America’s Got Talent Recap: Bigger in Texas?

America’s Got Talent rode into Texas on a bull last night, hoping to lasso in a few winning acts. Who did Sharon, Howie and Howard find? Read on for a full rundown… Fiesta Bandbaz Brothers – The Iranian Acrobats already have the Vegas spirit since they lived near the area. While I wished the ladder was more impressive, the act itself was amazing to watch as the younger of the two wobbled to keep his balance. Age will clearly be a factor as the older one couldn’t really hold on as well as he could have five years ago. Still, the routine was impressive and I could see how adding some extra shine, lighting, and dramatic music could make it a contender on the show. There was oddly the perfect counterbalance of two female contortionists that were almost too perfect and it looked easy. Joe Castillo – The Sand artist was really cool but there was something a little bit off about watching him. The imagery was beautiful and since it’s the first time I’ve seen it, I’ll give him some credit. The next time we watch him in Vegas, he better up his game and think of something that doesn’t just play the patriotic card. David Smith Jr. – The Human Cannonball’s story sounded pretty scary: broken legs and a father with a broken back. The weather didn’t seem to be helping his cause because of the rain and possible CGI lightning. I give him tons of credit for going while it was raining. It was silly when they considered shooting Brittany out of a cannon on Glee, when her dummy demo burst into a billion pieces, but it was epic for a guy to really do it. His wife mentioned that the rain caused the netting to be a bit springy and he could have hit the ground even with the netting. What else are you going to do with this act though? Average Tacos El Charro De Oro – Sebastien De La Cruz was the head of the mariachi band and while he introduced his band in the beginning, we never got their name again. I liked the performance, but I have to admit how niche the group is. Consider the fact that the Grammys limited the Tejano category that I’m not even sure how many mariachi bands get exposure outside of Spanish groups. We have to think of this on a Vegas scale. A full Mexican explosion of culture where mariachi was one element could be watchable, but by itself it needs more to be dynamic. Tim Poe – There’s something very endearing about the stuttering singer and war vet. You want him to succeed, which is perfect for a reality show like this. I’m happy to see that his voice doesn’t stutter while singing, but I only find his vocal skills to be average at best. The song was a perfect fit for his story, but his pitch left something to be desired. Empty Pi

Bad Boy Rapper Los Dedicates New Single To Trayvon Martin

Diddy urges fans to retweet link to rapper’s ‘Wit My Hoodie On’ tribute track. By Rob Markman Trayvon Martin Photo: AP The tragic shooting death of Trayvon Martin has led a number of prominent hip-hop artists to speak out. On last week’s “RapFix Live,” Nas , Bun B, Killer Mike and Prodigy all expressed their views on the Florida teen’s death at the hands of neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman. The discussion around Martin, who was wearing a hoodie when he was killed, has also led to protests, televised debates and songs dedicated to young Trayvon. The latest of such singles comes from Diddy signee Los . On Sunday night, the Bad Boy mogul tweeted the link to Los’ “Wit My Hoodie On” and urged his followers to retweet it to the world. The Baltimore MC begins the somber, violin-laced track saying, “I just came here tonight to celebrate the life of Trayvon Martin. Put your hoodie on.” Los’ track was released eight days after Plies dropped his dedication, “We Are Trayvon,” in what seems to be a growing trend. On “Wit My Hoodie On,” Swagger Boy Los goes on to compare the Trayvon tragedy to his own troubles. He begins the first verse recalling the murder of his father 15 years ago and the effect it has had on his life. Toward the second half of the verse, Los brings it back full-circle, spitting, “I’m wrestling for this one shot/ Feeling like Trayvon on the lawn before the gunshot/ I ain’t gettin’ my up-to-no-good on/ They just wanna kill me, because I put my hood on.” The song’s hook is an ode to the hoodie, a fashion staple and now a symbolic representation of Trayvon’s gripping death. “I ride (with my hoodie on), I hustle (with my hoodie on)/ Damn right, I represent the struggle (with my hoodie on).” Veteran news reporter Geraldo Rivera recently said that he believed “the hoodie is as much responsible for Trayvon Martin’s death as George Zimmerman.” But on Sunday night, Rivera apologized to Martin’s parents when they appeared on his Fox News show. Trayvon’s dad, Tracy Martin, accepted Rivera’s apology and took a moment to clarify why his son was actually wearing the sweatshirt. “Your apology is accepted,” he said . “Let me just add one thing with the wearing of the hoodie. I don’t think America knows that, in fact, at the time of the incident when he initially made the call, it was raining. So Trayvon had every right to have on his hood. He was protecting himself from the rain. “So if being suspicious, walking in the rain with your hoodie on is a crime, then I guess the world is doing something wrong.” What do you think of Los’ “Wit My Hoodie On”? Tell us in the comments. Related Photos Diddy, Chris Brown Tribute Trayvon Martin Related Artists Diddy

‘Breaking Dawn’ Wedding ‘Tough’ For The Ladies, Kellan Lutz Says

‘They’re wearing these beautiful dresses, but they’re skintight,’ he tells MTV News of difficult filming conditions. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Eric Ditzian Kellan Lutz Photo: MTV News Speaking to the “Twilight” fans out there, it’s safe to assume that, by now, we’ve all seen the chills, thrills and heart-stopping moments contained within the “Breaking Dawn” trailer that debuted during the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night. (We’re especially sure these Twilighters have seen the trailer .) One of the biggest squeal-getters, as far as favorite, swoon-worthy moments are concerned, was the brief glimpse of Bella and Edward’s wedding. And no matter how gorgeous everything appears in the trailer, the members of the cast have been telling us that the actual shooting of the wedding scene was not quite as glamorous, thanks to a few days of serious downpour. When MTV News caught up with Kellan Lutz on the red carpet at the Movie Awards on Sunday, we asked him to weigh in on his experience filming in the less-than-desirable rain showers. SEE PHOTOS OF ALL OF THE “TWILIGHT” STARS AT THE MOVIE AWARDS. “I just feel bad for the women on the movie,” Lutz said. “They’re wearing these beautiful dresses, but they’re skintight, and of course a lot of us are playing vampires so you have to not shiver, because vampires don’t get cold. It was tough. It was really cold. A lot of times, the heaters went off and it rained, so it made the whole climate even more cold.” Lutz’s co-star Peter Facinelli told us that, thanks to movie magic, we won’t be seeing any of the rain or shivering “Twilight” castmembers once the film is finished. “It’s funny, because whenever we have a big important scene on ‘Twilight’ [movies], it rains. I was doing the baseball sequence [from ‘Twilight’], and it was raining. But you never see it on film,” Facinelli said of some editing tricks. “With this wedding, it rained the whole time we shot the two scenes. But you’ll never see it on film. They block out the rain. They put tarps up and you’ll never see it.” MTV News has all of the highlights from the 2011 MTV Movie Awards . Relive the best moments, watch red-carpet interviews with your favorite stars and read all about what went on behind the scenes on the big night. Miyah finds out she has Justin Bieber tickets!

She had no reaction for the first 30 seconds and I continued talking to her about it, but then I looked at her and she had her head down. She was crying so hard she wasn’t breathing, so I had to start recording. Man, she seriously loves Justin Bieber! We got enough money for the tickets at the last second because we rented out our house and Manoli was late for her plane to go back to Ohio to sign the papers, which is why she’s in such a hurry to run out the door. Miyah is such a good girl that we just had to make her JB dream come true! http://www.youtube.com/v/AwBI63iYIeA?f=videos&app=youtube_gdata Read the original here: Miyah finds out she has Justin Bieber tickets!

Before the Storm (Justin Bieber Video) with lyrics

A video I made for Justin Bieber using the song “Before the Storm” by Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus. Lyrics: Miley: I know this isn’t what I wanted, I never thought it come this far, Just thinking back to where we started, And how we lost all that we are. Nick: We were young and times were easy. But I could see it’s not the same. I’m standing here but you don’t see me, I’d give it all for that to change. But I don’t want to lose her, Don’t wanna let her go. Miley: Standin’ out in the rain, Need to know if it’s over, ‘Cuz I will leave you alone. Nick: I’m flooded with all this pain, Knowing I’ll never hold her Both: Like I did Before the storm (Yeah, before the storm) Nick: With every strike of lightning, Miley: Comes a memory that lasts. Both: And not a word is left unspoken, As the thunder starts to crash. Miley: Maybe I Should give up. Standin’ out in the rain, Need to know if it’s over, ‘Cuz I will leave you alone. Nick: I’m flooded with all this pain, Knowing I’ll never hold her Both: Like I did Before the storm Miley: Trying to keep The lights from going out Both: And the clouds from ripping out my broken heart. They always say, That a heart is not a home Without the one who gets you through the storm. Both: Standin’ out in the rain, Knowin’ that it’s really over. Please don’t leave me alone. I’m flooded with all this pain, Knowing I’ll never hold ya, Like I did, Before the storm. (The storm) Like I did Before the storm. http://www.youtube.com/v/p5aD18XV_xk?f=videos&app=youtube_gdata Originally posted here: Before the Storm (Justin Bieber Video) with lyrics

Gael García Bernal Gets a Conscience in the Even the Rain Trailer

The trailer for the Spanish submission to the Oscars Even the Rain brings up an interesting dilemma. In theory, it’s great to make films with a social conscience that inform a wider audience about historical and global injustice, but what happens when you have to bow to exploitation just to get the film made? In this film, Gael García Bernal plays a director making a film about Christopher Columbus’ imperialism who realizes he may need to turn a blind eye to modern day exploitation in order to complete the movie. Tense revolutionary violence and pensive hillside contemplation ensue.
