John Legend, Common, Rosario Dawson, Danny Glover & Other Celebs Attend The Many Rivers Festival Over the weekend a bevy of celebs flooded Chattahoochee Hills, GA for the first annual Many Rivers To Cross festival. The two-day brain child of Harry Belafonte and his Sankofa.org, was a social justice infused Woodstock featuring green space, high temps and celebrities speaking on issues ranging from police brutality to domestic violence. Behind the scenes Belafonte was joined by Jesse Williams who spoke with journalists… as well as Michael B. Jordan. On the main stage Ty Dolla $ign showed off his artistry with his guitar… before Danny Glover, Michael K. Williams, Wanda Sykes and Hill Harper introduced a social injustice set. Other attendees included Rosario Dawson.. and songstress Alice Smith. Common and John Legend also performed their hit “Glory”… before John did a solo performance of Bruce Springsteen’s“American Skin” in remembrance of Trayvon Martin. Organizer Harry Belafonte also hit the stage himself to sing for the first time in over a decade. Common is expanding his film resumé with the upcoming independent film L.U.V. Common will not only star in the film, but he will produce it as well. Common will portray Vincent, a troubled ex-con who strikes up a friendship with his shy, 13-year-old nephew, who is in search of his family. “Vincent is a uniquely conflicted character,” Common said of his character in the film. “I found an appeal in his desire to move past his failures and onto the right track, and the challenges that presents.” Danny Glover, Charles S. Dutton, Michael K. Williams, and Meagan Good are some of the other actors attached to the project. First time director, Sheldon Candis, will direct the film.
