The award ceremony was held in New York City’s Lexington Avenue Armory. Kelly Ripa was the host for the night and honorees included Aretha Franklin, and stars from honored shows such as “In Living Color,” “One Day at a Time,” “Laverne & Shirley,” and “Pee-Wee’s Playhouse.”

Emmy Award- Winning Writer, Producer, Director, Keenen Ivory Wayans was moved to tears during his American Black Film Festival (ABFF) Entertainment Icon Award acceptance speech. The event was the culmination of the four day festival which took place July 6 – 9th. Keenen Ivory Wayans To Be Honored At ABFF During his speech he reflected on his 30 year friendship with fellow filmmaker Robert Townsend.
