Military Veteran Fired For Missing Work To Attend Birth Of Baby A military vet was fired last week after missing work to watch the birth of his baby boy reports The Concord Monitor . Lamar Austin, the former part-time security guard, was fired because he was expected to be on call 24/7 reports the news outlet. Because New Hampshire is an “at-will” employment state, an employer may generally terminate an employment relationship for part-time or full-time workers at any time and for any reason, with a few exceptions. That means Austin has little in the way of legal protection, no matter how good an excuse the birth of a child may seem, legal experts said. Sara Persechino, a mother of two in Hopkinton, doesn’t think that’s fair. Persechino was on the Hopkinton select board in 2014 when it unanimously voted in favor of paid family leave for town employees. How long do you think it took Arnold Schwarzenegger to come up with the title “Total Recall” for his autobiography? Probably slightly longer than it took him to spill the beans on his ” outrageous affair ” with his Red Sonja (1985) co-star Brigitte Nielsen . Ah-nold claims Brigitte was unaware of his relationship with live-in girlfriend/future wife Maria Shriver at the time, placing the blame on him and his wandering sperm-inator. But according to Time magazine, there’s a silver lining to this dark cloud of steroid-fueled infidelity: ” Schwarzenegger writes that he knew the fling with Nielsen wouldn’t last and in fact it only made him realize that he wanted to marry Shriver. ” How…romantic? Anyway, as we all know, Arnold went on to knock up a housekeeper with more than a passing resemblance to Russ Meyer queen Kitten Natividad and Brigitte went on to very publicly make out with Flavor Flav on cable TV. So needless to say, this wasn’t exactly a low point for either of them. Johnny Depp is ready to pay Vanessa Paradis a massive amount as a good faith gesture and to keep their separation amicable, according to reports. Though they were never married, the actor is prepared to give his partner of 14 years an out-of-court settlement in excess of $150 million. Depp and Paradis separated this week, but are determined to keep the already difficult breakup amicable. A nine-figure check can’t hurt. As the couple weren’t married, negotiations over financial support could be complicated, according to legal experts … which is why it just won’t happen. Call it the opposite of Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian . Depp harbors no ill will toward Paradis and wants to avoid legal wrangling. Said an insider: “he will make a generous lump sum payment as a settlement.” French singer Paradis is also expected to retain ownership of a house in Plan-de-la-Tour in southern France, leaving Depp with his Hollywood Hills home.
