A graphic t-shirt will run you about $15.00 while the collection tops out at a teddy bear coat running you $65.00. Via press release, Walmart’s Head of Fashion, Denise Incandela, stated, “I’m thrilled to announce we’re helping customers build ‘The Ultimate Closet’ with the exclusive relaunch of Scoop as Walmart’s private brand for fashion-forward customers.” Walmart worked closely with Scoop founder Stefani Greenfield and the collection is forward thinking. There are elements like being animal friendly by incorporating certified vegan leather and faux fur. There are on trend elements like animal print and camouflage and they even knocked off the Jacquemus Le Chiquiti Bag, creating affordable and acccessible fashion. The collection has clothing that will be great to add to your work wardrobe as well as your after 5 wardrobe but the accessories are personally what stood out to me. I attended the launch event for the brand and had the opportunity to see an array of influencers wearing the brand. Unfortunately, there were not any plus size women wearing the clothes, which to me was a major miss. I’d love to see how these clothes look on plus size women, especially since according to Plunkett Research , 68% percent of American women wear a size 14 or above. N BA star LeBron James ’ impact goes far beyond the basketball court. The Akron, Ohio native has continually utilized his platform and resources to support individuals in need. According to WKYC , the Los Angeles Lakers player surprised one of the students from his I Promise School with a shopping spree just in time for the new school year. “We shouldn’t have our kids worrying about if they’re going to have pencils and bookbags. He teamed up with the national retailer earlier this year to assist with pushing their initiatives surrounding education and hunger forward. The student, whose name is LaRiyah , was gifted with a back-to-school spree for herself and her peers at a Walmart in Kent, Ohio. For James, this act of kindness was personal. While coming of age in Akron he witnessed first-hand how school supplies can become a financial burden for families who are struggling to make ends meet. “Coming from Akron, it’s easy for me to be able to relate to anyone of my kids in school because I’ve walked those same roads, not knowing if you’re going to be able to go back to school,” said James in a statement. “To have such a great partnership with Walmart and outfit our kids with supplies, I believe is going to do something for their confidence to just hit the ground running.” The surprise was just one of a few social good projects that James is leading with Walmart. Earlier this year—as part of the Fight Hunger Spark Change campaign —James created a pantry at the I Promise School for underserved families that featured food and personal care items. James isn’t the only NBA player on a mission to provide underprivileged students with the items they need to have a good school year. After 21-year-old Patrick Crusius of Allen, Texas killed 20 people and injured 26 at a Walmart in El Paso , a gunman opened fire in Dayton, Ohio. NBC News reports that 9 people are dead and 26 injured after a gunman wearing body armor and armed with a rifle and high-capacity magazines opened fire on a line of people waiting to get inside Ned Peppers Bar in Dayton’s Oregon District. Police responded to the scene quickly, in less than one minute, and killed the gunman whose been described as a “heavyset” white man. Dayton mayor Nan Whaley noted police’s quick response but wondered why the mass shooting happened. “If Dayton police had not gotten to the shooter in under a minute – and think about that, nine killed and 26 injured in under a minute – hundred of people in the Oregon District would have been killed,” Whaley said during a press conference. “Clearly, the question has to be, why does Dayton have to be the 250th shooting in America?” Whaley said. “Two hundred and fifty this year. El Paso was 249, Dayton was 250.” This is all so, so crazy and of course, deranged Dorito is offering nothing but “thoughts and prayers” for the people of Texas and the people of Ohio. According to WKYT , a woman in Pennsylvania suspected of urinating on potatoes at Walmart has turned herself in. Authorities say 20-year-old Grace Brown is facing multiple charges including open lewdness, criminal mischief and public drunkenness. Brown turned herself into officials on Tuesday when she learned folks were looking for her. Authorities posted surveillance images of the incident on Twitter, but they didn’t disclose when the incident took place or why she allegedly let her waste fly on the potatoes. Peeing on potatoes!! Shortly after he was released, he was jailed again for four more years after attacking a woman in 2010. When he was released in 2014, he was deemed “too old to be dangerous,” but the Washington Post reports that Flick was convicted once again on Wednesday of stabbing a homeless woman 11 times in broad daylight, in front of her two sons. In 2010, a judge ignored the prosecutors’ requests for a longer sentence following his attack on a woman, stating that Flick was not a threat due to his age–this was when he was in his late ’60s. He committed his second murder last year, targeting homeless woman Kimberly Dobbie after he became obsessed with her and began to stalk her. He reportedly learned that she was planning to leave Lewiston, Maine–which is where Flick moved to when he was released in 2014–and he thought to himself, “If I can’t have her, I will kill her.” Flick bought a pair of knives at a Walmart prior to the day of the killing. The next day, he proceeded to attack and murder Dobbie in front of a laundromat, piercing both her heart and lungs in the process. Her 11-year-old twin sons and three men all witnessed the attack and attempted to stop him, but were unsuccessful. “It was soul-crushing for them,” juror Caitlain Jasper said about the incident. “And they’ll never be able to forget it.” Before Flick killed Dobbie, he became so obsessed with her that he started to eat at the same homeless shelter as her in order to get closer. Eslie Clement, who saw Albert stab her mother to death back in 1979, said the judge responsible for freeing him will have to answer for their lax sentencing of him in 2010. “I would like to just see [everyone involved] in a line and stand there and tell [Dobbie’s] boys, explain to them how this man was on the streets and how it’s OK,” she said. “How the law makes it alright for their mom to now be gone and for them to have to witness it” Albert Flick was convicted of murder on Wednesday, and, this time, it looks likely that he’ll actually spend the rest of his life in prison. The charges carry a minimum 25-year sentence, and prosecutors plan to request that he be placed behind bars for life.
