As previously reported jaws dropped when people saw not only Botham Jean’s brother hug Amber Guyger —but presiding Judge Tammy Kemp who also sweetened the gesture by giving Guyger a bible. “You can have mine. I have three or four more at home,” Kemp said to Guyger while giving her the bible. “This is your job for the next month. Watch live: https://t.co/86S3jPDqCg #AmberGuygerTrial pic.twitter.com/U1oGEQW7I5 — NBC DFW (@NBCDFW) October 2, 2019 Now the Freedom From Religion Foundation has filed a complaint with the Texas State Commission on Judicial Conduct, the agency that investigates allegations of judicial misconduct for Judge Kemp’s benevolent gesture. The Associated Press reports that the Freedom From Religion Foundation complained that Kemp “went too far” and called her actions “inappropriate and unconstitutional.” “Delivering Bibles and personally witnessing as a judge is an egregious abuse of power,” the foundation wrote in a letter to Texas officials. Kemp “transmitted her personal religious beliefs as a state official in an official proceeding of the gravest nature.” Mind you The Freedom From Religion Foundation is a secular Wisconsin-based group that routinely files lawsuits challenging religious displays in government. And while you might not agree with them protesting religious displays, the egregiousness of the hug still stands. Judge Kemp is being defended however by former Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins. Watkins is an esteemed Attorney who became the first black elected district attorney in Texas history. “It’s just her Christian nature,” said Watkins according to AP . Kemp, he said, would pray when their office tackled complex cases. “You’re having people of color that have the opportunity to make judges now,” Watkins said. “Their life experience and their religious points of view are different than what we’ve seen in the past. That’s just the evolution of our judicial system.” WELP! What do YOU think about Judge Kemp getting flagged for coddling a convict??? We know what WE think about it…

Now, a former business partner is excusing the Ball family patriarch of embezzling funds from the family’s various business holdings. The Blast shares in a new report that Ball’s former business associate, Alan Foster, filed suit and alleged that the father of Lonzo, LiMelo, and LiAngelo Ball has been pilfering funds from the business to fund his own personal needs. Foster was a partner in the Big Baller Brand athletic brand, and the Ball Sports Group, a sports and entertainment company. From The Blast : According to Foster, “In early 2016, in furtherance of LaVar’s intense desire to share in, or rise above, the glory and spotlight of his sons, LaVar approached Alan and asked for his business guidance on how to monopolize and gain fortune and fame from the names and likenesses of his three sons. In response, Alan suggested that the two men brand the “Ball” family name in order to create basketball and entertainment-related businesses. LaVar loved Alan’s idea and wanted to make sure that he was the biggest star in the family, notwithstanding the fact that he was broke, had no savings, poor credit and zero business acumen.” “LaVar is a liar who fraudulently utilized BBB and BSG to fund his personal lifestyle,” the docs state. Cassie Randolph Slams Breakup Rumors: Colton Underwood and I Are Mostly Good!

Cassie Randolph is getting real about her relationship with Colton Underwood and she would like everyone to know — they’re fine! Last night, the reality star shared a sweet photo along with a novel-lengthed post to Instagram where she opened up about the “scrutiny” she and Colton have faced since their time on the ABC dating show. She also took the chance to slam circulating breakup reports, which she apparently stumbled upon somewhere. Frustrated Cassie cleared the air by letting the world know that she and Colton are “good and happy,” but acknowledged that life after The Bachelor hasn’t been a walk in the park.  …Though one would certainly think so from the looks of their adorable Instagram posts. I guess life isn’t always as good as it looks. “Is our relationship perfect?” Cassie’s post began, “No, it is very normal with its ups and downs and compromises.” “Despite the microscope on our relationship, we are trying to stay focused on what is important and grow in the direction of getting stronger and closer everyday.” “We know that in order for us to work, we need to focus on each other and not the craziness that sometimes surrounds us, and stay grounded,” she wrote. Adding, “We are good!”  Randolph also opened up about her current struggle of trying to find the balance between her newfound stardom, grad school, and her personal life,  “At times the stress has made me question what the heck I am doing and those close to me have also questioned me as they see me burning the candle at both ends and at times more stressed than I should be,” she explained. “Some of the changes haven’t just affected my life, but those close to me too.” But luckily for Cass, it sounds like Colton is patiently supporting her — even if that means there will not be an engagement in their near future . “To be even more transparent,” she continued, “being in such a public relationship comes with its own set of added issues to manage. Jamie Spears: Britney Spears’ Awful Dad Still Controls Her Finances

Millions of fans rejoiced at the news that Jamie Spears is out as Britney’s conservator . For now, her personal life will be managed by another. Britney’s mom has been fighting in court to wrest control from Jamie so that she can look after her daughter’s affairs. Unfortunately, she has now lost that court battle — and Jamie is expected to resume his tyrannical hold on Britney as early as January. TMZ reports that Lynne Spears’ fight for her daughter’s conservatorship did not go as planned. Lynne felt that Jamie had been doing a poor job when acting as their famous daughter’s conservator. She wanted the reigns. But the court ruled that Jamie will continue to manage Britney’s estate from a financial angle. Jodi Montgomery is currently handling the more personal aspects of the conservatorship. Jamie hand-picked Jodi while stepping back from the role, allegedly for medical reasons, in the wake of his alleged attack on Britney’s son. For many years, Lynne Spears did not appear — at least to the public — to take much interest in the conservatorship. That changed this spring, when Britney’s sudden 30-day stint in a mental health facility prompted cries of alarm and “Free Britney.” While some of the outcry was well-intentioned but a little dehumanizing, some fans were surprised to see Lynne agree with them. She has openly discussed her belief that Britney’s social media appears to be manipulated, perhaps without her knowledge. Then, Lynne filed documents to see more of what’s going on with Britney’s health management. Britney is an incredible mother, a titan of the music industry, and beloved all over the world. She is also a grown woman. She is 37. In two months and a little change, she’ll be 38. TMZ notes that just about everyone “in the know” agrees that the conservatorship initially saved her life. That may well be true — but that doesn’t mean that it needs to stay. It has been in effect for nearly 12 years, now. How long before Britney is permitted to manage her own life? Reports claim that Britney’s mental and emotional well being is less than ideal at the moment. For instance, Britney just recently backed out of an appearance at an awards show, opting to race back to the car. And her stay at a mental health facility earlier this year was reportedly so that she could find a new medication that works. Of course, vague claims about a mysterious mental illness are hard for many fans to swallow, and not because it’s an “invisible illness.” There are conspiracy theorists who believe that reports about Britney are deliberately exaggerated … to keep the conservatorship alive. We don’t know that we’d go that far, but we can certainly join millions of Britney’s other fans in wishing to keep Jamie as far away from her affairs as possible. Jamie may be off the hook for child abuse charges , despite allegedly breaking down a door to assault then 13-year-old Sean Preston. But that doesn’t mean that he’s, you know, a good person or safe to be around. Reports say that Britney hasn’t spoken to her awful father since that scary incident — perhaps even since before that. And she and Sean Federline made sure that the boys were safe, sending them to Kevin’s immediately where Jamie’s conservatorship means squat. Both of Britney’s sons now have restraining orders barring their garbage grandfather from seeing them for the next three years. App Focused On Black Maternal Health Receives $200K Grant

T he maternal mortality crisis continues to disproportionately affect Black women. According to new research released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention , for women over the age of 30, Black women are four to five times more likely to die in pregnancy and childbirth. Entrepreneur Kimberly Seals Allers is aiming to reverse this alarming trend through her app Irth and she recently received $200,000 in funding to push her efforts forward, Black News reported. The digital platform features reviews and ratings of health facilities and healthcare providers so that individuals can make informed decisions when it comes to seeking the best care during their pregnancy journey. The grant was donated by the Tara Health Foundation which focuses on the well-being of women and girls. Seals Allers—a notable author and journalist—says that her personal experiences inspired her to create Irth. After enduring racial bias at the hospital where she delivered her child—a facility that her white friends praised—she saw first-hand how Black mothers are often mistreated. “At that time of my life, I was on student insurance and I was not yet married. Despite my career and academic accomplishments, I was treated like an unwed black woman with basic insurance. I lived that. It was clear to me that not all people experience the same place the same way,” Seals Allers said in a statement. Several individuals and organizations have stepped up to back platforms that are focused on addressing issues surrounding maternal health. Tennis star Serena Williams recently invested in the maternal healthcare startup Mahmee which provides expecting parents with a comprehensive dashboard that tracks the health of the mother and child. Parents can also utilize the platform for educational resources. Mike Sorrentino Post-Prison: I Just Want to Eat and Get Rich Again!

When Mike Sorrentino pled guilty to tax evasion back in January of 2018, the news led many to express disbelief at the reality star’s financial situation. After all, one can’t hide millions in assets without first amassing millions, and for those who had remained ignorant of the Jersey Shore phenomenon, the revelation that a guy named “The Situation” was earning 7 figures annually came as quite a shock. Yes, there’s no denying that when Shore was at its peak, The Sitch was rich — very rich. In fact, in addition to his abhorrent behavior, Mike was known for two things in those days — his lavish taste, and his six-pack abs. In the years that followed his arrest, Mike fell on hard times, got sober, and committed himself to becoming a better man. Last week, Sorrentino was released after serving eight months in prison. Now, it’s important to note that Mike — who married Lauren Pesce  in November — has made it clear that he has no intention of returning to his hard-partying ways. But we’re sure he wouldn’t mind regaining the staggering wealth and flawless physique he enjoyed in his Bad Mike days. As evidenced by his first post-prison photo, in one respect, Mike has already made some major progress. The Sitch and family celebrated his return with a massive feast (of course), and the image of Mike’s newly-pumped-up guns left some fans reeling: “He’s back … Look at those arms,” commented one fan. Another echoed, “Let’s goooo, Mike. Beast.” “God damn! No more dad bod!” a third fan remarked. As for the financial situation — well that might take a little bit longer to get that back on track. Mike’s net worth these days is estimated at roughly $300,000. Not too shabby, but a far cry from Pauly D’s, who — as the wealthiest Shore cast member — is thought to be worth roughly $20 million. Mike’s situation is no doubt helped considerably by the fact that Jersey Shore: Family Vacation has proven to be a modest ratings hit, and will likely return for at least two more seasons. Still, The Sitch has quite a hole to dig himself out of. In addition to his prison time, Mike was forced to pay out $123,000 in restitutions, as well as a $10,000 fine. Fortunately, Shore isn’t his only revenue stream these days. TMZ reports that Mike has been presented with a lot of opportunities since his release. His clothing company is enjoying record sales, and he’s so in demand for public appearances, that he and Lauren have delayed their scheduled honeymoon. “We are elated to finally close this chapter of our life. Thank you to our family, friends and fans for the continuous love and support during this time,” a rep for the couple said in a statement issued after Mike’s release. “It brought us so much peace and comfort. “We look forward to continuing our life as husband and wife and working on baby situations! We truly believe that the comeback is ALWAYS greater than the setback, and we can’t wait to show the world ours.” We wish Big Daddy and Mrs. Sitch all the best going forward. Jamie Spears Evades Child Abuse Charges Despite Alleged Attack

Any true fans of Britney Spears rejoiced at the news that Jamie Spears is no longer her conservator (for now). But many have hoped that he’ll be brought to justice over an alleged attack on Britney’s son Sean Preston. Unfortunately (but unsurprisingly), police who were investigating have thrown up their hands and announced that Jamie will not be charged. Ventura County District Attorney Gregory D. Totten had the unenviable task of reporting that justice will not be served. “Criminal charges will not be filed against James Spears, of Westlake Village,” Totten announced, according to RadarOnline . He continued: “The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office investigated allegations involving child abuse by Mr. Spears.” “After reviewing the evidence,” Totten confessed. “There is insufficient proof that a criminal offense was committed by Mr. Spears.” That is a disappointment, but not a shocker. An inside source previously related the alleged events in question to RadarOnline . “Britney had the boys at Jamie’s condo on the evening of August 24,” the insider began. “Jamie and Sean Preston got into an argument,” the source noted. The insider explained that “Sean Preston felt unsafe and locked himself into a room.” No child should ever be given reason to feel unsafe around family, but it’s doubly awful that this was not enough to remove him from harm’s way. “Jamie broke into the room and shook Sean Preston,” the source revealed, matching up with all other descriptions of the event. That is awful. That is a description of abuse. “Jamie has a temper,” another insider noted. “Which is no secret to anyone in the family.” “Fortunately, Britney did the right thing,” the source continued. “And,” the insider said, the pop superstar “took her boys to safety and away from her father.” “The whole incident was very upsetting to her and her boys,” the source related. The insider added: “Kevin was and still is furious.” “Preston was not physically injured,” the source noted. “But very scared and shaken up.” Pun not intended, we hope. Most domestic abuse does not result in physical injuries. It doesn’t make it any less evil. So why is it not shocking that Jamie isn’t being charged with anything? Because most of us are all too aware of how little our society actually cares about the safety of children — at least when it comes to danger in their families. Look in the comments section of almost any story about domestic violence against a child, and you’re likely to see people applauding it. Additionally, our legal system is centuries old and not designed to prosecute abuse of a girlfriend, spouse, or child. When it was designed, remember, wives and children were essentially property of men. Too many times, investigations — even those with eyewitnesses — end with police shrugging at “insufficient evidence of a crime.” That has to change. Mackenzie McKee Talks Divorce, Says She’s Totally "Broken"

Mackenzie McKee is going through a lot these days. The new Teen Mom OG cast member is dealing with her mother's ongoing cancer battle, along with her recent split from husband Josh. The reality star announced this impending divorce in mid-August , sounding somewhat optimistic about her future despite this unfortunate development. But now McKee doesn't sound like she's in a great place. Nor does she sound like a huge fan of Josh. Scroll down for the latest on the MTV personality and her personal life… 1. Where did it all go wrong? When Josh cheated on her? Or, at least, when allegations of Josh cheating on her surfaced. 2. Did he actually cheat? TBD, we guess. On McKee’s first episode of Teen Mom OG, we watched as Mackenzie grew concerned over her husband’s fidelity after he left for a rodeo and a woman contacted McKee, alleging that she witnessed Josh flirting with another female. 3. What’s the history here? The couple tied the knot in 2013 and have been dating since 2009. They have three kids: son Gannon, 7, daughter Jaxie Taylor, 5, and Broncs Weston, who turned 3 this summer. 4. How did McKee break the news? “I would like to say, that due to stress, me needing to stay focused, the media, etc. I am deciding my marriage needs a break. My heart breaks for my kids. But as of right now, this is what’s best. Thank you,” the reality star wrote back on August 24. 5. Staying Positive “Freshly single and ready to, be the boss babe that I am and let God lead me to what i deserve,” McKee later wrote in as a caption to a selfie. She later edited the caption to point out that the picture “is an old photo so my ring is on.” 6. It all sounded pretty amicable at the time… … but then?
