Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music Crew To Perform At BET Awards

Usher, Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown are also scheduled to perform at show, which airs July 1. By Rob Markman Kanye West Photo: Good things come to those who wait. When it was announced that both Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj would perform at the 2012 BET Awards on July 1, it was hard to imagine that BET executive Stephen Hill and his gang could pull even more star power for the Samuel L. Jackson-hosted show. But they continue to pile on: They already added Usher to the roster, and on Tuesday (June 19), Vibe.com announced that G.O.O.D. Music will make their first live television performance as a collective during the big show. Kanye West ‘s name wasn’t dropped in the report, but it is hard to imagine that Yeezy would miss out on some major camera time. ‘Ye actually leads all nominees with seven nods, including two in the Video of the Year category; he also has an upcoming label compilation, Cruel Summer, to promote. “It’s perfect. My grandma gonna be watchin’, my mom, my family, the whole city,” Big Sean told MTV News of his excitement for the show, for which he earned a few solo nominations. “It’s just tight that I can represent those people, everybody who had that dream, everybody who used to ride to school [listening to] their idols — now I’m with them. It’s just tight that I can show people that it’s possible.” It’s a safe bet that Sean, along with Kanye, Pusha T and G.O.O.D. affiliate 2 Chainz will all perform Cruel Summer ‘s lead single, “Mercy.” But if anyone knows how to seize the moment it is West, so don’t be surprised if he opens up the stage to more of G.O.O.D.’s talented roster, which includes Kid Cudi, Common, Q-Tip and CyHi the Prynce. “G.O.O.D. Music is the best team out there,” CyHi told MTV News earlier this month. “Lyrically, bar-for-bar, song-for-song, concept-for-concept, we are the world, we can take it to a cipher, we can take it on the record. It don’t matter ’cause we the best.” What are you expecting from G.O.O.D. Music’s 2012 BET Awards performance? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Kanye West

ChitChatter: Kimmy Cakes Says She’s “Totally Growing Up” After Divorce And Loves Dating Yeezy Cuz He Is An “Older Man”

But wait, isn’t this divorce #2? And wasn’t her first husband an “older man”? Kim Kardashian Tells Oprah She Loves That Kanye West Is Older Than Her We thought Kim said she didn’t want to talk about Kanye , but maybe she just meant she didn’t want to talk to anyone but Oprah about Kanye. Apparently that must be the case because Kim has lots to say about how Kanye makes perfect sense for her older and wiser post-Humphries perspective on life: Oprah Winfrey asks the reality starlet all the tough questions about her controversial love life in Sunday’s “Oprah’s Next Chapter” episode featuring the Kardashian family. After 72 days of marriage, Kardashian, 31, filed for divorce from Kris Humphries, 27, on October 31, 2011 after an over-the-top televised wedding. In March, Kardashian began dating rapper Kanye West, 35, and she tells Winfrey their age difference is a very good thing. “Before, all my boyfriends were younger. I always dated 5 years younger,” she explains in a preview of Winfrey’s interview via RyanSeacrest.com. “Now I just love that I’m with someone that’s a couple years older than me.” Why does she prefer an older man now? Kardashian says she’s “totally growing up” after her divorce and surrounds herself with friends who are older and wiser. “I feel like I’ve had an epiphany over the past year from what I’ve been through and I am that changed person just from my own experiences.” Don’t you just love when Kimmy Cakes has epiphanies? They’re like, sooooooo profound. Riiiiiiiight? Source FameFlynetPictures

‘Dark Knight Rises’: Who Could Helm A Fourth Film?

With Christopher Nolan ruling out making another ‘Dark Knight’ film, MTV News lists possible directors to take the reins. By Kevin P. Sullivan Christian Bale in “The Dark Knight Rises” Photo: Warner Bros. There have been conflicting reports about the future of the current Batman series. This past weekend, director Christopher Nolan told the Produced by Conference that he definitively does not plan on making a fourth Batman movie . This news comes just a week after Christian Bale said that he would be open to a fourth movie if the conditions were right. Could there be a “Dark Knight” movie without the series’ original mastermind? Even if Bale stayed on, losing Nolan would leave an impossible gap in the film, one we don’t necessarily think should be filled. But if there had to be a replacement, who could possibly take the reins from Nolan? Here are our picks for directors to take over the “Dark Knight” series. Duncan Jones With two ambitious sci-fi films under his belt, Duncan Jones has quickly established himself as a genre director worth paying attention to. His first film, “Moon,” is one of the best films in the genre from the last few years, and “Source Code” showed that he can handle a bigger budget and high concept in a smart and entertaining way. Jones recently signed on to direct a biopic based on the life of James Bond author Ian Flemming, so he’ll be busy for a while, but his sensibilities combine the right elements so that a superhero film would seem natural to him. Joe Carnahan Carnahan has been directing for a while now, but it wasn’t until this year’s “The Grey” that he showed he could handle more serious material with style. Starring Ra’s Al Ghul himself, Liam Neeson, “The Grey” took a rather absurd concept and grounded it in human drama. What really makes Batman resonate is the man beneath the mask, and, like Ottway in “The Grey,” Bruce Wayne keeps much of his pain to himself and speaks through his acts of justice. Darren Aronofsky The man is just itching to make a superhero movie. His take on the Dark Knight petered out, allowing Nolan to take over and make what eventually became “Batman Begins.” Aronofsky then signed on to direct Hugh Jackman in the follow-up to “X-Men Legends: Wolverine,” but he dropped out, claiming he couldn’t be away from his family while shooting in Japan. One of the most stylistically exciting directors working today, he seems dead-set on eventually directing a superhero flick. Just let him already! Rian Johnson Johnson is set to make waves with his next film, “Looper,” which opens in theaters in September. That film’s mashup of crime film and time travel movie, considered next to Johnson’s first movie, “Brick,” prove that Rian is a director that takes genre seriously and would be able to handle the multiple dimensions of directing a film like Batman. We previously suggested that he could reboot the series with “Batman Beyond.” Wally Pfister Perhaps the man best suited to take over for Nolan is his long-time collaborator and director of photography Wally Pfister. The Academy Award-winning cinematographer got his big break shooting “Memento” for Nolan all those years ago, and he’s now set to shift his focus to primarily directing films. Pfister is the least experienced of the directors on this list, but he also has the most intimate knowledge about what worked so well throughout the current series. Who do you think should direct a fourth “Batman” flick? Leave your pick below! Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music: The ‘Best Team Out There’?

MTV News gathers Yeezy’s team to find out what makes them ‘the greatest minds in the world.’ By Rob Markman, with additional reporting by MTV News staff Big Sean, Kanye West and Pusha T in the video for “Mercy” Photo: Roc-A-Fella Records It’s been years in the making, but Kanye West has assembled himself quite the team. No question G.O.O.D. Music’s roster is composed of some very talented individuals; they’re real confident, too. “G.O.O.D. Music is the best team out there,” CyHi the Prynce told MTV News. “Lyrically, bar-for-bar, song-for-song, concept-for-concept, we are the world, we can take it to a cipher, we can take it on the record, it don’t matter ’cause we the best.” Kanye West, Big Sean , Pusha T , CyHi the Prynce, Common, Kid Cudi, Teyana Taylor, Mr Hudson and Q-Tip are all expected to appear on G.O.O.D.’s upcoming Cruel Summer album, while producers like Hit-Boy, Lifted and Mannie Fresh are slated to contribute beats. “It’s an amazing project; this isn’t something we just threw together. It ain’t nothing where a whole bunch of beats were emailed over and different things of that nature,” Cyhi said. “These are ideas that we actually creatively came up with and we’re exercising them right now.” “We’ve been working on numerous verses, everybody,” Pusha said. “Now it’s time for ‘Ye to just maestro it all together.” Yeezy set things up last October when he tweeted , “GOODMUSIC.THE ALBUM.SPRING 2012.” With spring nearing a close, the Cruel Summer LP won’t make West’s initial target release, but judging by the album title we can’t be too far off either. The album’s first single, “Mercy,” features Yeezy, Sean, Pusha and 2 Chainz, who is closely affiliated with G.O.O.D. but hasn’t confirmed a signing despite numerous rumors. For Big Sean, just being around such top-tier rap talent gives him a confidence boost. “Being next to Pusha T, being next to Cudi, being next to Kanye, being next to the greatest minds in the world… you just gotta remember if you’re next to those people, if you’re there, you’re there for a reason,” he said. Before hooking up with Yeezy, Pusha T had accomplished quite a bit. As one-half of the Clipse, he hung a platinum plaque thanks to the group’s 2002 debut Lord Willin’ and with their follow-up LP Hell Hath No Fury, the Clipse delivered what many regarded as a hip-hop classic. Though the early part of Push’s career was guided by Pharrell Williams and the Neptunes, working with Kanye has helped to further his artistic growth. “I learned so much from ‘Ye about finding the most colorful parts of your rhymes and editing it down and making sure that all the pop parts of the rhyme are right in your face,” he said. There is currently no release date for Cruel Summer, and outside of the “Mercy” there is no telling what Kanye and company have planned, but longtime fans can expect quality. “G.O.O.D. Music is a movement and it’s a movement of music and culture.” Common said “And we like fly stuff.” Do you think G.O.O.D. Music is rap’s best team currently? Sound-off in the comments! Big Sean In A ‘Whole Different Thought Mentality’ On Sophomore Album

‘I have a better sense of who I am, what I represent, who I represent,’ MC tells MTV News. By Rob Markman Big Sean Photo: MTV News Big Sean ‘s debut LP Finally Famous was pretty darn good, but for his upcoming sophomore album, the Detroit MC is aiming to be even better. “I feel like when I dropped my first album, I was still coming into myself as an artist,” Sean told MTV News in May. “I have a better sense of who I am, what I represent, who I represent.” Sean hasn’t announced the title of his next LP, but he did confirm with MTV News that it will come later this year, after G.O.O.D. Music’s Cruel Summer compilation is released. He says that now he has a different mentality than he did on FF, which yielded hit singles like the Chris Brown-assisted “My Last” and “Dance (A$$),” a few all-star collaborators won’t hurt either. “I’ve been in the studio with ‘Ye, talking with ‘Ye, building ideas with No I.D., even with Nas, with other people and really talking to ’em and soaking up where their minds is at,” Sean said, “Then taking that and applying it to what I know myself. It ain’t no choice but to be good.” It was during his tour last year that Sean began to develop more as an MC. “I also have a sense of how people look at me, just by going on tour, my first solo tour, sold-out tour and seeing the people and kids who looked at me as a role model,” he said. “That’s when I realized when you got the mic, you got the crowd, you gotta say something, or else your moment in time is wasted. It’s just a whole different thought mentality.” What was your favorite song off of Big Sean’s Finally Famous ? Let us know in the comments!
