Demi Lovato is reaydy to move on from the most challenging year of her life. This may be saying a lot for someone who battled substance abuse and an eating disorder for most of her time as a teenager… … but the singer nearly died of an overdose in July 2018. So, really, we don’t feel like it’s that bold of a claim overall. Just a few hours before the clock struck midnight and the calendar flipped to 2019, Lovato shared a heartfelt message on social media. It didn’t message the aforementioned overdose specifically, but it was clear what was on Demi’s mind when she wrote the following words: So grateful for the lessons I’ve learned this year. I will never take another day in life for granted, even the bad ones. Thankful for my fans, friends, family and everyone who supported me throughout this year. God bless. Lovato admitted to fans via a verse in a new song this past March that she had fallen off the wagon. She asked for their forgiveness and she seemed legitimately torn up by what had transpired. But just a few months later, what many followers and loved ones had feared for awhile finally came to tragic fruition: The artist was found unconscious by an employee in her bed. This employee called 911 and paramedics had to administer a special dose of medication to Lovato in order to revive her. She was minutes away from dying. Whiile reports have not been finalized or confirmed, it is strongly believed at this point that Lovato had completed a night out with friends and returned to her Hollywood Hills home very early in the morning. She then called her drug dealer. He arrived at her residence and provided her with OxyContin, allegedly laced with fentanyl, which the superstar reportedly free-based. She may have been unaware at the time that the dose was tainted. Still, the result is all that matters, as Lovato was rushed to the hospital and eventually enrolled in a new rehab program after several weeks under doctors’ supervision. The singer has been free from this facility for a couple months now and recently took to Twitter in order to shoot down reports of a relapse . “I love my fans and hate tabloids,” she wrote last week, emphasizing this message to those who care about her: “Don’t believe what you read. People will literally make up stuff to sell a story. Sickening.” Concluded Lovato: “If I feel like the world needs to know something, I will tell them MYSELF.” Very well said, Demi. Demi completed treatment in November, and initial reports indicated that the singer was thoroughly committed to the hard work of recovery. In recent weeks, however, some unsettling developments have occurred. For one thing, Demi started dating Henry Levy , a clothing designer and fellow addict whom she reportedly met in rehab. In the early stages of recovery, addicts are discouraged from beginning any new romantic relationships. Romances with other recovering addicts are particularly frowned upon. So it’s not hard to see why Demi’s romance with Henry might be a cause of concern for her family. And according to a new report from Radar Online, the Lovato family’s worst fears are now being confirmed as Demi is putting her recovery on the back burner in order to focus on her romance with Levy. “Demi’s mother Dianna is scared, and believes Henry is no good for her right now,” a source tells the site. “Since she started seeing Henry, she has not been keeping up with her recovery commitments and seems to be falling back into her dangerous old L.A. lifestyle.” Insiders say Demi’s mother is particularly concerned by reports that Demi has been missing meetings with her recovery groups and counselors. “No one in the family trusts her with Henry at all,” the source claims. Like Demi, Henry began struggling with addiction in his teens and has since been to rehab several times. While those close to the designer say he’s committed to sobriety, Demi’s inner-circle fears that Levy may prove to be a bad influence at a very vulnerable time in her life. Obviously, she looks happy and healthy, and of course, she’s been receiving a ton of support from fans. But surprisingly, Demi’s sister, Dallas Lovato, is claiming that the photo prompted a negative response to the tabloid media. She made the allegation in a video that was posted to Instagram last night: “Ya know what? Here’s another thing I’m just saying to all the f–king tabloids out there right now calling my sister fat, go f–k yourself because she’s the most beautiful, strong, amazing person that I’ve ever met in my entire life,” Dallas told the camera. “And everyone why are you making my sister’s body the topic of your conversation, go f–k yourself,” she continued. “I’m sorry my sister is beautiful, she’s alive and she’s conquering a lot of really hard s–t… I’m just saying.” It’s great that Dallas is so protective of her sister and everything, but we have to ask — are tabloids really saying that Demi is fat? Now, if Dallas were bashing random internet trolls, that we could understand. People can be brutal in comment boards, particularly when they’re protected by anonymity. We searched for any indication of a tabloid or gossip site bashing Demi’s appearance, and all we could find were articles about Dallas’ “clap-back.” We also scrolled through the comments on Demi’s latest photos and we saw nothing but positivity. Again, it’s totally possible that Dallas saw something online that angered her and simply couldn’t hold back. But by responding, she’s made a mountain out of a molehill and drawn the attention of the whole world (including Demi) to a negative comment that may or may not even exist. There’s a time not to feed the trolls, and this, without question, is that time. There are many theories regarding the optimal method of recovering from addiction, but all seem to concur that undue stress is something that addicts should avoid.
