In Shady White Folks News: Michael Douglas Says He Lied About Having Throat Cancer, Reveals He Actually Had Tongue Cancer

How do we know you’re not lying now Michael ? Michael Douglas Lied About Having Throat Cancer A couple months ago Michael had everyone scratching their heads when he claimed to have gotten throat cancer from pleasuring the box then he later denied this. Now, dude is saying he never had it…he has the worst public relations team in history. According to US Weekly Michael Douglas has spoken candidly in the past about his 2010 battle with cancer. But it turns out that he wasn’t being completely honest about his diagnosis. In a new interview with pal Samuel L. Jackson for the U.K. talk show This Morning, the 69-year-old Oscar winner reveals that he actually had tongue cancer — not, as he previously claimed, throat cancer. Recalling the moment he knew something was terribly wrong, Douglas says, “[The doctor] just took a tongue depressor and — I will never forget it — I saw this look in his eye. And I went, ‘Oh.’ And they took a biopsy, and two days later, they said, ‘You have cancer.’” At the time, the Behind the Candelabra star was preparing to go to Europe to promote the movie Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. “You can’t cancel a worldwide European tour junket thing and say, ‘I don’t feel well.’ You gotta tell ‘em. So I said, ‘We just gotta come out [with the diagnosis],’” Douglas explains. His doctor agreed — but he advised the star to fudge the truth a little. “He said, ‘Let’s just say it’s throat cancer…We don’t want to say it’s tongue cancer,’” the actor tells Jackson. “I said, ‘Why is that?’ He said, ‘Well, if you really want to know why — if we do have to do surgery, it’s not going to be pretty. You’ll lose part of your jaw and your tongue, and all of that stuff.’” Worried he might never work again — or worse — the father of three did as his doctor said. He managed to avoid losing his tongue, but his appearance did change. “I looked pretty weird,” he recalls. “I lost a lot of weight.” These days, though, he’s proud to say he has a clean bill of health. He recently passed the two-year mark of being cancer-free — which is a big deal. “With my type of cancer, if you’re clean after two years, there’s a 95 percent chance it’s not coming back,” he tells Jackson. Douglas knows how lucky he is to be well, and he hopes other men will learn from his experience. “Hey guys, you look at your body every day. You know every mole, everything that’s there,” he advises. “You see something that looks a little strange, you feel a bump somewhere, check it out — please. I made the mistake. I don’t want to see you do it.” Whatever he had, at least he is doing well now. Continue reading

Michael Douglas: I’m Married!

Michael Douglas is still sporting his wedding ring, and it’s not just symbolic, he says. He wants everyone to know he is still married to Catherine Zeta-Jones. The star responded to recent reports about his separation from Zeta-Jones by saying “there is no crisis” and they “are fine” despite a “temporary separation.” Michael Douglas: Marriage Not in Crisis Douglas was in Berlin for the premiere of his movie Behind the Candelabra, when a reporter asked him why he was still wearing a ring on his wedding finger. His simple response? “I’m married.” Just last week, the couple’s reps said they were separating after 13 years. Conflicting reports aside, it looks like Douglas isn’t ready to throw in the towel. It’s not clear why the duo, who are parents of two children, decided to separate, but rumors have centered around the couple’s dueling health problems. Douglas’ throat cancer – and his claim that he got HPV from oral sex – and Catherine’s struggle with bipolar disorder have made headlines in recent years. Here’s hoping they can work it out!

The Side Eye: Michael Douglas Says He Didn’t Get Throat Cancer From Pleasuring The Kitty Kat

Michael , we think your peoples got to you. Michael Douglas Corrects Throat Cancer Statement According to People When Michael Douglas mentioned in an interview that performing oral sex could be a risk factor for the type of throat cancer he had, his comments swept the Internet. Now the Behind the Candelabra star is issuing a clarification. “Michael Douglas did not say cunnilingus was the cause of his cancer,” his rep says in a statement. “It was discussed that oral sex is a suspected cause of certain oral cancers as doctors in the article point out but he did not say it was the specific cause of his personal cancer.” Douglas, 68, announced in 2011 that he had beaten his cancer after going through radiation and chemotherapy to treat a tumor on the base of his tongue. Over the weekend, in an interview with The Guardian, he was asked whether he regretted drinking and smoking since both can lead to oral cancers. “No. Because without wanting to get too specific, this particular cancer is caused by HPV [human papillomavirus], which actually comes about from cunnilingus,” he was quoted as saying. He added: “I did worry if the stress caused by my son’s incarceration didn’t help trigger it.” (His son Cameron pleaded guilty in 2011 to possessing drugs in his jail cell while serving a federal prison sentence for drug dealing.) “But yeah, it’s a sexually transmitted disease that causes cancer,” the Oscar-winning actor continued. “And if you have it, cunnilingus is also the best cure for it,” Douglas said jokingly. Yeah, we know you like the “Hello Kitty” Mike. No need to be ashamed.

In White Folks News: 68-Year-Old Michael Douglas Reveals He Got Throat Cancer From Pleasuring The “Lady Nether Regions”

Michael Douglas Reveals The Cause Of His Throat Cancer Michael Douglas was doing way too much with his tongue and as a result, he ended up with throat cancer. Via Raw Story: In a surprisingly frank interview with the Guardian, the actor, now winning plaudits in the Liberace biopic Behind the Candelabra, explained the background to a condition that was thought to be nearly fatal when diagnosed three years ago. Asked whether he now regretted his years of smoking and drinking, usually thought to be the cause of the disease, Douglas replied: “No. Because without wanting to get too specific, this particular cancer is caused by HPV [human papillomavirus], which actually comes about from cunnilingus.” Douglas, the husband of Catherine Zeta Jones, continued: “I did worry if the stress caused by my son’s incarceration didn’t help trigger it. But yeah, it’s a sexually transmitted disease that causes cancer. And if you have it, cunnilingus is also the best cure for it.” The actor, now 68, was diagnosed with cancer in August 2010, following many months of oral discomfort. But a series of specialists missed the tumour and instead prescribed antibiotics. Douglas then went to see a friend’s doctor in Montreal who looked inside his mouth using a tongue depressor. “I will always remember the look on his face,” Douglas has previously said. “He said: ‘We need a biopsy.’ There was a walnut-size tumour at the base of my tongue that no other doctor had seen.” Shortly afterwards he was diagnosed with stage four cancer, which is often terminal, and embarked on an intensive eight-week course of chemotherapy and radiation. He refused to use a feeding tube, despite his palate being burnt on account of the treatment, and so lost 20kg (45lb) on a liquids-only diet. “That’s a rough ride. That can really take it out of you,” he told the Guardian. “Plus the amount of chemo I was getting, it zaps all the good stuff too. It made me very weak.” The treatment worked and Douglas is now more than two years clear of cancer. He has check-ups every six months, he said, “and with this kind of cancer, 95% of the time it doesn’t come back”. The cause of Douglas’s cancer had long been assumed to be related to his tobacco habit, coupled with enthusiastic boozing. In 1992, he was hospitalised for an addiction which some at the time claimed to be sex. Douglas himself denied this and said he was in rehab for alcohol abuse. He has also spoken of recreational drug use. HPV, the sexually transmitted virus best known as a cause of cervical and anal cancer and genital warts, is thought to be responsible for an increasing proportion of oral cancers. Some suggest that changes in sexual behaviour – a rise in oral sex in particular – are responsible. Such changes might be cultural, but could also be linked to fears about the safety of penetrative sex in the wake of the Aids epidemic. Interesting….take notes kids! WENN Continue reading
