What You Need to Know Even though this camera is rugged, it’s the thinnest camera in our week of point and shoots. It’s only a little thicker than an iPhone. It feels solid. The camera is nice and small, so it’s easy to take anywhere. The buttons seem super small, too. The power and best shot buttons on the top are in-set too much and hard to press. While using the directional pad, you might accidentally hit the center button. On the plus side, there are shortcuts like the playback button turning on the camera and a one-touch movie record button. Its water-proof and drop-proof, but it’s also got dynamic photo mode that lets you put your subject in front of any background. In our extensive testing, it withstood anything we could throw at it. We took it snowboarding (and fell on it), took it to the beach (and lost it in the ocean), and generally beat the hell out of it. Dynamic photo allows you to take a picture of a subject, then cut it out and place it on any background, all on the camera; it doesn’t always work perfectly, but it’s fun. The pictures look surprisingly good. Normal light photos have vibrant colors and look exactly like you want them to, but as you get closer to them, they might be a little pixelated. Low light pictures are only okay; it gets the job done, but it’s more pixelated. Overall, you’ll be taking more pictures outside than inside.
