Better Bioplastic Built From Nut Shells and Plant Stems

Image via engadget One of the major sticking points for making plastics from plants such as corn is that it takes a lot of fossil fuel and resources to grow a crop, just to turn it into plastic that is still difficult to recycle. The pros of plant-based plastics don’t really out-weigh the cons. But what if bioplastic could be made from plant waste that is on hand anyway? VW Unveils New Jetta, Hybrid Model Coming in 2012

Photo: VW New TDI Diesel Engine Also Available VW has just unveiled the new 2011 Jetta. It was completely redesigned and no longer shares a platform with the VW Golf. Like most new cars that get redesigned, the Jetta suffers from inflation: It’s now 3.54 inches/9 cm longer than the previous Jetta, and the wheelbase is 2.76 inches/7 cm longer.
