How random is this? DMX And Scarface Have A Pool Match At A3C Redbull’s Sound Select presented hip hop legend Scarface at The Basement in East Atlanta Village during A3C in Atlanta last night, and was treated to a quite unexpected guest. Though he wasn’t present for the performance, rapper DMX showed up at the music venue and bar after Scarface’s set…grabbed a pool cue and got to work. Hmm, we wonder who won? Hit the flip for a few more flicks of the legendary duo going head to head on the pool table. Photos: Julia Beverly

‘That’s definitely going to get done,’ Cash Money honcho Birdman confirms to XXLmag.com. By Rob Markman Drake and Lil Wayne Photo: Julia Beverly Move over Jay-Z and Kanye West , here come Lil Wayne and Drake . While Hov and Yeezy have pretty much dominated the hip-hop conversation this week with the release of their collaborative Watch the Throne, Cash Money CEO Bryan “Birdman” Williams took it up a notch when he confirmed on Friday (August 12) that Weezy and Drizzy Drake will also be joining forces on an upcoming project. “Wayne and I recently talked about [the Weezy/Drake collabo album],” Baby told XXLmag.com . “That’s definitely going to get done.” Birdman is himself no stranger to joint LPs: In 2006, the #1 Stunna shared billing with Wayne on their Like Father, Like Son album. Now, in 2011, the tag-team trend appears to be gaining even more traction. Eminem and Royce Da 5’9″ got together as Bad Meets Evil on their Hell: The Sequel EP in June. Of course, there’s Jay and ‘Ye’s Throne, which dropped this week, as did Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame’s Ferrari Boyz LP . Back in January, during a radio interview with the U.K.’s Tim Westwood, Drake spoke on his plans to work with Wayne on a joint project. “We still got to do that album,” he said. “I heard some other guys are coming out with an album too. There’s two other rappers that are coming out with an album together. … I don’t know where they got that idea but …” Hear why Royce Da 5’9″ thinks tag-team albums are good for the game. Baby drew a clear distinction, however, between the Throne’s sound and the sound that Drake and Weezy will be coming with. “It’s older versus younger,” he said. “I listened to a few songs [off Watch the Throne ], and it feels like an older feel to me. I think with Drake and Wayne, they young, they young cats. You got 23 and 28. Then you got Jay-Z and them, who are older and really on their way out the game. Then you got Wayne and Drake and them, who are still youthful to the game. So it’s two different types of music all the way across the board.” Baby did acknowledge the mark that Jay and Kanye have made on the music industry with their WTT release. “But what they’re doing is great. I think it’s great for the game, great for the business, great for retail as a whole,” he continued. “I just think when Wayne and Drake get together, [it’s] going to be something real special also because we more youthful.” With songs like “Successful,” “Miss Me” and “Right Above It” already under their belts, there is no doubt that Wayne and Drake have developed a chemistry, but as for when the duo would actually drop the project, Birdman couldn’t say. Wayne’s Tha Carter IV is due on August 29 and Drake’s sophomore work, Take Care, drops just two months later on October 24, so it may be some time. Drizzy jokes to Tim Westwood about rivaling Kanye and Jay-Z’s Watch the Throne. By Alvin Blanco Drake and Lil Wayne Photo: Julia Beverly Jay-Z and Kanye West already have two potential challengers to their upcoming Watch the Throne. In an interview with U.K. radio personality Tim Westwood, Drake announced that he and Lil Wayne are working on a joint album of their own, and he took a couple of jabs at Hova and Yeezy’s project in the process. “I’ll be on [ Tha Carter IV ], though … We’ve done a great song … and then we’re going to do another one, and another one,” the Young Money MC said. “We still got to do that album. I heard some other guys are coming out with an album, too. There’s two other rappers that are coming out with an album together. … I don’t know where they got that idea but …” Westwood probably knew Drake was referring to Jay-Z and West but played into the coy act, saying, “I’m very slow; can you just break it down a bit simpler for me please?” Then Drake continued, “I just caught wind of it through the grapevine, that there’s some other album coming out with two guys rapping on it too.” “Oh, those two … you mean the older guys,” Westwood said. “Oh, I didn’t say that,” Drake replied. “They look young to me … in their movements.” West and Drake haven’t been as close as they seemed back in 2009, when Yeezy directed the up-and-comer’s video for “Best I Ever Had.” The Toronto rapper recently was left off of the final version of West’s “All of the Lights,” but he told Shade 45 radio that he was OK with it. Drake’s sophomore album, Take Care, is due later this year. Related Photos Drake And Lil Wayne: A Look Back In Photos Related Artists Drake Lil Wayne
‘I think you’ll miss everything about Wayne,’ Drake says. By Shaheem Reid Drake and Lil Wayne in Miami Photo: Julia Beverly The Cash Money/ Young Money family is coping with the reality of having its leader, Lil Wayne, in jail for the next eight-to-12 months , as part of his plea bargain stemming from his July 2007 arrest on gun-possession charges. As part of the deal, Wayne is expected to serve a maximum of 12 months, and with good behavior could serve as little as eight. After he officially enters his plea on Tuesday , the rapper is expected to turn himself in immediately to begin his sentence. On Sunday night in Miami, Drake, Birdman, Nicki Minaj, Gudda Gudda, Mack Maine, Short Dawg,Jae Millz and several other members of the Cash Money/ Young Money family joined Wayne at club Dolce for a farewell party. Another MC Wayne started his career with, B.G., was also in attendance, as were Wale, Sean Garrett and Houston MC Trae Tha Truth. But whether Wayne is gone for eight months or eight days, it’s still a difficult prospect to bear for the crew that takes its “family” billing quite seriously. Cash Money CEO Birdman raps about Weezy going to jail in a new Rick Ross song called “Veterans Day,” which leaked last weekend and also features Wayne. The Cash Money CEO raps: “Junior doing time/ Kicking up his feet/ A million on the books/ I’m stunning with a fleet.” (Wayne’s verse on the song doesn’t address his upcoming jail time.) In the new issue of Rolling Stone, Birdman tells the magazine of his inner turmoil. “Wayne is my son,” Birdman told the magazine, with his eyes reportedly welling up. “I’ve been with him forever. It will be the first time in my life I’ll not be reachable to him. We work together, we’re on the road together. We’re always together. I try not to even think about it. I’m losing something in my soul, in my heart, in my life.” Wayne’s absence is felt throughout his crew. Talking to Rolling Stone, Drake described Wayne as a strong individual. “He’s a strong-willed guy. I can imagine it would take a toll on anybody. I just hope that he comes out for the better. “I think you’ll miss everything about Wayne,” he continued. “I don’t think there will be anybody like Lil Wayne ever again in hip-hop. He paralyzes a room when he walks into it — his wordplay, the excitement that he brings to his music. I think that for eight months, a lot of us will have to work a lot harder to keep hip-hop as exciting as it’s been for the last two years.” Related Photos Lil Wayne’s Weekend In Miami Lil Wayne’s Battle With His Gun Possession Case Related Artists Drake Birdman Lil Wayne
