ndtogo Today is Dyngus Day.  It is also known as Wet Monday and Easter Monday. Dyngus Day is celebrated as a holiday in Christian, Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox cultures.  This is the day after Easter Sunday. Dyngus Day is traditionally celebrated in Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.  Early morning, boys awake girls by pouring  bucket of water on the girls head and striking them on legs using thin twigs that are made either of willow or birch.  This is to mark the end of the Lenten Season. Dyngus early custom was about exchanging gifts usually with decorated eggs. If one peron did not bring any eggs ready, one has to endure water splashing.
