Amani Toomer Blasts Ray Lewis: What a Hypocrite!

It’s safe to say Super Bowl week has not been without it fair share of off-the-field drama. Chris Culliver outed himself as a bigot. Dan Marino admitted to having an affair in 2005 and father a child with Donna Savattere . And now former Giants wideout Amani Toomer has blasted Ray Lewis for the retiring linebacker’s self-serving attitude and antics. “It’s definitely all about him,” Toomer said in an interview with USA Today , focusing on Lewis’ retirement tour. “Once a guy goes to the center of the field, goes into the victory formation on the last play of his last home game… I just don’t think the Giants or any organization I’ve ever been a part of, even growing up, would allow somebody to single themselves out like that.” Toomer than compared Lewis to The Rock, labeled him a “caricature” of himself and added: “If you want to say you’re Mr. Religious and all of that, have a clean record. Don’t say all of that stuff if you know there’s stuff that might come back. Those are the things that, when I look at him, I just think hypocrisy.” Among other items on Lewis’ controversial resume, Toomer is referring to the linebacker’s 2000 arrest for murder, as well as his six children by four different women. What do you think of Amani’s comments? Fair or foul?

For Discussion: Hampton University President Bans Cornrows & Dreads Because “Martin Luther King Didn’t Wear It”… Do You Agree?

Hampton University’s business school dean is standing by a controversial ban on dreadlocks and cornrows for some students . Male students enrolled in the school’s 5-year MBA program who take the seminar class cannot wear dreadlocks or cornrows in class. The ban, which began in 2001, has been controversial over the years. “I don’t think it shouldn’t matter what the hairstyle. It’s my life. I should be able to do whatever I want to do,” said incoming freshman Uriah Bethea, who wears dreadlocks and says he wouldn’t compromise his look for a class. Dean Credle disagrees and says when people criticize the ban for denying cultural aspects of style, he believes cornrows and dreadlocks have not been a historically professional look. “I said when was it that cornrows and dreadlocks were a part of African American history?” Credle added, “I mean Charles Drew didn’t wear, Muhammad Ali didn’t wear it. Martin Luther King didn’t wear it.” Some argue that because this is a private institution they are allowed to make up these rules and standards. Don’t like it? Leave and apply to another one. However, many people can land white-collar jobs without conforming to the “European” corporate standards that Hampton has apparently adhered to. Do you think this hair rule is fair or foul? Discuss… Source Continue reading

Game Change Trailer: Julianne Moore is Sarah Palin

Julianne Moore’s transformation into Sarah Palin in the HBO film Game Change, set to premiere in March, is striking. Guess that’s how you earn four Oscar nominations. The 51-year-old actress stars opposite Ed Harris (as John McCain) and Woody Harrelson (adviser Steve Schmidt) in the film based on the 2010 book of the same name. Game Change centers around the ’08 presidential elections, following the U.S. Senator’s run and decision to select Palin, then governor of Alaska, as his running mate: Game Change Teaser Trailer “In terms of research I did on the way campaigns are conducted, so much is about how do you get on the air, how do you get the most media attention,” Moore said. “How do you make the most noise. When in fact, what we’re all looking for is leadership, we don’t want noise. We want people who are going to take care of us.” Wow. That’s way too intelligent to come from an actual political figure. The book Game Change chronicled the actions of both parties during the 2008 race, but based on the cast , the film looks to be centered primarily on the Republican side.

Ke$ha Calls Out Britney Spears for Lip-Synching "Bull$hit"

A couple weeks ago, we were criticized for writing that Adam Lambert blasted Susan Boyle’s album and rendition of “Wild Horses.” Fans of the American Idol finalist thought that was a misrepresentation of his comments. But make no mistake now: Ke$ha has very much torn into Britney Spears. In a new interview, the outspoken singer was asked about Britney’s habit of lip-synching during concerts and replied : “I think that’s bull$hit. I don’t think that’s fair at all for people who are going to see the show. If you are going to be a singer, you should sing. If you are going to be a dancer, you should dance.” “If you are going to do a combination of the two, you should make it very clear when you are singing and very clear when you are dancing. I would never do that to my fans… It’s treating people as if they are too stupid to realize you are not actually singing… I would rather be off and be real and genuine about it to my fans.” This isn’t the first time Spears has been called out for pretending to sing live. A few months ago, fans in Australia walked out of Britney’s Circus tour due to the singer’s shoddy lip-synching and general performance. What do you think of Ke$ha’s comments? Fair or foul?
