2010 NBA FINALS Game 5: Boston Celtics VS Los Angeles Lakers (Kobe VS Pierce)

June 13th, 2010: The last home game for the Boston Celtics as they head to to LA for a game 6 and perhaps a game 7. Kobe was just ridiculous in the 3rd quarter…scoring 19 points. But the Celtics would respond back every time he would make a shot. Pierce led the Celtics with 27 points and Bryant with 38. It was a close 4th quarter but Celtics were able to pull away with a 92-86 win. The Celtics are up 3-2. Next game at Staples… Box Score sports.yahoo.com

2010 NBA Finals – Lakers vs Boston Celtics Highlights Game 3 [Fisher Clutch Shots, Kobe 29 Points]

All content is the property of the NBA and its respective entities. Fisher’s offensive heroics the difference for Lakers. If it wasn’t already apparent, this is not the same series as the 2008 Finals. Mostly because of the Los Angeles Lakers. In their 91-84 Game 3 victory, the Lakers, both as individuals and collectively, fought through a litany of situations that would have left them reeling and beaten. And they were tested from the very beginning. Behind what was probably the best crowd at TD Garden in a non-series clinching win, the Celtics stormed out to a 12-5 lead. First there were six-straight points from Kevin Garnett (25 points), including two alley oops, and then six more from Rajon Rondo. “We seemed to gather some strength and change the course of the game right there,” Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. By halftime, the lead was 12 and the Celtics, who have not performed well playing from behind in second halves, were left to do just that. “We kept our poise after that quick start and didn’t get rattled,” Kobe Bryant (29 points on 29 shots) said. “We didn’t doubt our ability to win here, even though we hadn’t done it in the playoffs,” Derek Fisher said. “We understand that in order to be the best, you have to win wherever, whenever.” “It’s very frustrating, very frustrating when you don’t play well offensively,” Garnett said. “But defensively, you know, you sort of buckle down and get the stops and things that you want and you get back into the game only to come …

2010 NBA Finals – Los Angeles Lakers Highlights vs Boston Celtics Game 6 [Force 7, Kobe 26 Points]

All content is the property of the NBA and its respective entities. Lakers clobber Celtics, setting up decisive Game 7 Rajon Rondo was cut on the chin compliments of a Ron Artest elbow. Kendrick Perkins had to be helped off the court thanks to a Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant sandwich. Paul Pierce wound up on his back time and time again in large part because of the Lakers’ swarming defense. It was that type of game for the Celtics. In what was a must-win to keep their hopes of a repeat alive, the Lakers answered emphatically, blowing out the Celtics, 89-67, in Game 6 of the NBA Finals Tuesday at Staples Center. Tied 3-3, the season now culminates in a winner-take-all Game 7 Thursday. “It’s a really high-tension situation,” said Lakers coach Phil Jackson, who will be coaching in his first Game 7 in the NBA Finals. No sweat for Bryant, who holds a 3-1 record in Game 7’s: “I know what’s at stake, but I’m not tripping.” Added Paul Pierce on how he feels heading into the game: “Very confident. “We know we have to come out a lot harder in Game 7. I promise you when I stand here on Thursday, we won’t be talking about energy.” If history has any say in the outcome, the Celtics have the edge. They are 4-0 all-time in Game 7’s against the Lakers, who hope to become just the seventh team in NBA history to come from behind to win a championship after facing a 3-2 deficit. While the Lakers were given new life, the Celtics see Tuesday’s game as yet another missed opportunity. “You could …

Paul Pierce scored 15 points, Rajon Rondo added 10, and the Boston Celtics took a 45-39 lead over the Los Angeles Lakers into halftime of Game 5 of the NBA finals on Sunday night. Kevin Garnett made all three shots and had eight points and seven rebounds as Boston had two of its Big Three playing well at the same time for one of the few occasions in the series. Pierce made 7-of-10 shots. The Celtics were trying to take a 3-2 lead and move a win away from increasing their NBA-best total to 18 championships. They shot 66 percent and led at halftime for the first time since Game 2. Kobe Bryant scored 10 points on just 4-of-12 shooting for the Lakers, who shot just 33 percent. Andrew Bynum played 18 minutes and had six points, three nights after his sore right knee forced him to leave Game 4 after only 12 minutes. He and Derek Fisher (nine points) helped Los Angeles end a slow start. A message on the overhead video board before the Celtics’ starting lineups were introduced read: “The final stand at the Garden.” They made it a good one in the first half. The Lakers missed their first six shots as Boston jumped ahead 6-0, but Bynum and Fisher combined for the first 15 Los Angeles points for a 15-14 lead when Fisher hit three free throws with 4:58 remaining in the first quarter. Pierce hit jumpers for the Celtics’ final two baskets of the period, sending them to the second with a 22-20 lead. Bryant was only 1 for 4, shooting an airball and missing badly on another jumper. Lakers vs. Celtics – Lose 1, steal 1

Series is now at 2-1 in favor of the Lakers. Lakers lost at home in game 2, but they bounced back and took 1 road game against the Celtics in Game 3, 91-84. This is not like what we have seen in the NBA Finals 2008. And this series is expected to be longer and tougher down to the end. Boston started the early run in the first minutes of the game. Lakers regained their composure and took the lead at 13-12 in the 5:13 mark in the first period. They traded lead 3 times until they tied at 16-16 in the 4:19 mark in the first quarter. Lakers took 5-0 run. Lakers lead at the end of first quarter 21-16. In spite of Kevin Garnett’s ten points and Rajon Rondo’s six in the first quarter, Boston is down 26-17 at the end of the first period of play. Rajon Rondo and Paul Pierce got their early two personal fouls, causing Pierce to sit early to stay away from foul trouble. Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett carried their respective teams in the second quarter. Kobe finished the first half with 16 points, grabbed 6 boards. Meanwhile, Kevin Garnett scored 14 ponts and grabbed 5 rebounds. Paul Pierce struggling in the first half, shooting 0 out of 6. He finished the half with 5 points, 1 out of 2 from the three point and hit 2 out of 2 from the free throw line. Lakers moved the ball well. It was a team effort. Kobe did well and so as to Garnett, but the only difference, Lakers’ role players did well of backing up their star player. Boston lacked support on Garnett’s impressive performance. At the half, Lakers led 52-40. In the third, Kobe Bryant missed shots but has made important baskets to keep their lead to 6 points after the quarter. He defended well not only doing his offensive tasks. He ended third quarter with 25 points. Boston reduced the lead to six points after three quarters of play. The score at the end of third quarter was 67-61, in favor of Los Angeles Lakers. Paul Pierce sat after 21 seconds of play in the fourth quarter giving up his fifth personal foul. Even though Pierce is not on the floor, Boston managed to come back and reduced the deficit to only one, 67-68 in the 9:46 mark. Derek Fisher who only scored five points in the first three quarters made his presence felt as the veteran made his shots when the Lakers needed him. Fisher’s defense was terrific, but his offense saved the day, as he scored 11 of his 16 in the final quarter. “Derek Fisher was the difference in the game,” Celtics coach Doc Rivers said. “He’s just a gutty, gritty player. Fisher basically took the game over.” “We didn’t doubt our ability to win here, even though we hadn’t done it in the playoffs,” Derek Fisher said. “We understand that in order to be the best, you have to win wherever, whenever.” More Info..
