Feminist Campaign Wants President Obama To Put Woman On $20 Bill
How much is a stay-at-home mom’s services worth? Too much for one Texas man, who recently wrote that he would not be able to pay his wife for all of her stay-at-home duties. When Steve Nelms calculated his wife’s worth down to the dollar, he realized he “quite literally” cannot afford for his wife, Glory, to stay home with their two-year-old son, Ezra. Nelms itemized every job his wife does, including child care ($36,660), cleaning($5,200), cooking ($12,480). The total annually is $73,690. And the field of women to replace Andrew Jackson on the $20 has been narrowed down to four…Voters selected Eleanor Roosevelt, Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks and Wilma Mankiller, the first female chief of the Cherokee Nation, WomenOn20s said. [ Madamenoire ] Study Shows 70 Percent Whites Approve Of Cops Hitting People Recent findings in the 2014 General Social Survey revealed that a majority number of Whites feel that cops hitting people is allowable. The study shows that Whites approving of police using this manner of force far outpaces Blacks and Latinos. The Associated Press reported on the General Social Survey’s data over the weekend, with Alternet combing through the analysis in a detailed report. Essentially, at least 7 out of 10 whites polled believe that police using force against a male citizen during any interaction should occur if needed. High school junior Meghan Vogel was the big winner at an Ohio Division III girls state track meet on Saturday afternoon, even though she finished dead last. With 20 meters to go in the 3,200-meter race, Vogel was about to pass Arden McMath, a sophomore from a rival school, when McMath collapsed on the track. Rather than continue running, Vogel stopped, helped McMath to her feet, placed McMath’s arm around her shoulders and carried her across the finish line. “Any girl on the track would have done the same for me,” Vogel told ESPN . Runner Helps Injured Rival Across Finish Line Vogel even made sure McMath crossed the finish line first and said she was surprised by the widespread praise she received for an act of selflessness. “It’s strange to have people telling me that his was such a powerful act of kindness and using words like ‘humanity,’” she said after the fact. “When I hear words like that I think of Harriet Tubman and saving people’s lives. I don’t consider myself a hero. I just did what I was supposed to do.” Wow . If only more people approached life like Meghan. Inspiring. The cool thing: Under the rules, a runner is automatically disqualified for helping another runner during a race, but the officials allowed McMath and Vogel’s times to remain in the results, in second-to-last and last place, respectively.

This is very shocking stuff: At the heart of the controversy over “body scanners” is a promise: The images of our naked bodies will never be public. U.S. Marshals in a Florida Federal courthouse saved 35,000 images on their scanner. These are those images. A Gizmodo investigation has revealed 100 of the photographs saved by the Gen 2 millimeter wave scanner from Brijot Imaging Systems, Inc., obtained by a FOIA request after it was recently revealed that U.S. Marshals operating the machine in the Orlando, Florida courthouse had improperly-perhaps illegally-saved images of the scans of public servants and private citizens. So much for not being able to store, print, transmit or save the image. If you believe that, you’ll believe anything … idiots.
