The Dream: Domestic Violence Case Dismissed The Dream danced his way out of an NYC court late last week as the nearly year-long domestic violence case against him was dismissed altogether. The songwriter always maintained that he never laid his hands his former girlfriend, a non-US citizen, and insisted that she was just trumping up charges to gain sympathy to remain in the United States. Via NY Daily News : The-Dream, the 37-year-old music industry bigwig whose real name is Terius Nash, was charged with choking and roughing up his then-pregnant girlfriend Lydia Nam in April 2012. Nam told authorities that Nash threatened to kill her “like O.J. Simpson killed Nicole Brown” during the altercation. But Nash was cleared of charges, including felony assault and strangulation, at a brief appearance in Manhattan Criminal Court. “After a thorough investigation, we have determined that we cannot prove this case beyond a reasonable doubt,” prosecutor Jacqueline Cornell said. She did not elaborate on the Manhattan District Attorney’s decision. Nash, said he felt “joy” over the result and did a short dance by the elevators while sharing a light moment with his new bride, Lalonne Martinez. “God has a way,” he said. “I’m relieved, that’s all.” We bet he’s relieved! Had there been evidence to rule him guilty, he could have faced 7 years in prison.
