Come next year, Saturday Night Live will be without its Weekend Update anchor… and, now it’s been confirmed, it’s most entertaining Weekend Update guest. With Seth Meyers soon leaving to host Late Night , Bill Hader confirms he is also departing the iconic sketch comedy series. “It was a hard decision, but it has to happen at some point,” Hader tells The New York Times . “It got to a point where I said, ‘Maybe it’s just time to go.’” Arguably the show’s anchor over the past season, Hader is best known for portraying Stefon… and James Carville… and Vincent Price… and pretty much every game show host. He was promoted to full-time cast member in 2006 and was nominated for an Emmy last year. Hader has also had supporting roles in such films as Superbad and Men in Black 3 . The Ben Affleck-hosted season finale airs on Saturday, while it’s still possible SNL loses Fred Armisen and Jason Sudeikis before the fall.
