Billy Crystal Pays Hilarious, Moving Tribute to Robin Williams at the Emmys

Robin Williams. What a concept. This is how Billy Crystal concluded a funny, moving tribute to his very good friend Robin Williams, who took his own life two weeks ago yesterday. The comedian and actor took to the stage toward the end of last night’s Emmy Awards and shared personal stories about Williams, from the time he pretended to be a Russian baseball fan to the way Williams would interact with Crystal’s Jewish relatives. “As genius as he was on stage, he was the greatest friend you could ever imagine – supportive, protective, loving,” Crystal said. “It’s very hard to talk about him in the past because he is so present in our lives. He was the brightest star in our comic galaxy.” Billy Crystal Honors Robin Williams Crystal and Williams (along with Whoopi Goldberg) were longtime co-hosts on HBO’s Comic Relief specials, which benefitted the homeless. They also starred together in the 1997 film Fathers’ Day. Williams was found dead in his home August 11 at the age of 63. His ashes were scattered in the San Francisco Bay  at a private funeral with his closest family and friends last week. Robin Williams: His Most Memorable Roles 1. Bryan Cranston Makes Out with Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Ultimate Emmys Moment

Bryan Cranston and Julia Louis-Dreyfus were winners in more ways than one at the 2014 Emmy Awards . Both stars took home actual Emmys Awards, with Cranston winning his fourth for Breaking Bad and Louis-Dreyfus her third for Veep (she has incredibly won Leading Actress in a Comedy for three different shows). But they also won the funny bones of viewers everywhere after they presented on stage together and Louis-Dreyfus joked that Cranston looks a lot like the actor who played a dentist in Seinfeld years ago. That was me , Cranston insisted. We had a kissing scene together! Cut to a few minutes later. The actress wins her award. Cranston cuts her off and plants a HUGE kiss on her lips. Louis-Dreyfus then gets to the podium, looks a bit wobbly and concludes: Oh, yeah. He was on Seinfeld. ‘Black Swan,’ ‘The King’s Speech’ Lead BAFTA Nominees

Leading the pack of nominated films are the historical biopic “The King’s Speech” and Darren Aronofsky’s ballerina thriller, “Black Swan.” “The King’s Speech” tops the list with 14 nods, including one for its lead actor, Colin Firth, who picked up a Golden Globe for the role of King George VI. The film is also up against “Inception,” “The Social Network,” “True Grit” and “Black Swan,” which is the second-most nominated film at the BAFTAs. “The Social Network” took home Best Motion Picture – Drama at the Golden Globes. Firth is up against James Franco (“127 Hours”), Javier Bardem (“Biutiful”), Jeff Bridges (“True Grit”) and Jesse Eisenberg (“The Social Network”) in the Leading Actor category. Portman is up for her work in “Black Swan” in the Leading Actress category, in which she faces off against Annette Bening (“The Kids Are All Right”), Julianne Moore (“The Kids Are All Right”), Noomi Rapace (“The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”) and Hailee Steinfeld (“True Grit”). Nominated for Best Director are Danny Boyle (“127 Hours”), Darren Aronofsky (“Black Swan”), Christopher Nolan (“Inception”), Tom Hooper (“The King’s Speech”) and David Fincher (“The Social Network”). Every year, the BAFTA hands out their Orange Wednesdays Rising Star Award to an up-and-comer voted on by the public. Walker/ Getty Images While the Tony Awards are intended to celebrate the biggest stars of the Broadway stage, several of this year’s trophies wound up in the hands of movie stars. Hosted by “Promises, Promises” star Sean Hayes and held at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, the Tonys honored the new production “Red” (starring Alfred Moline) with Best Play, and “Memphis” beat out “American Idiot” and “Fela!” for Best Musical . Bill T. Jones did win Best Choreography for “Fela!” (which counts Jay-Z and Will Smith among its producers ). “American Idiot,” meanwhile, won awards for its scenic design and lighting design. But Hollywood was a dominant presence all night. Denzel Washington won Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Play for his work in
