Source: Phillip Faraone / Getty Mindy Kaling To Star In Comedy About Diversity In Writers Rooms Amazon just closed a $13 million deal for Late Night , a comedy about diversity in a late night talk show writers room that is written, produced, and stars Mindy Kaling . This marks the first major sale out of the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. Late Night is set to co-star Emma Thompson as a comic who begrudgingly takes an Indian-American writer (played by Kaling) under her wing after she is shamed into hiring more women and minorities. In her cover story for Variety , Kaling said that she saw Late Night as a chance to retell a familiar story of someone trying to break into the entertainment business, but from a fresh perspective. “So much of this movie is about being a fan and being on the outside of the entertainment business,” she told Variety . “That story has been told many, many, many times by 52-year-old white men, and I love all those movies. And as a comedy nerd I’ve always identified with them because it was the closest thing that I could identify with. There was no one like me making those kind of films.” Late Night was originally set up at Fox 2000 with Paul Feig slated to direct the comedy, but plans changed following Kaling’s pregnancy and an illness in Thompson’s family resulted in the start date getting pushed back. Once production finally began, Kaling lined up independent financing and tapped Nisha Ganatra to direct. Late Night also co-stars John Lithgow, Amy Ryan, and Ike Barinholtz.

With 19-tracks featuring a collaboration between Meek and his former rival Drake. The song, “Going Bad,” marks the first time the two have worked together in three years. JAY-Z, Rick Ross, Future, Young Thug, 21 Savage and Kodak Black are among the other guests on Meek’s latest album. Production is handled by Tay Keith, Bangladesh, Papamitrou and more. Amy Schumer has made a living joking about sex. She even got VERY candid about giving her then-boyfriend a blow job last March. But the comedian is very much aware that sexual assault is no laughing matter, and she’s here to tell her full story about an unfortunate past experience in this realm. “I’ve been flat-out raped,” Schumer told Katie Couric this week for the reporter’s Wonder Women podcast series. Such an admission marks the first time Schumer has used this word when describing her troubled history. In her autobiography, The Girl With the Lower Back Tattoo, Schumer did write about how her first sexual encounter was NOT consensual. She also opened up about the incident to Marie Claire in 2016, telling the magazine at the time: “My first sexual experience was not a good one .” Schumer told Howard Stern something similar that same year, saying she fell asleep one night alongside her high school boyfriend and woke up with him inside of her. She did not press charges. She even stayed with the boyfriend and found herself comforting him at times over what had happened. “People, they want you to have been raped perfectly, and they want you to be a perfect victim,” Schumer told Stern, explaining how sexual assaults vary and the types of victims very. At the end of the day, however, non-consensual sex is non-consensual sex. “We’re so critical and it makes victims really not wanna speak up,” Schumer added. That was in 2016. Fast forward nearly two years and we’re in the middle of a #MeToo movement in which women are finally starting to feel empowered and in which sexual assault is at last being treated like the very serious issue that it is. Recalling this same incident with her high school boyfriend, Schumer told Couric: “I didn’t think about it until I started reading my journal again. “When it happened, I wrote about it almost like a throwaway. It was like, ‘And then I looked down and realized he was inside of me. He was saying, I’m so sorry and I can’t believe I did this.'” She continued: “This was 17 years ago. There are just so many factors. I had another time with a boyfriend where I was saying, ‘No, stop,’ and it was just completely ignored.” Schumer now realizes that none of this was okay. Moreover, Schumer says flat-out rape or assault is easy to identify. But there are plenty of other situation that also require women to speak out and men to shape up. “If you have a doctor that makes you uncomfortable, or you get a massage, or you have a date with someone and they coerce you in a situation like the Aziz [Ansari] one, I don’t think there’s any sort of criminal charge, but I think that it’s good for everybody to learn that that behavior’s not acceptable,” she says. “It’s not a crime, but it’s not cool. And it can still really mess with a woman.” In this case, Schumer is referring to Aziz Ansari being accused of sexual misconduct after going on a date with a woman who claims she repeatedly made it clear to the star that she did not want to go as far physically as he wanted to go. Feeling like it’s been a Westerosi winter since the Game of Thrones Season 6 finale ? Wondering how you’ll survive once the show wraps up after just 13 more episodes? Well, if you’re jonesing for more GoT to the point that you’re looking into direwolf adoption and considering moving to the Mexican border just to be near a giant wall, then have we got good news for you. HBO announced today that it’s exploring four different options in terms of Westeros-based spinoffs. The network hasn’t revealed how many of the four premises will be picked up, but considering the massive budget required to produce shows like GoT, execs will probably only green light one at a time. Still, Game of Thrones junkies (or Throners, as we like to call them) are holding out hope that there might be multiple spinoffs on the way. The announcement marks the first time that HBO has pursued a follow-up to one of its series. According to Entertainment Weekly, the network will evaluate four scripts by four different writers: Stories by Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island, Fox’s Minority Report); Jane Goldman (Kingsman: The Secret Service, X-Men: First Class); Brian Helgeland (A Knight’s Tale, L.A. Confidential); and Carly Wray (Mad Men) have already been commissioned. Goldman and Wray will both be working in tandem with George R.R. Martin, which will likely put them at an advantage. Network execs assure fans that no matter which direction they choose, Martin and current showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss will all be involved in some capacity. “Weiss and Benioff continue to work on finishing up the seventh season and are already in the midst of writing and preparing for the eighth and final season,” HBO said in a statement. “We have kept them up to date on our plans and they will be attached, along with George R. R. Martin, as executive producers on all projects. We will support them as they take a much-deserved break from writing about Westeros once the final season is complete.” HBO has offered few details about the nature of the projects except to say that each will “explore different time periods of George R. R. Martin’s vast and rich universe.” Hopefully, they’ll soon issue another statement to quash those rumors about a Game of Thrones-Westworld crossover . As much as we love both series, there’s pretty much no way than could not be corny. Rapper Now Owes the IRS And His Housing Association Maybe it’s time for T.I. to hire a new accountant. The rapper/reality star is in more financial trouble for not paying his bills after the IRS slapped him with two federal tax liens earlier this year for more than $4.5 million dollars in unpaid taxes. Now, the rapper is being accused of refusing to pay bills on his Georgia mansion. On December 16th, the Lost Valley Homeowners Association filed a lien against T.I. over him refusing to pay them them his homeowners fees including unpaid and delinquent assessments and other costs totaling $536.97. The lien has been placed against the rapper’s Jonesboro mansion he purchased back in 2006 for $4.2 million. The five bedroom, seven bathroom 10,460 sq. ft. pad has an elevator, greenhouse, hot tub/spa, intercom, security system and tons of other features. The new financial issue wouldn’t seem like a huge deal if the rapper hadn’t already been hit with two federal tax liens back in August, which accuse him of owing taxes for 2012 & 2013 for a total amount of debt owed coming to $4,570,759.86. The feds explained they have demanded the payment from T.I. but the balance remains due to this date – and they say they will be placing the lien against all property and assets the rapper owns. The IRS doesn’t play around with millions of dollars in unpaid taxes and could begin seizing his assets if he doesn’t pay up on the $4.5 million. Continue reading →
Donald Trump Moves Further Ahead In The Polls As GOP Presidential Favorite With each passing day, Donald Trump grows inexplicably more popular with Americans who identify as Republicans. Somehow, these…”people” are convinced that a man with bigoted values, zero experience in politics and an inability to explain how he would accomplish his goals is exactly what this country needs to be “great again”. Help us, Lord Father… Via CNN Donald Trump seems set to end 2015 as the dominant force in the race for next year’s Republican nomination for president, with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz now a clear — yet distant — second after a strong debate performance, a new CNN/ORC poll released on Wednesday has found. Trump tops the field with 39%, according to the poll of Republican and Republican-leaning registered voters. That’s more than double the share backing Cruz, who, at 18%, has inched up 2 points since the last CNN/ORC poll, which was taken in late November. Trump has been a constant atop the polls since his ascent to the lead in July, and this new poll marks the first time Cruz stands significantly apart from the other candidates vying for the nomination. Behind those two, Ben Carson and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio have each slipped a few points and now stand tied at 10%. A Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday found a tighter race between Trump and Cruz, a finding that clashes with most other recent polling on the national race. It is one of only two live interviewer national polls released since Thanksgiving that found Trump with a lead smaller than 10 points. Across the 10 polls released during that time, Trump’s lead over Cruz averages 16 points. The CNN/ORC poll was conducted after the Republican debate hosted by CNN and Facebook in Las Vegas on December 15. Among those Republicans who say they watched, 33% say Trump did the best job in the debate, 28% Cruz, 13% Rubio. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie follows with 6%. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, widely seen as needing a strong debate performance to boost his standing in the polls, was rated best by just 1% of debate watchers. Kim Kardashian is on top of her selfie game at the moment. A day after sharing a selfie with Hillary Clinton , who reportedly broke protocol in order to pose with the reality star at a fundraiser, Kardashian has brought her parents together in public for the first time in months. “The parent trap,” Kim wrote as a caption to this Instagram photo, which features herself, Kris Jenner and Caitlyn Jenner. It’s unclear where the trio is hanging out, but this marks the first time fans have seen Kris and Caitlyn in the same place since the latter came out as transgender in April. Kris and Caitlyn, of course, divorced last year after over 20 years of marriage and two kids together; not the mention all the stepchildren they helped raise as a couple. But there was criticism of Kris after Caitlyn told the world about her gender transformation because Kris was the only one of Jenner’s ex-wives NOT to appear in his ABC special with Diane Sawyer. “I just miss Bruce. And that’s going to take me a minute to mourn that relationship,” Kris said many weeks ago on E!. “You think you’re going to grow old with somebody, and they drastically change over the course of just a few years.” Kris went on to make a handful of supportive comments to the press, but there’s been recent talk that Caitlyn blames Kris for his show’s plummeting ratings . One report alleged that Caitlyn believes Kris has been conspiring with I Am Cait producers to make him look bad. Caitlyn, meanwhile, is jumping face-first into the selfie game herself.
