Saturday night honored the best in non-prime time TV as the Daytime Emmy Awards were handed out at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif. “Daytime” is classified as 2 a.m. until 6 p.m., so there was a lot of ground to cover for Anderson Cooper and Oscar the Grouch, who served as co-hosts. Despite two soap operas biting the dust this year ( All My Children and One Life to Live ), the annual award gala was a positive one across the board. Notably, despite a ratings dip and rumors of Ann Curry’s firing , NBC’s Today Show nabbed the award for Outstanding Morning Show program just the same. It’s the third for Today , breaking a tie with Good Morning America. Game on. Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa won for best talk show hosts, Jeopardy won best game show for the 29th time (yes, 29th) and so much more.
