere in this scuffle, three of her braids got ripped out. The incident was caught on tape and is currently being reviewed by the Madison police and the school district. The video has yet to be released to the public. Now, her child is too afraid to come back to class. “Just the whole experience is just traumatic and devastating and just confusing,” Price told WISC-TV. She added, “I’m just disgusted at this whole incident. You know I send my kid to school to learn, and that’s a place where mothers send their kids to be comfortable in. I just feel violated in so many ways that … this even happened to her.” Price is also disappointed because Mueller-Owen is an expert on restorative discipline practices, which focuses on getting to the root of behavioral problems with positive techniques. “That’s the devastating part about it,” Price said. “That’s the disgusting part about it. To have that much education and that much training and that much knowledge, to be certified with kids and not follow protocol, I think that’s the part that hurt me the most and disappointed me the most.” The Madison Metropolitan School District released the following statement: “As a District, we take any situation of this nature very seriously. All of our students need to be safe and supported in school, and we have a thorough investigation process and protocol that we follow. While we cannot talk about the details of a specific student or personnel situation, it is our responsibility to consider all of the facts of the situation and determine the right next steps. The staff person was put on leave while the situation was investigated. Based on that investigation, the staff person will not return to Whitehorse Middle School, and we are determining next steps. Both of the women say they were 16 the night they met R. Kelly at a concert in Baltimore. The night concluded with Kelly instructing his manager to bring them back to his hotel, when he entered the room with his penis out, allegedly. Kelly then allegedly tried to force a threesome while they were both under the influence of alcohol and marijuana. One of the women refused, both claimed to be scarred from the incident. Jussie Smollett has gone from victim to pariah. On Thursday morning, the Empire actor was arrested and charged with falsifying a police report; the felony could land Smollett in prison for up to three years. Police have subsequently released his mug shot. Before we get into the damning accusations leveled at Smollett during a press conference held by Chicago Police Superintendent. Eddie Johnson today, a quick rehashing of how we got here: Smollett claimed to authorities on January 29 that he was assaulted by two white men around 2 a.m. on the streets of Chicago. He said they yelled racial and homophobic slurs at him; screamed that he was in “MAGA country;” tied a rope around his neck; and poured bleah all over him. The story made national headlines and was commented on by President Trump, Democratic candidates for President in 2020 and, of course, many celebrities from across Hollywood. HOWEVER… … about two weeks after the allegations were made, a pair of brothers from Nigeria were arrested by the police. We quickly learned that these siblings worked as Smollett’s personal trainers and also as extras on Empire. Questions were raised about whether Smollett staged the assault with these men, although the motive why was never made clear. But Johnson addressed both the supposed motive and other aspects of the investigation/arrest in his press conference this morning. We’ve posted his quotes below in bold. Empire Star Under Investigation [UPDATED] First, Johnson said he understands why this incident garnered such attention, but made an important general point at the outset of the media gathering: Before I get started I look out into the crowd, I just wish that the families of gun violence in this city got this much attention because that’s who really deserves the amount of attention that we are giving to this particular in distinct. Johnson then went hard after Smollett for the way he exploited the legitimate problem of racism and homophobia for his own selfish purposes. This announcement today recognizes that empire actor Jussie Smollett took advantage of the pain and anger of racism to promote his career. I’m left hanging my head and asking why. He added: Why would anyone — especially an African-American man — use the symbolism of a noose to make false accusations? How could someone look at the hatred and suffering associated with that symbol and see an opportunity to manipulate that symbol to further his own public profile? Johnson said Smollett was reportedly unsatisfied with his salary on Empire and paid $3,500 to the aforementioned siblings to stage the attack on himself. A week prior to the fake beating, Smollett received a threatening letter (below), which Johnson said the star sent to himself, referring to this as a false letter that relied on racial, homophobic and political language and adding: This publicity stunt was a scar that Chicago didn’t earn and certainly didn’t deserve. The phony assault took place on the street, as Smollett claimed all along. The two men, who were wearing gloves, punched Smollett “a little bit,” Superintendent Johnson said. However, the scratches and bruises on his face were likely self-inflicted, he continued. Addressing concerns that this incident was given extra attention due to a celebrity being at the center of it, Johnson took extreme umbrage. Any time a hate crime is reported in the city of Chicago, it gets the same attention. This didn’t get any special attention… We give every hate crime in this city the same amount of vigor because there is no place for hatred in this city. No personnel nor any resources were pulled from homicide or shooting investigations to help with the Smollett case. Based on phone records, Smollett talked to the Nigerian brothers about an hour before the staged attack. When we discovered the actual motive, quite frankly, it pissed everybody off because we have to invest valuable resources. Johnson said he hasn’t seen Smollett’s full interview with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America, but he’s viewed snippets and is well aware of the case Jussie tried to make on his own behalf. To be quite honest, it’s shameful because it painted this city that we all love and work hard in in a negative connotation. Nothing, but… Absolute justice would be an apology to this city that he smeared, admitting what he did and then be man enough to offer what he should offer up in terms of resources put into this. Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has also now issued a statement. It reads as follows: I want to thank all of the Chicago police officers who have worked on this case, and all of the private citizens and business owners who have stepped forward with information and video evidence to help us get to the bottom of what was reported as a hate crime. All across Chicago, in every neighborhood, there are signs in front yards and in windows that read, “Hate Has No Home Here.” It is a sign that expresses our shared values and defines our great city. Chicago’s message to the world is that no matter where you come from, who you love, or how you pray you will always have a home here. Our laws exist to reflect and defend those values, and hate crimes will never be tolerated. A single individual who put their perceived self-interest ahead of these shared principles will never trump Chicago’s collective spirit.
Source: Splash News / Getty Usher & Rich The Kid’s Crew Attacked Prayers up for Usher and Rich the Kid ‘s entourage who were reportedly robbed and pistol whipped during a studio attack in Los Angeles. According to TMZ : Multiple shots were fired — possibly as many as 10 — during the incident at Westlake Recording Studio according to eyewitnesses. We’re told the man who opened fired was running away from the studio when he started shooting behind him. Law enforcement sources tell us Usher was in the studio, but not hurt … and Rich the Kid was outside the studio when it all went down. Multiple entourage members were attacked though, and at least one bodyguard was badly pistol whipped. Fortunately, no one was shot during the senseless attack. Police are currently surrounding the studio looking for suspects.
The NYPD has released footage of a young woman who they say became angry over a beef patty — or lack thereof. The footage shows a woman smashing the windows of Back Home Restaurant in the Bronx with an aluminum baseball bat after the restaurant ran out of beef patties. According to the owner , it costs almost $2,000 to repair the glass windows, and employees are still picking up shattered glass weeks after the incident which occured back in January. Police are still on the hunt for the suspect.
Source: Metropolitan Nashville Police Dept. / Mugshots Nashville Teens To Be Charged With Murder Of Kyle Yorlets Five teens, the youngest being 12, were arrested in the shooting death and robbery of 24-year-old singer Kyle Yorlets in Tennessee. According to NY Daily News , Metropolitan Nashville Police identified three of the teens in a Friday news release as Roniyah McKnight, 14, Diamond Lewis, 15, and Decorrius Wright, 16. The other suspects are a 12-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy. Tennessee law prohibits the identification of juveniles under age 13. Reports say Yorlets was shot outside his Nashville home Thursday afternoon. Police believe the kids forced the man to hand over his wallet then shot him after he refused to give up his car. The kids got away in a stolen red Chevrolet Colorado pick-up truck and was later abandoned. Kyle Yorlets was a Pennsylvania native, Belmont University graduate and was a singer in the pop/rock band Caverton. In the incident, all five teens will charged with criminal homicide.

Now, it’s come out that the FBI is looking into mail sent to the studios where Empire is filmed to gather more intel. TMZ reports : Sources on set tell us a private security company was hired by the show and met with FBI agents to establish a protocol for inspecting all incoming mail. We’re told the team wears gloves so the evidence in question is not contaminated. The security team has 2 functions … to flag threatening, incoming mail and alert the FBI, and to possibly link new items to the letter Jussie already received, containing homophobic and racists epithets along with an image of a noose. Our sources say the security team has already flagged “hate mail,” but we’re told that it’s nothing new. The show has been targeted by racists and homophobes in the past, but now everyone is on high alert and the FBI is screening all of it.
