The last time she gave us a taste of her cooking, her Patti Pies created a frenzy and sold out across America. Now she is giving us a taste of her soul food. The Philly native has partnered with Walmart again for a frozen food line of her soul food. “Coming soon to a Walmart near you, you’ll have my savory foods,” LaBelle told the crowd at Essence Fest last weekend MSN reports. “There will be foods like macaroni and cheese. Ladies and gentlemen, you have to take care of yourselves and eat healthier. But eat.” LaBelle and Walmart have partnered before when she released her famous sweet potato pie, chocolate, caramel and red velvet cakes, buttermilk pies and cobblers. Jackson State University Student Creates Straw That Filters Lead

F or Jackson State University graduate student LaMonté Pierce what started out as a class project focused on addressing an issue faced by communities in Mississippi led to the creation of a product designed to combat lead poisoning in water, WJTV reported. They designed a straw that could be used to filter water. Pierce and his classmate Andrew Willis decided to go beyond the project and continue to do research and testing to turn the straw into a product that would be a catalyst in addressing water contamination in communities across the globe. Pierce’s efforts led to the creation of Cleanstraww . The straws are made of non-toxic materials and has a three-step filtering process which divides sediment and particles from water. He utilized a 3-D printer for the creation of the straw. “I saw somewhere they were drinking out of toilets, they were drinking from the river, different things like that. They use simple filters that you can find in everyday filters, but the thing was they did not filter out lead. If we can filter out lead, we can pretty much filter out anything,” he told the news outlet. “Take the responsibility of clean water directly out of the government, state and city officials hands and put it in the hands of the consumers. If you want clean water, here you go.” Several national retailers have expressed interest in selling his product, including Walmart. Pierce hopes that he can find investors for his product to grow his business and create more jobs in Mississippi. Products like Cleanstraww are needed. According to CBS News , lead in America’s water systems has become a growing national crisis. Carolina Shooting According to WSOC-TV ,  charges against DaBaby for his connection to a deadly shooting in Charlotte, North Carolina have been dropped. The Charlotte-born rapper had been charged with carrying a concealed gun and was arrested after the death of 19-year-old Jalyn Craig. The alleged incident took place at a Walmart in Huntersville, North Carolina on Nov. 5 of last year. Police came to the scene after shots reportedly went off inside the store. They arrived to find that Craig had been hit in the midsection and died. Four people were subsequently taken into custody by the Huntersville Police Department. DaBaby verified that he was indeed involved in the shooting, explaining that it was a matter of self-defense and that the camera footage would support his story. He alleged that while he was shopping with his family, he was approached by two men in the store who had weapons. “If them gunshots ain’t go off, n***a, my fuckin’ daughter could’ve got hit, son could’ve got hit, me,” he said. “Fuckin’ lawyers telling me not to say something and shit, fuck all that. Two n***as walk down on you and your whole muthafuckin’ family, threaten y’all, whip out on y’all, n***a, let me see what y’all gon’ too. You feel me?”

Source: John Greim / Getty Tulsa Woman Arrested For Popping Arby’s Customer After Altercation An infuriated Arby’s manager has been arrested after shooting and killing one of their unruly customers. According to the report from Tulsa Worldwide, Deionna Young, 25, was arrested in the shooting death of Desean Tallent, 25, in east Tulsa on Saturday evening. Police say that Tallent and Young got into an altercation Saturday evening about an hour before the shooting, according to a news release. Young was the manager at the Arby’s, where Tallent threatened and assaulted her by spitting on her. About an hour after the initial altercation, Tallent, the unruly customer RETUNED to the location. Why?! Police said Young got in her car and followed Tallent out of the parking lot north on Garnett Road from the store. Young reportedly fired one shot with a .45-caliber handgun, which was not licensed, at Tallent’s SUV and returned to work. Tallent drove the SUV north to Walmart where he crashed into one of the entrances after having suffered a gunshot wound to his upper torso. He later died at the hospital. Young is being held without bond at Tulsa County jail. Insane!

Be honest, at one point in time, you thought about cursing out your co-workers too. Before quitting his job at Walmart, one Grand Prairie teen did just that. Jackson Racicot dialed into the intercom system of the department store and let shopper and fellow employees know just how fed up he was with working there. The 17-year ranted, I’ve been a loyal employee here for a year and a half and I’m sick of all the bulls—t, bogus write-ups and my job. F*** management, f*** this job and f*** Walmart. Walmart released a statement on Friday, saying: “We are aware of the video circulating online and are disappointed by this incident. Respect for all individuals including our associates and customers is a core value at Walmart. We are looking into this matter and will address it internally as required.” Did Racicot take it too far — or does he have a point?
