What In The Chlorine-Filled Filth? Half Of Americans Report Using Swimming Pool In Place Of Shower

Source: Fuse / Getty New Survey Says Over Half Of American Adults Use Swimming Pool In Lieu Of Shower So according to a new report, you might have some cousins out here using the swimming pool for bathing rather than for say, SWIMMING. According to CBS News , a new survey found that more than half of U.S. adults use a swimming pool as a kind of communal bathtub, admitting to swimming as a substitute for showering or rinsing off after exercise. Folks do this even though two-thirds of the people surveyed say they know that swimming pool chemicals don’t eliminate the need to shower before swimming. “When dirt, sweat, personal care products, and other things on our bodies react with chlorine, there is less chlorine available to kill germs,” Dr. Chris Wiant, chair of the Water Quality & Health Council, said. “Rinsing off for just one minute removes most of the dirt, sweat, or anything else on your body.” The report was conducted online by Sachs Media Group and they surveyed 3,100 American adults. In their study, they also found that 40% of Americans admit to peeing in the pool as an adult. Again, EVEN THOUGH experts warn that when urine reacts with chlorine, it reduces the amount of the chemical available to kill germs. “The bottom line is: Don’t pee in the pool,” said Michele Hlavsa, chief of the CDC’s Healthy Swimming program. Yes, grown adults need to be told this. “Swimming is a great way to be physically active and not peeing in the pool is a key healthy swimming step,” added Hlavsa. If you thought washing and peeing were the only nasty a$$ things people did in the people, prepare yourself. The survey also showed that a quarter of Americans said they’d go in a swimming pool within one hour of having diarrhea and 48% said they never shower before taking a dip. The CDC advises that all swimmers keep out of the pool if they have diarrhea, since this can contaminate the pool with germs and feces, which can make other people sick. Health professionals also say everyone should rinse off before dipping in the pool. Again, you wouldn’t think grown adults wouldn’t have to be told this, but here we are.

Knifed Up: Kylie Jenner And Instagram Stars Blamed For Surge Of Teens Getting Plastic Surgery

Kylie Jenner Blamed For Teenagers Getting Plastic Surgery In a world of high-definition everything, the pressure is on for everyone to always look their best. For a celebrity, with cameras, both their own and that of the paparazzi, constantly on them, plastic surgery is often the answer — sometimes before the person is even old enough to vote. Via Fox News : For regular, non-famous people who don’t live in the public eye, Instagram can be stressful enough already. Not only do your friends’ lives seem more fun, but their skin looks smoother, their waists slimmer. According to The American Society of Plastic Surgeons, nearly 18,000 teens ages 13-19 got a form of Botox in 2013. There seems to be ever more pressure for young people to look perfect. Are our public standards of beauty so new? Getting nipped and tucked certainly isn’t. Younger women altering themselves isn’t exactly novel, either. What’s new, though, is how common it is. The 2014 Annual American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Survey blamed “the rise of the selfie,” and there may be something to that. We’re taking more pictures of ourselves and each other than ever before and our exhibitionist lives are leading to a pressure for beauty that is starting at an ever younger age. We use Photoshop, Instagram filters and other enhancements to project our best looks to the world. Plastic surgery doesn’t seem so crazy as the next step anymore. We’re perfecting our best angle in every picture we snap and changing ourselves to improve on it. One of the most visible examples of this is Kylie Jenner who, at the age of 16, went from an awkward but still very pretty teenager to an unrecognizable bombshell. Though she only admits to having her lips plumped, speculation is that her butt, breasts and nose have all been done as well. Kylie addressed her changed lips during an episode of her family’s hit show “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” In it, she said she had always felt insecure about her looks and so she had fillers put in to boost her lips. Plastic surgery or nah?? But… Would you allow your teen to get plastic surgery???

The Bachelor Season Finale Recap: Who Did Chris Soules Choose?

On The Bachelor season finale, Chris Soules was forced to choose between Whitney Bischoff and Becca Tilley. To whom would he give his final rose? It all came down to this on The Bachelor Season 19 Episode 12, the unforgettable conclusion, followed of course by the After the Final Rose special. And unlike a year ago, the star did not leave Bachelor Nation disappointed. Well, he might have disappointed you with his choice, but at least he proposed, and seems to love her, and is not a total asshat like Juan Pablo. Yeah. The 33-year-old Chris had the bar set pretty low for him, didn’t he? Anyway, we came into tonight with just two women remaining on this “journey,” two beautiful and engaging young ladies yearning to be … well, engaged. Would it be Becca Tilley, the 25-year-old virgin from Louisiana, whose inexperience in relationships (and life) gave Chris and his family pause? Or would it be Whitney Bischoff, the 29-year-old fertility nurse from Chicago, whose eagerness to drop her career for a life in Iowa seemed too perfect? There was only one final rose? Did Chris propose? Are they still together? Well, let’s just say that The Bachelor spoilers were pretty spot on in 2015. The longtime speculation regarding the winner was accurate, just as the details regarding the majority of the season and how we got to this point. So who won and who lost out on a life in Arlington this evening? The Bachelor Couples: Are They Still Together? 1. Chris Soules and Whitney Bischoff View Photo Chris Soules and Whitney Bischoff just got engaged on The Bachelor season finale in March 2015. Andi Dorfman and Josh Murray View Photo Andi Dorfman and Josh Murray split up after just six months together. Amazingly, they appeared happily together and in love just days before they called it off. The End. Up Next: ” The Bachelor Couples: Are They Still Together? .” We’ll be redirecting you shortly… After lots of (probably fake) hemming and hawing, Chris did some Soules searching (sorry) and made the decision that will change his life forever: He proposed to Whitney Bischoff! And she said yes, people! OMG!!!! Both women met his family, Whitney got the ring and Becca was sent packing after Chris tried to get her to open up and say she was in love with him. Didn’t happen. Soules broke up with her with as much class as one can, then popped the question to Whitney. No last-minute drama or crazy development. Standard final rose ceremony dumping and proposal … at least for now. We were promised a big twist by host Chris Harrison on the After the Final Rose special, although Chris Harrison says that every single season. Becca handled the breakup as well as anyone could, and may or may not be a cyborg with zero human emotions. The jury is still out on that. Whitney and Chris then reunited on stage for the first time as a public couple, and seemed just as happy and in love as they were in his Iowa barn. Almost as happy as Chris’ mom and dad. Those two are so darn cute. So, THGers… hit the comments and vote in our survey below: Chris Soules and Whitney Bischoff: Will it last? OMG Yes! Of course! They are made for each other! Maybe. Not sure, but they’ve got a chance. No way! I just don’t see the connection. Fear Of Black Skin: Study Finds White Residents Who See Black People Voting Are More In Favor Of Voter Suppression Laws

Study Finds White People More In Support Of Voter Suppression Laws After Seeing Black People Vote via Kulture Kritic Researchers from the University of Delaware’s Center for Political Communication have released a new study suggesting that photographs of black Americans using voting machines affect white respondents’ support of voter-ID laws. According to the study (pdf), when white survey respondents saw an image of black Americans using ballot machines, they had stronger support for voter ID than those who did not see the image. Furthermore, seeing white Americans using ballot machines had no impact on respondents’ support of the controversial laws. “Our findings suggest that public opinion about voter-ID laws can be racialized by simply showing images of African-American people,” David C. Wilson, who helped supervise the nationwide study, said. For the survey, which was conducted online in 2012, respondents were divided into three groups, one of which saw an image of black voters, one that saw an image of white voters and one that saw no image at all. In the first group, which saw a picture of black voters, 73 percent of white respondents said that they favored voter-ID laws. This is in comparison with the white respondentsin the remaining two groups, who were 67 percent in favor. The 6-percentage-point difference is big enough to be statistically significant, researchers say. “Majorities in all three groups favored voter-ID laws, but the margin was wider when white respondents saw a black person using a voting machine,” Wilson said.
