Walker/ Getty Images While the Tony Awards are intended to celebrate the biggest stars of the Broadway stage, several of this year’s trophies wound up in the hands of movie stars. Hosted by “Promises, Promises” star Sean Hayes and held at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, the Tonys honored the new production “Red” (starring Alfred Moline) with Best Play, and “Memphis” beat out “American Idiot” and “Fela!” for Best Musical . Bill T. Jones did win Best Choreography for “Fela!” (which counts Jay-Z and Will Smith among its producers ). “American Idiot,” meanwhile, won awards for its scenic design and lighting design.
