Baphomet Statue Unveiled In Detroit This can’t be a good sign. A monument to Baphomet was unveiled this weekend in Detroit. Via Detroit Free Press reports: About 100 people crowded together on a strip of sidewalk in Eastern Market Saturday to pray and protest the Satanic Temple’s plans to unveil a Baphomet monument in Detroit later that night. The group gathered across the street from Bert’s Marketplace, where the Satanic Temple had originally planned to unveil the bronze, goat-headed idol. But Bert Dearing said he gave the group back its $3,000 rental fee when he learned who booked the place. A news release billed the unveiling as the largest Satanic ceremony in history. The event was ticket-only, and the location was to be given via email to ticket holders on Saturday. “This unveiling will not happen in the City of Detroit on my watch,” said Bishop Corletta Vaughn of the Holy Ghost Cathedral in Detroit. “I’m here to stand against this being in the City of Detroit. We will not turn over our city to Satanists. It’s a violent spirit that’s moving to the city and infiltrating that place. We will drive them out of Dodge.” The bronze statue weighs one ton and stands nearly 9 feet tall. It has horns, hooves, wings and a beard. It had been planned for the state Capitol in Oklahoma City, until Oklahoma’s Supreme Court banned religious displays on Capitol grounds. This is all bad. We pray that this is an isolated incidence and this isn’t an indication that more people are becoming followers of the dark side. APImages

Oh gawd! Big Sean Brings School Supplies To Detroit Via HuffPo reports: It wasn’t surprising that Kanye West protégé and rising star Big Sean inspired this much excitement in Detroit, his hometown. But the location was a bit out of the ordinary — as he made press rounds for his new album, “Hall of Fame,” he spent a good chunk of Thursday afternoon handing out backpacks to kids in a building normally used as a farmers market. A couple thousand students crowded Detroit Public Schools’ back-to-school fair in Eastern Market, where they could learn about careers, play educational games, do science experiments and receive supplies. Organized by the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, new MBA students had just three days after arriving for their first semester to plan the event. “DPS needs this more than anybody,” said Big Sean (real name: Sean Anderson), who recently launched the Sean Anderson Foundation to help young people in Detroit. “Hopefully this is just the first of many events we can do to … help give back.” “I wanted to make sure that when I looked back at my life I did something that I was proud of, that I left a legacy,” he added. “Of course I make a lot of fun music, all sorts of songs, but I’m definitely going to make songs to inspire, to do my part for the community, especially for the kids in Detroit.”
