College Instructor Faces Death Threats For ‘Anti-White’ Teachings

Excerpt from:

Source: Thatree Thitivongvaroon / Getty A debate director for Weber State University faces death threats and risks losing his job due to the accusations of one of his students. According to the Standard Examiner, the university has launched an investigation surrounding Ryan Wash , the Black debate director, and Michael Moreno , a White student, who accuses him of teaching an anti-white curriculum. Moreno rails against Wash on his viral YouTube channel , claiming that Wash doesn’t allow students to develop their own argument, but instead forces them to adhere to arguments that he selects or approves. These are usually arguments Moreno says are discriminatory toward white people. His YouTube channel includes videos labeling the professor as “anti-white” and “racist.” Moreno argues that Wash is unfit to teach debate or any other subject and he’s calling for his termination. “I don’t think that students should be forced with that dilemma of ‘regurgitate radical leftist ideology or don’t get to do debate.’ That’s not fair,” Moreno said. “All students should be able to do debate.” Despite Moreno’s claims, a few members of the debate team say that certain recordings of Wash are taken out of context. They argue that the videos show Wash preparing the team for competition by asserting potential arguments that they could use or arguments that they can face. Wash also has the same sentiment. “The larger message and what’s being talked about, especially in that first video, is (that) I was trying to teach them about perspectivism,” Wash said. ”… People’s vantage points, their experiences, their cultures, their social location, guide how they navigate the world, what they understand to be true, what they don’t understand to be true, and those are the things that we… have to navigate in debate.” Moreno’s YouTube videos contain his own commentary along with edited video and audio clips of Wash, Moreno, and other students at debate practices. Moreno also featured a link to the full audio used to make the video, however, the link to that audio stopped working on Tuesday afternoon. The recordings feature quotes from Wash that have caused controversy on social media, including one that opens the first video: “ Our argument will be that space is not real — it’s not real. Science, technology — it’s all fake. It’s a projection of white fantasies that has worked to control our interpretation of how the world works.” The clips were made at a debate retreat prior to the start of the semester and at practices early in the semester. Moreno, a first-year student who was still fresh on the team, stopped participating in practices one to two weeks into the fall semester, according to him, although Wash and other team members have slightly different accounts. Moreno’s peers and Wash say that they had no knowledge that they were being recorded. The fact that Moreno uploaded the recordings to the Internet also made them accessible to other debate teams. The uploaded clips are against Weber State policy, which requires students to “ obtain the faculty member’s permission before recording lectures” and prohibits students from creating “an audio or video record of any person while on university premises without his/her prior knowledge,” though it’s not against the law in Utah.  Because of the videos, Wash says that his personal contact info has been shared online, a tactic known as doxxing, and he says that he’s received more than 100 messages containing racial slurs and even death threats. On Tuesday, November 5, Wash received his first threatening call to his cellphone. “It’s become a really unsafe situation to where we’ve had to take precautions not only to protect me, but protect the students,” Wash said. He explained some threats even mentioned the Ku Klux Klan, saying that the racist group will take “ appropriate action,” although the people sending the messages do not explicitly say that they’re members of the group. The Weber County Attorney’s Office is aware of the alleged threats and is cooperating with the Weber State Police Department to investigate, according to deputy Weber County attorney Branden Miles. Debate team members have also been offered police escorts to their classes. Meanwhile, Moreno says he hasn’t received any threats because of his videos. One campus group, Never Neutral Union, has formed calling for Moreno’s expulsion. One debate team and NNU member, Rei Olsen, defended Wash, saying, “ It is very common, at least in college debate, that the coaches just say, ‘This is the argument you’re running — as a school, we all run the same argument.’ But Ryan is amazing at letting us all run what we want to run.” Moreno also accuses Wash of requiring arguments to include mention of oppression based on gender, race, class or sexual orientation, even if the debate topic isn’t directly related to these themes. Moreno said this method encourages a victim mentality. However, Wash argues that his approval of an argument is “ whether or not it can stand up to scrutiny.” He said gender, race, class, and sexual orientation are not required features of every topic or argument, but they do come up often in the arguments of opposing teams, so it’s important that the Weber State team be ready to address them.  Moreno said that he told Wash that he felt “hated by everyone,” and Wash assured him that he wasn’t. Moreno still argued that Wash was “ vulgar and rude to me. He does not like me.” The university is continuing their investigation into both sides, according to executive director of marketing and communications J ohn Kowalewski. President Brad Mortensen also added that “ if disciplinary action is taken, it is the university’s long-standing policy that it does not publicly share or discuss personnel or student conduct violations.” SEE ALSO: High School Coach Whose ‘White Power’ And N-Word Video Went Viral Is Shocked People Are Upset Diamond And Silk Get Dragged For Bizarrely Comparing Biden And Warren To Salt And Sugar

I don’t know if my body just, like, out of a desperate need to find a place for my anxiety or find a use for it, takes it and puts it there,” the Houston-raised rapper admitted.   View this post on Instagram “I want you to know that if you can love me, you can love your goddamn self.” Born in Detroit to a religious family and raised in Texas, Melissa Jefferson, a.k.a. When you don’t see yourself, you start to think something’s wrong with you. Then you want to look like those things and when you realize it’s a physical impossibility, you start to think, ‘What the f**k is wrong with me?’ I think that took a greater toll on me, psychologically, growing up than what anyone could have said to me.”   View this post on Instagram “I’m not trying to sell you me, I’m trying to sell you, you.” In today’s image-obsessed age, @LizzoBeeating is a megawatt beacon of self-assurance – so utterly herself that it is impossible for it not to rub off on you. That’s just it. We weren’t selling anything in the beginning. We were just selling ourselves and selling ourselves on the idea – selling ourselves on ourselves, you know? I’m not trying to sell you me. I’m trying to sell you, you.” LOVE IT! You better tell ’em! FAB FINDS: Discover This Affordable Beauty Hack For Cleaning Your Makeup Brushes At Under $1.00

Go here to see the original:

Source: Peopleimages / Getty As a celebrity makeup artist, I’ve been asked quite often how frequently one should wash their personal makeup brushes. My response is always the same: Wash your brushes as frequently as you wash your pillow cases . However, how to wash them however, wasn’t always an easy reply. In the beginning, I remember attempting to wash my brushes with the same bar of soap that I used to wash my body. For me, it’s Dove ($6.19, target.com ). Since the product worked so well on my skin and kept me clean, surely it would break down the build-up on my brushes. Right? I tried this a couple times and found myself in the bathroom for far too long. Rinse after rinse it took too many tries to get my dingy brushes like new again. After a couple of tries, I realized that I was just going to have to use something stronger. The next best thing would be dish soap. That worked like a charm and got my dirty white brushes white again, but then I noticed them slowly loosing bristles over time. It was obvious to me that the dish soap was drying out the hair of my brushes. I’d spent a lot of money on those suckers and needed them to hold up! Not to mention, my Beauty Blender sponges ($20.00, macys.com ) that were $20 a pop STILL wouldn’t get cleaned by anything other than the official soap that the company makes. Those bars of soap ($16.00, ulta.com ) cleaned my brushes and blenders marvelously but they were not affordable, especially for how fast I was moving through the product. Thus, I like many other girls just gave up washing my brushes as often as I should. Oh come on! Don’t act like you haven’t gone a month or longer without washing your brushes! It’s easy to do when you realize how time consuming it can be and how costly it is to purchase soaps that are meant to wash the hairs of your brushes. Once I became a working makeup artist I gathered up a collection of brushes meant only for clients and realized that I’d have to come up with a solution for cleaning my brushes. I’d be using them on multiple faces and needed them to be clean for each use for sanitary purposes. After some trial and error I narrowed it down to baby shampoo ($4.99, target.com ) for my brushes and the official Beauty Blender bar of soap ($16.00, ulta.com ) for my Beauty Blender ($20.00, macys.com ). The baby soap was strong enough to get my brushes clean but not too strong that it would dry them out. Still, it took a few washings before I could get them to be REALLY clean. One day I was traveling with a client. I had been working with this particular celebrity for some time and I was in and out of hotels with her. I realized after a long day on set that I’d run out of my bar of soap to wash my Beauty Blenders. It was late and Sephora wasn’t open so I used my only option…the bar of soap provided by the hotel. Within seconds of working up a good lather I realized that this bar of soap was cleaning the hell outta that sponge better than the official bar of soap! I grabbed a white bristled brush and tried using the soap on it. In seconds the brush was back to white! SECONDS! With my baby shampoo it took a few washings! The next morning I approached a maintenance worker and asked for more soap for my room. She gave me one bar. “Do you think you could spare any more of them?”. By the end of my stay I’d racked up at least 10 bars. It wasn’t long before I realized that it wasn’t just that hotel’s soap that cleaned my brushes and sponges. It was ALL hotel soap. So why would hotel soap work but not my Dove soap?! Simply put, because its cheap. Cheap soap cleans brushes and sponges best. I put this theory to the test by going to the drug store and purchasing the least expensive bar of soap they offered: Dial soap at .99 cents a bar. Now, all of these years later, that is my go-to product to clean my brushes and my sponges. The best part? Dial soap ($1.99, target.com ) is antibacterial too. WIN WIN! The only down side is that it is somewhat drying. I counteract this conditioning my real hair brushes every now and again. It’s real hair so you can condition it! Pamper your brushes from time to time so they can keep pampering you! Nicki Minaj Slams Wendy Williams Over Jabs At Husband, Tells Host To Mind Her Own Mess

Via Friday’s (November 1) Queen Radio episode on Apple Music, Mrs. Petty had some bars for Wendy Williams after the veteran talk show host made mention of Minaj’s husband and his criminal past during a “Hot Topics” segment. The Blast reports : Nicki slammed Wendy for speaking ill of her husband and basically said she should keep her mouth shut on the topic considering her estranged husband, Kevin Hunter, reportedly got another woman pregnant while they were still married. “When you announce my husband, P, there’s no need for you to mention his past. Every time you mention him, you feel the need to bring these things up as well as something he was wrongfully accused of doing…” Nicki said on Queen Radio. She also added that while she understands that Wendy is a journalist, she could “report the news without that level of viciousness.” The rapper didn’t hold back, turning focus on Wendy Williams and insinuating her husband stepping out on her was karma for all the viciousness she’s done in her past. “B—- where was you at when Kevin had his d— knee deep in that b—- p—-? I pray for you because I know you’re hurting and I know you must be sick and humiliated,” the new bride stated. But it wasn’t just all anger spewing from Nicki’s mouth. She also made sure to tell her listeners that she had been cheering Wendy on during her troubled times, but the sweetness didn’t last long. According to the outlet, Minaj says she has even more smoke for Williams on the next episode of Queen Radio . — Photo: WENN

A post shared by Tazah Richardson (@tazahthemodelvixen) on Aug 1, 2019 at 6:26am PDT Her journey to becoming a model might have started out of a desire to emulate those confident women but ultimately it became about creating new ones. For Richardson there was no question about whether or not she should take the opportunity she was offered when she returned home. “So the same lady that told me I was too big to fit the uniform I ended up taking her job.” The job reinvigorated her modeling career. With a room full of young girls watching her every move, she had to work even harder to make her dreams come true off of the clock.  “It actually furthered my drive even more because I was working with young girls who were from the same neighborhood that I was from which was in Columbia Heights Northwest D.C., where we see lots of violence and lots of crime and lots of gentrification and lots of nobody caring and lots of homelessness and all those other things.”  View this post on Instagram Another #TBT from the beauty issue of @luxekurves . With every routine perfected and every baton twirled Richardson felt like she was making a difference.  “They really looked up to me even though I wasn’t modeling at the level that I wanted to be modeling on they saw that and it motivated them and it inspired them to do anything that they wanted.”  She took their respect seriously.  “It almost turned into like a selfless thing I almost felt like I had to do it because if quit it would only let them down, and eventually I landed the BET Rip The Runway opportunity, which like to them is like the biggest thing that I could have ever done. Just to see how inspired they were by the things that i was doing just made me feel like I couldn’t quit. Women clapped and cheered as she strolled in Livirae Lingerie .  Plus size bodies are often hyper-sexualized by mainstream media outlets but the environment Maui Bigelow and MadameNoire created was all about admiring one another. So for me to walk in that room with my nipples out and to get the applause and get the accolades and the encouragement that I got in the room, it made me feel like you really are sexy it’s not just something that you think in your head and it’s not just something that a man tells you but it’s something that’s true that you really are sexy and worthy of that adoration.”  We’ll second that sis!  DON’T MISS: MODEL MONDAY: Nicque Marina Went From The Air Force To Fashion Week By Following MadameNoire MODEL MONDAY: Althea Smith Doesn’t Want To Be Anyone’s Token MODEL MONDAY: Lana Ogilvie Went From The First Black Covergirl To Skincare CEO [ione_media_gallery src=”https://hellobeautiful.com” id=”3060624″ overlay=”true”]

The designer tells the site, “I used to wear kitten heels quite a lot in the past and I still do it now, so it’s part of my personal style as well. To me, they represent maybe the most feminine shoes ever: feminine not in the soft or fragile way but in the strong way.” We want to know what you think of these shoes, beauties. Would you wear them? TRIED IT: Black Radiance True Complexion Contour Palette Will Have You Looking Like You Returned From A Caribbean Vacation

Source: Black Radiance True Complexion Deep To Dark Contour Palette / Courtesy of Black Radiance I’ve been on a no-foundation kick for about a year now. I really only wear it for major events or on camera appearances (if that). Recently, I hosted a panel at CurlFest Atlanta and had my makeup done by @LahLuvie (whom I HIGHLY recommend if you ever need your makeup done in Atlanta). Source: Arkeedah McCormick / Courtesy of Danielle James She had me looking like a STAR and I can’t lie, that I began craving that look. I’m currently in Africa and was attending a friend’s private movie screening and wanted to just give my face some extra love. I packed the Black Radiance True Complexion Deep To Dark Palette ($8.49, blackradiancebeauty.com ) and decided to give it a try. Source: Black Radiance True Complexion Deep To Dark Contour Palette / Courtesy of Black Radiance The palette is a powder palette and I’m not an expert at contouring. I was a little nervous to mess up; however, I decided to walk boldly into beauty. The first step I did was apply all my skincare products. After I let those settle in, I then applied my foundation. After my foundation, I applied some concealer under my eyes and blended in to help disguise my dark circles that were the result of some serious jet lag. Now it was time to use the palette. Contouring is great for when you want to help create some symmetry to your face or even slim out certain areas. The palette instructs you with an easy to follow application guide where to apply the contour, sculpt and highlight. This was helpful because as earlier mentioned, I’m not a contour queen. I suggest using a beauty blender, my personal favorite is founded by a Black woman, The Makeup Bullet ($25.00, amazon.com ). It comes 3 in a pack. I’ve been using them since about 2016. A beauty blender will help because if you are a bit heavy handed like me, it gives the opportunity for you to blend in your mistakes (I did this frequently). The Makeup Bullet is like a finger sponge, so it also helps with control and has a great pointed tip. Source: Danielle James / Courtesy of Danielle James I found the contour powder to be a bit dark at first; however, once I blended it in, it really created a beautiful look. Source: Danielle James / Courtesy of Danielle James The highlight is my absolute favorite and is even prettier upon application that it is in the palette. I started using it as well on days I didn’t contour but just wanted to glow. Source: Danielle James / Courtesy of Danielle James I was impressed with the overall look when I was done. I added some Kiss Lashes in Lacey ($6.99, kissusa.com ) and stepped back to admire my final beat! If I do say so myself, my makeup looked (almost) professionally done! I received a ton of compliments! Another thing, is that this easy to use guide helps the process not take so long. I think the contouring step took me all of 10 minutes (and this was my first try). I set the look with Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray ($33.00, sephora.com ) and mixed Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint in Unveil ($24.00, sephora.com ) and Unbutton ($24.00, sephora.com ) to create a pinky chocolate nude look. I was ready for a night out! I give this palette five stars. The quality seems more expensive than the price tag and I was extremely happy with the final look. If you like to contour, you need to add this palette to your life! Source: Black Radiance True Complexion Light To Medium Contour Palette / Courtesy of Black Radiance For my lighter complexion beauties, the palette also comes in a light to medium option ($8.49, blackradiancebeauty.com ). I love that they offer two options for Black women. Beauties, have you tried this palette? Tell me in the comment section! If you do use it, share your look with me on Instagram by tagging me or DM’ing me @TheIslanDiva. I want to see! If you are interested in trying it, the Black Radiance website is currently having a 25% off sale for Fall by entering the code BRFALL. Happy shopping!
