Remy Ma, Eve, Trina, and Mc Lyte Celebrating 3 Decades Of Female Hip Hop With Upcoming “Queens of Hip Hop Tour”

On March 18th at Phillips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, history will be made as some of the most prominent women in hip-hop reunite for the Queens of Hip Hop tour, and not a moment too soon. At a time when women all over the world are unapologetically proclaiming “Time’s up,” effectively breaking glass ceilings throughout Hollywood, and having their voices resonate with a new movement that aims to reposition how women are seen and treated in a male-dominated society, the reuniting of some very prolific female emcees is just what the world needs. Trina, one of the indisputable queens of hip-hop and current star of VH1’s Love & Hip Hop Miami recently sharing the stage with other phenomenal women, and looking forward to seeing her fellow emcees.   “I am honored to share the stage with women who have placed an imprint on the Hip-Hop scene of music worldwide with their sound and stamp. The Queens of Hip Hop Tour supports empowering women of music, more so, hip hop and being able to unite for our fans on one stage. I look forward to seeing my fellow female emcees, and presenting a memorable performance experience for my Rockstarrs.”

T.I. On His Prison Release: “I Enjoyed Opening My Refrigerator”

Read more from the original source:

Rapper/actor/author T.I. who was recently released after serving two prison stints within the last two years recently announced the release of his new book “Power & Beauty”. Tip recently sat down with our partners at HuffPo Black Voices and and opened up about penning his debut novel while behind bars, recording his next album, clearing the air with Diddy and his upcoming VH1 documentary: What is the synopsis of your novel, “Power & Beauty”? “Power & Beauty” is a fictional story that I collaboratively came up with, with David Ritz, and we set out to make a story about real characters living in the world that I’m all-too familiar with, and the conflicts and challenges that they experience as young teenagers. Or basically, going from their teenage years and being thrust into adulthood by real-life tragic circumstances and the decisions that they make which shapes the rest of their lives. Upon your recent release, you also had a chance to perform on this year’s “BET Hip-Hop Awards.” How did it feel to grace the stage again? It felt wonderful just to put my feet back onto the ground on this side of things. And everything that came with that was wonderful. For me, that performance was one of the things that came with it that week. I also enjoyed going to my son’s football game. I enjoyed sleeping in my own bed. I enjoyed opening my refrigerator, changing the channel on my television — you know, just the small things in life. And hitting the stage was just one of many things that I was able to get back to and enjoy that week. Actually I hit the stage a few times. Taylor Swift hit me up and we did our thing at Phillips Arena the day after [my release], I believe. READ THE REST HERE T.I. Puts Diddy In Check At BET Hip Hop Awards After Party! Thrashers Leaving Atlanta For Canada

Read more from the original source:

It’s official. As expected, the Atlanta Thrashers are packing their bags and moving to Winnipeg, Canada. True North Sports and Entertainment, the Canadian group that has been negotiating to buy the NHL hockey team since mid-May, made the announcement at a news conference today in Winnipeg, reports the AJC.com . The Thrashers began play as an expansion team in 1999 in then-new Philips Arena. The team also had the most diverse lineup in the NHL, but the team also lost millions of dollars every year and struggled to fill seats in Phillips despite having a noticeable contingent of passionate fans. NHL commissioner Gary Bettman told reporters that he regretted seeing Atlanta lose its second NHL franchise. The Flames left Atlanta for Calgary in 1980. The agreement must now be approved by the NHL Board of Governors, which is scheduled to meet on June 21. A 75-percent vote is required to ratify a change of ownership and a 50-percent vote is required to approve a franchise relocation. Atlanta Spirit — which owns the Thrashers and Hawks — has been trying to sell the Thrashers for years. The company claims that they tried to keep the team in Atlanta but failed to find a buyer willing to keep the team in Atlanta. Read the full story at the AJC.com .
