Lady Gaga To Debut ‘Marry The Night’ Video Thursday

Autobiographical clip, shot in various New York City locations, will premiere on E! By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga Photo: Ethan Miller/ Getty Images On Thursday, Lady Gaga will officially “Marry the Night.” The singer announced on Twitter that she’ll premiere her highly anticipated video for the song on E! Directed by Mother Monster herself, it marks the first time she’s ever directed a video completely on her own. Gaga previously directed clips in collaboration with her Haus or former creative director Laurieann Gibson . Shot at various locations in New York City in October, including the Snug Harbor Cultural Center in Staten Island , Gaga weaves an autobiographical tale in the new clip. At another NYC location, Gaga was spotted rolling around on the roof of a car . In a preview released earlier this month, a “Girl, Interrupted”-type story line was teased. In it, Gaga is rolled on a gurney through a mental ward. She goes on a long monologue about the nature of memory and art: “When I look back on my life, it’s not that I don’t want to see things exactly as they happened, it’s just that I prefer to remember them in an artistic way.” In her Thanksgiving Day TV special last week, Gaga teased another part of the “Marry the Night” video. The clip references films like “Fame,” with Gaga donning leggings and a tube top and practicing a dance routine at a studio. During a trip to India, Gaga opened up a bit about shooting the clip and being a first-time director. “It has been a wonderful experience. I worked alongside director of photography Darius Khondji, who is an absolutely amazing DP, and I worked with Gideon Ponte, who is an incredible art director,” she explained. “So I’m looking forward to sharing this autobiographical video with the world. I’m very excited. It’s my favorite song on the album.” Related Videos Track By Track: Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Lady Gaga: Inside The Outside Related Artists Lady Gaga

On Monday night, she tweeted out some teases about the New York-based clip. “Just wrapped my 5th music video, can’t wait to unfold all its secrets and share with you moments from my past I have yet to reveal,” she said on the site. “Put Born This Way back in the vessel, for rebirth, as I lay in mine. When too strong to divorce, then buckle up, MARRY THE NIGHT.” Gaga shot the video earlier this month in her hometown. She was spotted all over town filming scenes for the Born This Way single’s video , including at the Snug Harbor Cultural Center in Staten Island. “This is my favorite song on the album. Are you ready [producer] @FERNANDOGARIBAY?” she said. “This one is our baby.” In addition to getting philosophical about the clip, Gaga also shared the cover art for the single, the fifth off her chart-topping album. “Do you want the #MARRY THE NIGHT SINGLE COVER tonight?” the Mother Monster asked her dedicated legion of fans. “If monsters make MARRY THE NIGHT SINGLE COVER the number one trending topic I will release it tonight. Early. SORRY INTERSCOPE! I LOVE THEM!” After Twitter blocked all chances to get the trend going, Gaga defied the rules and released the art anyway. “Even better, you pissed [off] Twitter. Be prepared to Marry the Night at 8pm PST,” she said before dropping it with this message: “New York is Not Just a Tan that You’ll Never Lose.” In the picture , Gaga is dressed in leather, shaking her blond hair around. She’s posing on the wet hood of a car while a fire burns behind her. It looks to be a scene from the video. No word yet on when the clip will premiere. Lady Gaga Shoots ‘Marry The Night’ Video In New York

Cultural center CEO tell MTV News that Gaga was ‘friendly and kind’ during Staten Island video shoot. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga (file) Photo: Michael Buckner/ Getty Images After multiple reports of Lady Gaga’s Staten Island video shoot for “Marry the Night” hit the Net, MTV News has confirmed that the singer indeed shot her fifth Born This Way clip in her native New York. MTV News caught up with the CEO of the Snug Harbor Cultural Center, where the video was shot on Monday, to get some details about the “Marry the Night” visuals. “We found both her and her crew to be easy to work with and low-key,” Lynn Kelly told us. “I think we would have expected a lot of drama, and the truth is, she is probably the most down-to-earth person. It was endearing. She was friendly and kind.” Lady Gaga “started to cry” the first time she heard the track for “Marry the Night.” New York’s Daily News reports that Gaga was spotted hiding behind a sheet in order to keep her video look concealed from the many onlookers who stopped to catch a glimpse of the star. According to tweets from passersby, dancers and extras were spotted dressed in multiple looks: some as ballerinas and others wearing leopard print. Gaga’s mom was reportedly on set and spoke to some of the Little Monsters. While Gaga remained relatively hidden during the shoot, one fan tweeted that she was spotted sporting thick, black eyeliner with her hair done up. While she wouldn’t reveal any insider details about the video, Kelly did have only the highest praise for Mother Monster. “I think, for us, we’re so excited to have someone of her talent and to have somebody like that shoot here is a sheer honor,” she said. “What her music does for music is so much more than entertainment. It’s connecting to the arts on a much deeper level, and that’s what I hope we can do here.” What are you expecting from the “Marry the Night” video? Let us know in the comments!
