A Black British soccer player ignored the racist abuse yelled at him from a fan but commented on how it was fueled by the racial bias of some media outlets, which is also seen in the United States. SEE ALSO: Texas Official Defends Racist Stereotype: ‘You Can’t Count On A Black Quarterback’ England and Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling said Sunday that irresponsible media outlets to “fuel racism” through their portrayal of young Black soccer players, the Guardian reported. His remarks appeared on social media after the police launched an investigation into a fan of the opposing team who was recorded on video at Saturday’s match allegedly yelling a racial slur at Sterling. It happened in the first half of a match against Chelsea when Sterling went to pick up the ball in front of the stands. “…For all the newspapers that don’t understand why people are racists in this day and age, all I have to say is have a second thought about fair publicity and give all players an equal chance,” Sterling wrote on Instagram . BT are apparently investigating the footage of Sterling being racially abused. 1st time I saw this pic i thought Sterling was laughing in their faces whilst they shouted. I hope that’s what he did. Look how angry they are. No place for this venom in football #MCFC #Sterling pic.twitter.com/WVs5oo7yOb — Paul McGarraghy (@PaulMcGarraghy) December 8, 2018 In his media post, Sterling gave the example of a young Black player who was criticized in a newspaper article for “splashing” his salary on a mansion before he even played his first professional match. Sterling said the rookie buying a house for his mother was the right thing to do, but Sterling also noted that the paper failed to criticize a young white player who did the same thing. “This young Black kid is looked at in a bad light,” Sterling stated. A University of Missouri researcher in 2015 reported similar media racial bias in the United States on how athletes are covered. Stories on African-American athletes focus primarily on criminal actions while stories about white athletes are overwhelmingly positive. Among the findings, more than 66 percent of the crime stories involved Black athletes while only 22 percent involved white athletes. More than 70 percent of domestic violence stories involved Black athletes and only 17 percent involved white athletes. “True cultural sensitivity requires the eradication of racial and ethnic stereotyping; thus, journalists and reporters must reflect on how their own unfounded beliefs about race differences in sports likely contribute to the stereotyping of black athletes as engaged in more criminal activity and innately physically gifted yet lacking in intelligence and strong work ethics,” the researcher Cynthia Frisby said. By Sunday morning, the authorities had not arrested the fan. “We are aware of a video circulating online in which it is claimed racial abuse was allegedly directed at a player … We will review the footage to determine whether any offences have been committed,” a statement from the Metropolitan police said. Man Arrested For Trespassing On White House Property Late Last Night He just wanted to see the President . What’s the big deal? CNN is reporting that a man wearing a backpack was arrested late last night after he scaled a White House fence en route to pay a visit to Donald. The tangerine chief was on the property at the time. When asked about he purpose for trespassing on White House property, the man told Secret Service: “No, I am a friend of the President. I have an appointment,” the suspect said when approached by an officer, according to a report released Saturday by the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police Department. Asked how he got there, the suspect told officers: “I jumped the fence.” Here’s how well the Secret Service does their job, this guy reportedly jumped the Treasury Building fence, but was not detected until he was seen by an agent who happened to be on the grounds. Now, here’s an ironic joke: The White House was placed under security condition “orange,” one of the highest levels of security for the Secret Service, an agency source said. LMFAO! All this guy wanted to do was “see” the President? Ya know? The same way some of us want to “see” George Zimmerman. Image via AP/Shutterstock

Lena Dunham would like to put this month’s most unexpected feud to rest. She’d like to apologize to New York Giants star Odell Beckham Jr. The Girls actress and creator stirred up a bit of controversy this week after making comments to Amy Schumer in an interview for the Lenny Letter website. Dunham thought back to this spring’s MET Gala in New York City and her awkward experience there, talking to Schumer about what it was like to sit next to Beckham Jr. “It was so amazing because it was like he looked at me and he determined I was not the shape of a woman by his standards,” Dunham explained . She went on to make some big assumptions about what the wide receiver was thinking. Although the main crux of her point was how she did not fit in such at this sort of fashionable event. “He was like, ‘That’s a marshmallow. That’s a child. That’s a dog.’ It wasn’t mean – he just seemed confused,” Lena continued. “The vibe was very much like, ‘Do I want to f-ck it? Is it wearing a … yep, it’s wearing a tuxedo. I’m going to go back to my cell phone.'” Critics came out in force after Dunham made these comments because they were based solely on conjecture and they didn’t pain Beckham Jr. in a great light. Dunham concluded at the time: “It was like we were forced to be together, and he literally was scrolling Instagram rather than have to look at a woman in a bow tie. “I was like, ‘This should be called the Metropolitan Museum of Getting Rejected by Athletes.'” After reading the backlash, Dunham Tweeted that Beckham was “super awesome” and she was simply being self-deprecating. Her comments were all about her and not about him at all. But now she’s issued a more formal apology. “I owe Odell Beckham Jr an apology,” Dunham wrote on Instagram yesterday. She added: “Despite my moments of bravado, I struggle at industry events (and in life) with the sense that I don’t rep a certain standard of beauty and so when I show up to the Met Ball surrounded by models and swan-like actresses it’s hard not to feel like a sack of flaming garbage.” She continued: “This felt especially intense with a handsome athlete as my dinner companion and a bunch of women I was sure he’d rather be seated with. “But I went ahead and projected these insecurities and made totally narcissistic assumptions about what he was thinking, then presented those assumptions as facts. “I feel terrible about it.” For the record, Beckham Jr. is one of the most exciting players in the NFL and may have dated Khloe Kardashian this summer. He has not commented on the flap. With accusations of white privilege and reverse sexism floating around the Internet, Dunham concluded as follows: “Because after listening to lots of valid criticism, I see how unfair it is to ascribe misogynistic thoughts to someone I don’t know AT ALL. Like, we have never met, I have no idea the kind of day he’s having or what his truth is. “But most importantly, I would never intentionally contribute to a long and often violent history of the over-sexualization of black male bodies- as well as false accusations by white women towards black men. “I’m so sorry, particularly to OBJ, who has every right to be on his cell phone. “The fact is I don’t know about his state of mind (I don’t know a lot of things) and I shouldn’t have acted like I did.” Seems like a pretty in-depth apology to us. Case closed? Case closed.
Odell Beckham Jr. is one of the best wide receivers in the National Football League. He makes some truly amazing catches. But Lena Dunham is the one now caught up in an unexpected feud with the New York Giants star as a result of comments she made to Amy Schumer. Allow us to explain… n the Lenny Letter interview with Schumer, Dunham wrote the following about the MET Fashion Gala in New York City this past spring: “I was sitting next to Odell Beckham Jr., and it was so amazing because it was like he looked at me and he determined I was not the shape of a woman by his standards. “He was like, ‘That’s a marshmallow. That’s a child. That’s a dog.’ It wasn’t mean – he just seemed confused.” For the record, this is what Dunham wore to the event, which draws a crowd of A-Listers each here from Hollywood: Continued the outspoken Girls creator: “The vibe was very much like, ‘Do I want to f-ck it? Is it wearing a … yep, it’s wearing a tuxedo. I’m going to go back to my cell phone.’ “It was like we were forced to be together, and he literally was scrolling Instagram rather than have to look at a woman in a bow tie. “I was like, ‘This should be called the Metropolitan Museum of Getting Rejected by Athletes.'” It didn’t take long for Twitter users to respond to Dunham. They thought it was offensive the way she described someone she really didn’t know, simply making assumptions about the athlete. (Beckham Jr. was rumored to have briefly dated Khloe Kardashian a few months ago.) “.@OBJ_3 is talented, stylish, seems super awesome and wasn’t into chatting with me at a fancy party,” Dunham Tweeted of the star. She added that her little tale to Schumer was all about self-deprecation. It was about her, not about Beckham. “My story about him was clearly (to me) about my own insecurities as an average-bodied woman at a table of supermodels & athletes. “It’s not an assumption about who he is or an expectation of sexual attention. It’s my sense of humor, which has kept me alive for 30 years.” Clearly perplexed and a bit annoyed over the criticism she received over this pretty funny story, Dunham then asked Schumer on Twitter: “Glad the outrage machine roars on though, right @amyschumer?” The wideout, who is entering his third season with the Giants, has yet to respond to Dunham on Twitter. Dunham does often say some wacky stuff. (See the gallery above). And she has had to apologize for certain comments, such as when she compared Internet backlash to domestic violence . But this? This seemed pretty darn harmless. She was joking that she’s too ugly for a young, attractive athlete to want to sleep with. Yes, somewhere in there is the assumption that this young, attractive athlete glances around at nearly every woman near him as someone he may want to sleep with. But you need to look REALLY hard to find a controversy here.
Bodyguard Fired By Kanye West Says He Never Had Affair With Kim Kardashian A bodyguard who claims Kanye West fired him for his interactions with Kim Kardashian is speaking out about the experience via NY DailyNews Steve Stanulis, a brawny former NYPD cop who has moonlighted as a Chippendale dancer, told the Daily News he was just doing his job when West thought he was flirting with Kim Kardashian and fired him in a fit of jealousy. “I’m not having an affair with Kim Kardashian, I’m not f—ing Kim Kardashian, I’m not doing anything with Kim Kardashian,” Stanulis told the Daily News Thursday. “Kanye needs to chill out.” After his bizarre beef with West, Stanulis doesn’t think he’ll be protecting the rapper during his upcoming tour in support of his “The Life of Pablo” album. “He’s the most condescending person I’ve ever met in my life,” Stanulis said. “I’ve worked with a lot of people in his position and higher a lot less self-absorbed and more humble.” Stanulis said his time with West came to an end as he was standing guard outside the Waldorf Astoria Monday as the celebrity couple prepared for the night’s Met Gala in the hotel’s presidential suite. He went upstairs to confer with someone from the West team about transportation to the gala when Kardashian answered the door. “She was just naturally speaking to me in a normal manner,” Stanulis said. “I would describe it as her being very gracious and having a nice dialogue. I was surprised she was very nice. She’s the polar opposite with me than he was.” Stanulis found out he’d been cut loose at West’s request shortly after 6 p.m., while waiting along with the rest of the entourage to drive the stars to Anna Wintour’s big bash at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. “What I could say was that him or his handlers didn’t like what they saw, the body language or what have you,” he said. “They may have thought there was something going on that wasn’t.” “My intent was not for this to happen,” Stanulis fumed. “When I’m walking outside my door and there are six guys with cameras asking me with my wife there ‘are you f—ing Kim Kardashian?’ I didn’t ask for that!” It turns out this isn’t the first negative experience the bodyguard has had with Yeezy either! Stanulis has protected West on several occasions this year — and said the pair have butted heads over Kardashian in the past. The hot-headed rapper and the chiseled bodyguard had a brief run-in at a fashion studio on Wooster St. during Fashion Week in February when West noticed Stalinus chatting with the 35-year-old “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star. “When they first asked me to do this gig again, I turned it down,” Stanulis said about his recent stint with the family. “I figured that since they were requesting me, the rapport with Kanye would be better.” The 42-year-old former NYPD officer has made looking after celebrities has business and counts Leonardo DiCaprio and Alanis Morissette among his clients. Stanulis, who is married and has three children, has also appeared in film and TV projects including “The Sopranos” and “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry.” “Me being here and this getting this much attention, it’s basically karma f—ing him in the a$$,” Stanulis said. “That’s what this is. It’s god’s way, he has a strange way of making things right.” Are you buying it or do you think the bodyguard is just badmouthing Ye for publicity? We ask because that’s pretty much the report coming from Kimye’s camp. According to TMZ reports Stanulis wasn’t fired because it was always supposed to be a temp job: Kanye West has no issue with bodyguards talking to Kim Kardashian, and absolutely did NOT fire one for doing so. Sources close to the Wests tell TMZ … Steve Stanulis was hired by the guy in charge of their security to help out before the Met Gala. We’re told it was very clear Stanulis would only be used for the day leading up to the event. That’s it, just a temp deal … we’re told. There were reports ‘Ye axed Stanulis for talking to Kim, but we’re told Yeezy never had a confrontation with him, and in fact … everything “went very smoothly”. Our Kimye sources say Stanulis has worked with them before, but since people in their camp believe he perpetuated the firing story for some publicity … he won’t get that chance again. Welp… Sounds like everyone is on the same page. This guy and Kanye don’t need to be anywhere near each other EVER again. AKM-GSI
