Source: Raymond Hall / Getty Besides being one of the most respected and iconic R&B singers, Patti LaBelle is also known to be quite the cook. The last time she gave us a taste of her cooking, her Patti Pies created a frenzy and sold out across America. Now she is giving us a taste of her soul food. The Philly native has partnered with Walmart again for a frozen food line of her soul food. “Coming soon to a Walmart near you, you’ll have my savory foods,” LaBelle told the crowd at Essence Fest last weekend MSN reports. “There will be foods like macaroni and cheese. It’s greens, it’s brisket, it’s chicken and biscuits, and five more I can’t think of them.” Text “RICKEY” to 71007 to join the Rickey Smiley Morning Show mobile club for exclusive news.  ( Terms and conditions ). LaBelle warned fans to eat her rich, savory foods moderately because she has to do the same because of her diabetes. “Health is important, I’m a diabetic,” she told the crowd. “And when I make macaroni and cheese I don’t usually eat it, I taste it, because I am a diabetic for 25 years. Ladies and gentlemen, you have to take care of yourselves and eat healthier. But eat.” LaBelle and Walmart have partnered before when she released her famous sweet potato pie, chocolate, caramel and red velvet cakes, buttermilk pies and cobblers. She announced in April that she teamed up with restaurateur Stratis Morfogen to launch a line of frozen Chinese foods as well. Sign Up For Our Newsletter! Close Thank you for subscribing! Macaulay Culkin Dead? Hoax Goes Viral, Claims Actor Found Dead in Apartment

Macaulay Culkin is not dead, despite another fast-spreading Internet hoax indicating the Home Alone star’s demise … for the second time this year alone. The troubled and sometimes reclusive actor, 34, who at one point was reportedly in the throes of heroin addiction and appeared gaunt, is alive and well. According to the latest Macaulay Culkin death hoax, he was found dead in his Manhattan apartment. Facebook and Twitter users quickly bought in. With fans linking to a story on something called MSNBC (dot) website (dot) com – obviously not the real NBC, MSN or MSNBC – the story went viral. According to the unconfirmed and unsubstantiated reports, Culkin was found dead after police responded to a wellness check requested by a family member: “At least one occupant of the Manhattan apartment confirmed the apartment belongs to Culkin but police have not confirmed the man’s identity at this time.” Det. James Patterson, allegedly of the Manhattan Police Department, said: “The apartment was exceptionally clean and we found no signs of abuse or foul-play so we are depending on the coroner to make a final ruling of what happened.” The actor turned musician was also reported dead back in April, with Facebook users mourning his alleged death and even a memorial page popping up. Though reps for the actor denied the April reports, they have not yet spoken out on the latest hoax claiming that Culkin is dead … but he’s still not. He was seen with his band, The Pizza Underground , last night (see above). Celebrity Death Hoaxes: Stars the Internet Fake-Killed 1. Lil Wayne Lil Wayne has been the subject of more than one death hoax over the years … and more than one actual near-death experience. So it’s believalble. Culkin has become much lower profile as an adult than when he was one of the biggest child stars of all time, so it’s easy to see how one would believe this. Mila Kunis’ longtime boyfriend is doing perfectly fine for himself, though, despite pranksters with no consciences attempting to spread such nasty rumors. Add this to the list of celebrities the Internet has fake killed over the years.

Burps, Farts, Horse Poo And “Diyareeya”: Blogger Mom Shares “Precious” 8-Year-Old Son’s Letters From Camp

Oh the isht kids say! Boy Writes Letter From Camp Full Of Stories About Farts, Burps & Poop Our friends at Guyism posted this amazing letter from a kid who finally wrote his mom back after she started sending him daily letters. Liesl Testwuide took to ScaryMommy.com to reveal the gross but revealing letter-writing exchange between her and her son after he left home for camp for the first time. Here’s part of her blog, via MSN : Last year, my eight year-old son went to summer camp. It was the first time he had been away from home for more than a night. An hour after I dropped him off, I missed him. By the time I went to bed, I found myself wandering into his bedroom, just to feel close to him. As the days passed, I wrote to him daily. Each hour dragged as I’d wait for the mailman, hoping for just one letter from him. By that point I missed him so much, I began to imagine what he might write. As you’ve probably already guessed by our title the letter she received was nothing like what she imagined. YIKES! Think the push pops had anything to do with his runs??? Bindi Irwin Not Dead; Trending Hoax to Blame For False Report

Bindi Irwin, the 14-year-old daughter of late “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin, is alive and well despite a hoax reporting her untimely demise this week. A rumor that the teen died started to pick up steam on Twitter Friday, and then “Steve Irwin daughter dies” climbed all the way to No. 4 on MSN trends. We know, we know … who uses MSN trends. But still! Effed up! Two days ago Bindi tweeted a link to an interview she gave in Hong Kong, saying, “I had such a wonderful time there.” And posted the pic above. She’s fine. Interestingly, the consensus is that interest in Bindi and her new film Return From Nim Island , combined with her late father’s death, led to the “hoax.” In other words, chalk this up to technical problems and a bizarrely macabre trending snafu, rather than a deliberate campaign to fake-kill Bindi. Time to switch up the ol’ algorithm, MSN.

The 9 Most Scathing Critical Responses To ‘Red Dawn’

You can be sure the folks at MGM are really happy they spent $70 million and counting remaking the totally ’80s teen insurgency actioner Red Dawn for the CW set. (Not to mention sitting on , then digitally reworking their baddies from Chinese to more marketable Korean villains because they look similar enough anyway, right ?) The clumsy, politically misguided, arguably irresponsible, totally ” America: F*** yeah! ” tale of Washingtonian teens taking up arms against North Korean invaders is so fantastically paranoid and plodding, it’s yielded some of the most rancorous reviews in recent memory. Crack open a Budweiser and raise the flag and let’s get to poring over the 9 most scathing critical responses to Red Dawn ! 9. “There aren’t many occasions when I think a movie literally shouldn’t have ever been made, but the release — or more specifically, the end result — of Red Dawn marks an important one.” — Todd Gilchrist , Celebuzz 8. ” Red Dawn is a ghoulish parody of reality, served up earnestly and obliviously, to an audience whose enjoyment will, perforce, be directly proportional to its ignorance.” — Hugh Ryan , Salon 7. “Reasonably dopey fun on its own, the remade Red Dawn simply can’t stand up to the real-world issues it steps on like a land mine.” — Mark Olsen , L.A. Times 6. “This paint-by-numbers picture with false drama and middling action has next to nothing to justify its very existence. Red Dawn , on a fundamental level, is garbage.” — Jordan Hoffman , Film.com 5. “Early on, I was rolling my eyes at the strained familiarity of Red Dawn ; by the time it started wedging Subway references into the mouths of its teenage freedom fighters between firefights, I may have been rooting for the invaders a little.” — James Rocchi , MSN 4. “Less easy to overlook though is [Josh] Peck’s overactive emoting or the dumbstruck look that [Isabel] Lucas can’t seem to shake. Some of these actors are just dead, and that’s before they’re supposed to be.” — Tom Long , Detroit News 3. “[As] the forces of Kim Jong-un overrun Spokane, Wash., by sea in Red Dawn , a soon-to-go-guerilla high schooler exclaims, ‘North Korea? That doesn’t make sense!’ Get used to it, kid.” — Jim Slotek , Jam! 2. “By the end, we appreciate the wisdom of the character who says, ‘Dude, we’re living Call of Duty . And it sucks.’ That’s a big 10-4, soldier.” — Jay Stone , Canada.com 1. “[The] Heaven’s Gate for the Hunger Games generation… Not since The Truman Show have we seen characters so blatantly stunted by studio interference.” — David Erlich , Box Office Magazine Way to go, Wolverines! Kristen Stewart’s ‘Snow White’: The Reviews Are In!

Critics agree ‘breathtaking imagery’ makes ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ the fairest adaptation of them all. By Fallon Prinzivalli Kristen Stewart in “Snow White and the Huntsman” Photo: Universal “Snow White and the Huntsman” is not your average fairy tale. The princess is quite capable of saving herself, the prince is vying for Snow’s love with the handsome Huntsman, and the Dark Forest is ever more present than any furry woodland creatures. Director Rupert Sanders created a darker version of the classic story where Snow White gears up for battle against Queen Ravenna , and the evil witch actually has an emotional reason for why she’s killing females to remain young. Kristen Stewart leads the film as the title character, with stunning performances by Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth and Sam Claflin. Stewart will be one of the many stars in attendance at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards this Sunday, June 3, where she’ll act as a presenter and compete for the Golden Popcorn in the Best Kiss and Movie of the Year categories. Until then, audiences can catch her in action beginning Friday when “Snow White” hits theaters. Read on to find out why critics are calling this the fairest adaptation of all. The Story “Astonishingly beautiful and breathtaking in its brutal imagery, ‘Snow White & the Huntsman’ is thrilling and frightening in equal measure, yet as bereft of satisfying substance as a poisoned apple. Rupert Sanders’ revisionist take on the classic Brothers Grimm fable, the first feature from the respected British commercial director, upends expectations of traditional gender roles while simultaneously embracing what a fairy tale should be. It’s dark and dangerous, vicious and violent. Yes, there are dwarves and adorable, furry woodland creatures but more often, death is a constant threat.” — Christy Lemire, Associated Press The Special Effects “Director Rupert Sanders, with his first feature, has come up with some jaw droppingly beautiful shots, almost tactile in their richness, and uses special effects to enhance that look, rather than just showing off.” — Bill Goodykoontz, Arizona Republic Kristen Stewart “Kristen Stewart is not an obvious choice for Snow White, given her habitual expression of discomfort while striking conventional feminine poses — both in movies and on red carpets. That’s why, of course, she’s right for this Snow White, imprisoned in a tower during puberty and with no regard for her looks: She has integrity, inner beauty. ‘How do I inspire? How do I lead men?’ she asks the Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth), a grief-stricken drunk who teaches Snow White how to stab her opponents by using the weight of their onrushing bodies against them. She’s not a barrel of laughs, but then, unlike recent fractured fairy tales such as ‘Tangled’ and the campy ‘Mirror Mirror,’ ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ doesn’t have a single (intentional) laugh.” — David Edelstein, New York Magazine The Dwarves “For a while the movie chugs along serviceably. … But then things pick up. How? Three words, as Hemsworth’s character puts it: ‘Oh no. Dwarves.’ Yes, this version does have dwarves, and they’re played by non-dwarf actors who’ve been reduced by special effects, and at least one of those actors hasn’t been in a really big picture in some time. And they are feisty and different and delightful, and their ruminations on their loyalties to the kingdom and the young woman they acknowledge as their rightful queen help shift the picture into high gear, as does a shift from a dark forest to an enchanted wood that packs some of the movie’s most magical visuals.” — Glenn Kenny, MSN Movies The Final Word “Ravenna’s delivery of the poisoned apple to Snow White is brilliantly done, perhaps the movie’s best revisionist moment, but after that the momentum declines sharply. Snow White ‘dies’ and is revived — more mysteriously, and with less emotional impact, than in the Disney film — and then she must lead her rebel troops into battle, delivering a knockoff version of the St. Crispin’s Day inspirational speech from ‘Henry V’ … I’m inclined to conclude that ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ is a vigorous simulacrum of classic fantasy, rather than the real thing. But keep your expectations reasonable, and that’s enough to make it one of the summer’s unexpected delights.” — Andrew O’Hehir, Salon .
