Source: Splash News / Getty Usher & Rich The Kid’s Crew Attacked Prayers up for Usher and Rich the Kid ‘s entourage who were reportedly robbed and pistol whipped during a studio attack in Los Angeles. According to TMZ : Multiple shots were fired — possibly as many as 10 — during the incident at Westlake Recording Studio according to eyewitnesses. We’re told the man who opened fired was running away from the studio when he started shooting behind him. Law enforcement sources tell us Usher was in the studio, but not hurt … and Rich the Kid was outside the studio when it all went down. Multiple entourage members were attacked though, and at least one bodyguard was badly pistol whipped. Fortunately, no one was shot during the senseless attack. Police are currently surrounding the studio looking for suspects.

Barack Obama took a moment after landing in Warsaw, Poland to speak out on the senseless killings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile this afternoon…and let American citizens know that killings like these should concern all of us, not just the Black Lives they directly affect: “We have seen tragedies like these too many times. When incidents like this occur, there’s a big chunk of our fellow citizenry that feels as if – because of the color of their skin – they are not being treated the same. And that hurts. Leave it to Lin-Manuel Miranda to find a powerful, unique way to honors those killed in the Orlando shooting early Sunday morning. The creator and star of Hamilton, which dominated the 2016 Tony Awards last night, made a powerful statement while accepting the Tony Award for Best Original Score (Music and/or Lyrics) Written for the Theatre category. It was written in sonnet form and it opened by thanking his wife, before Miranda moved on to paying tribute to the 50 victims who were killed inside a gay nightclub . “We chase the melodies that seem to find us until they’re finished songs and start to play,” Miranda said. “When senseless acts of tragedy remind us that nothing here is promised, not one day.” He later added: Love is love is love is love is love is love is love is love cannot be killed or swept aside. “I hadn’t written anything going into today. I hadn’t heard about the day’s events until after our Tony rehearsal,” Miranda said backstage after the ceremony, during which Hamilton won 11 awards including best musical. “I’d always had this time between rehearsal and tonight to think about what I’d say if I was lucky enough to be called up, and it sort of informed all of it… “We live in this world where beautiful and horrible things exist at the same time and often on the same day. … Theater doesn’t exist without the LGBTQ community. It’s the cornerstone of our industry.” Earlier in the Tony Awards, host James Corden also honored the victims of the Orlando shooting. “Hate will never win,” he remarked in pre-taped remarks before the event began. Chicago Police Release Footage Of Laquan McDonald Shooting Well, the Chicago Police Department said that the video footage would be made public today , and they delivered right on schedule. The officer who shot Laquan McDonald 16 times, resulting in the 17-year-old’s death, is currently facing first degree murder charges . After looking at this heartbreaking video, we can certainly see why. We are honestly exhausted of seeing and sharing footage like this. SMH. Unsurprisingly, the video footage has caused renewed outrage, and protesters are currently taking to the streets of Chicago to protest and voice their outrage over this senseless police killing. Via CNN : Protesters took to the streets of Chicago late Tuesday after police released a graphic dash-cam video showing an officer shooting 17-year-old Laquan McDonald. McDonald was killed in October 2014. The city’s mayor has called for peace. “I believe this is a moment that can build bridges of understanding rather than become a barrier of misunderstanding. I understand that the people will be upset and will want to protest when they see this video,” Mayor Rahm Emanuel said. “We as a city must rise to this moment.” Chicago has been preparing for protests in advance of the video’s release, which was ordered by a judge to happen no later than Wednesday. Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy acknowledged that residents “have a right to be angry.” Soon after the video’s release, a group of protesters began marching, chanting “16 shots” and “We got to fight back!” McDonald died after being shot 16 times. “People have a right to be angry, people have a right to protest, people have a right to free speech,” McCarthy said. “But they do not have a right to commit criminal acts.” Of course not. Mom Stabs Son To Death With Kitchen Knife This is so sad. According to Tampa Bay Times: Sherry Ford heard screams coming from outside her home Friday evening and stepped out the front door. On the sidewalk across the street, a woman held her 4-year-old son in her arms. His head rested against her shoulder, his bottom was cupped in her hands. The boy didn’t move. The mother held a kitchen knife. “Let him go, let him go, let him go,” said the boy’s grandmother, who stood next to the woman and child. The mother responded by pressing the knife against her son’s ribs, Ford said. Neighbors flagged down nearby police officers, who arrived and saw the boy was significantly injured. Officers told the woman to hand over the child. She laid him on the grass. The officers took her into custody and began treating the boy. Police said he suffered multiple stab wounds inflicted by his mother, Tasha Trotter, 40. Investigators on Friday night were trying to sort out why Trotter killed her son. She refused to talk to detectives and later was taken to the Pinellas County Jail on a first-degree murder charge. Police said family members told investigators that she has a history of mental illness and has been in and out of several treatment facilities.
