Tech Review: AVADirect Gaming PC

Watch Larger Version | Watch HD Version Usually budgeting and gaming PCs don’t go hand in hand, but AVADirect is out to change all of that with their gaming PC rigs. Kevin Pereira and Olivia Munn review this computer with its Intel Quad Core processor, 4 gigs of DDR3 RAM and ATI Radeon HD 5770 video card for under $1,000. Find the full review from Gadget Pron on Attack of the Show after the cut. What You Need to Know This is one of the smallest gaming towers we’ve ever reviewed at just over 1’ tall. It’s only 6” wide. The computer can be rotated to work on its side or as a tower. AVADirect did a great job of cable managing everything so it looks clean. There’s enough room for a huge video card (like the ATI we used in the review). You might have trouble getting RAM in the slot next to the heatsink, because it’s so big. There is also only one slot for video cards, so you won’t be able to expand with a second card. Overall, though, we were surprised with the amount of space in the case. It blows through games like Battlefield Bad Company 2 ; we maxed out pretty much every setting and it looks amazing. In our normal 3DMark Vantage Tests, it performed really well, scoring about 10,700 points. Price $1,000 We can finally recommend an affordable system that will play any new game on the market well. We are also really impressed with what AVADirect can do on a budget. Tech Review: Casio EXG1 Digital Camera

Watch Larger Version of this Video Casio proves that digital cameras can be both stylish and rugged, which is why Chris Hardwick and Alison Haislip review the EXG1, which is only 0.8″ thick, waterproof, freeze proof and shock proof. Throw in 12.1 megapixels, and this camera should be perfect for $240. Find out! Find the full review from Gadget Pron on Attack of the Show after the cut. What You Need to Know Even though this camera is rugged, it’s the thinnest camera in our week of point and shoots. It’s only a little thicker than an iPhone. It feels solid. The camera is nice and small, so it’s easy to take anywhere. The buttons seem super small, too. The power and best shot buttons on the top are in-set too much and hard to press. While using the directional pad, you might accidentally hit the center button. On the plus side, there are shortcuts like the playback button turning on the camera and a one-touch movie record button. Its water-proof and drop-proof, but it’s also got dynamic photo mode that lets you put your subject in front of any background. In our extensive testing, it withstood anything we could throw at it. We took it snowboarding (and fell on it), took it to the beach (and lost it in the ocean), and generally beat the hell out of it. Dynamic photo allows you to take a picture of a subject, then cut it out and place it on any background, all on the camera; it doesn’t always work perfectly, but it’s fun. The pictures look surprisingly good. Normal light photos have vibrant colors and look exactly like you want them to, but as you get closer to them, they might be a little pixelated. Low light pictures are only okay; it gets the job done, but it’s more pixelated. Overall, you’ll be taking more pictures outside than inside.
