What’s a little “sweetcakes” and “a**hole” between co-workers? Apparently to the suits at ESPN its a lot… A veteran sports broadcaster was taken off air after he called a female colleague ‘sweetcakes’. Ron Franklin further insulted Jeannie Edwards when she objected to the sexist name by calling her an ‘a**hole’. The spat came during a production meeting and was not made while the pair were on air. The incident occurred in a pre-game production meeting also attended by ESPN announcers Ed Cunningham and Rod Gilmore. When the conversation turned to the subject of Gilmore’s wife Marie being elected mayor of Alameda in California, Edwards tried to join in but was cut off by Franklin, according to reports. ‘Why don’t you leave this to the boys, sweetcakes,’ Franklin is said to have told her. ‘Don’t call me sweetcakes, I don’t like being talked to like that,’ Edwards responded. Franklin replied: ‘OK then, a**hole.’ Edwards reported Franklin’s comments to ESPN management, who attempted to pull him from the Chik-fil-A Bowl broadcast, but it was too late to find a replacement. This guy clearly hasn’t learned from the gang of other douchebags, jerk-offs, and a**holes that have made sexist jokes about co-workers on or off the air. But then again homie is like 70, he probably still calls us “nigger”…SMH Source
