Sin City 2 is Official, People [PICS]

Director Robert Rodriguez is notorious for publicly discussing projects that never go anywhere (Like the also recently announced Machete sequel , which is…postponed? Abandoned altogether? Who knows?). But now that he’s sent out an official press release announcing that production has begun on Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For , well, there’s no turning back now: “I have wanted to re-team with Frank Miller and return to the world he created since the day we wrapped the original, but have felt a duty to the fans to wait until we had something truly exceptional that would meet and exceed what have become epic expectations. ‘A Dame To Kill For’ will certainly be worth the wait.” No pressure or anything… Details are still scarce on Sin City 2 , but the graphic novel A Dame to Kill For , on which the movie is (presumably) being based, takes place before The Hard Goodbye , which was adapted into the first Sin City movie. Does this mean Carla Gugino will be back, hand and all? Will Jessica Alba return as a somewhat less seasoned stripper? Will Jaime King actually have more than a couple lines of dialogue this time? It’s enough to turn a gumshoe into a private dick. Who knows?

‘Sin City 2 Could Begin Shooting This Year,’ Says Robert Rodriguez

As soon as Robert Rodriguez took the stage at Comic-Con’s Hall H this afternoon, he teased a “bunch of big announcements,” the biggest of which being a sequel to his 2005 crime thriller Sin City . The director said that Frank Miller has already written the script for the sequel, which will be shot in 3-D and “could be shot as early as this year.” The second biggest announcement was that Rodriguez is planning a big screen project based on Heavy Metal magazine. The Losers Director Sylvain White on Race, Remakes and Video Games

The success of Stomp the Yard in 2007 might have heralded several things, but few would have predicted that its director, Sylvain White, would suddenly become a familiar name to the fanboy community. Then again, White is a major fanboy himself, and he’s used his heat to attach himself to a number of cult properties, including an adaptation of the Frank Miller graphic novel Ronin and a film version of the classic video game franchise Castlevania (which he’s since departed). The release today of White’s The Losers (adapted from a DC Comics comic book series) may be the first example of his fannish tendencies made manifest, but if he has his way, it’ll hardly be the last. I talked to White today about how he weathers the scrutiny of superfans, and what he’s got in mind for Ronin , his remake of the French film Le Magnifique , and several other properties.
